i met jim hammill when i was in h.s. pioupog, he invited me on the bus, what a thrill. i was a groupy n followed them everywhere. when u see a guy that much u will, at some point see his true self, no matter how well he tries to hide it. i never saw a moment that the man you describe existed. he always treated me like a friend...even got to sing with the kingsmen once. i think you were way off base in your comments. i love that old man n miss him very much! God have mercy on you.
loved big jim and boy he could wear out ernie, ray dean, audience, everyone. if he didn't wear them out you felt he was mad at them. i remember they were called the "ton of fun" and the song faith where is the victory was my first favorite sgm song.
is this from the Alabama Theater? I have the cassette of it, if it is. I've seen them 3 times..think Chris Collins was w/them then...they can to West Monroe w/McKamys & Gold City..& they did King's GOld together/

jim hammill isnt the guy everyone thought he was he was a very rude old man who cared more about money than anything i personally know this i just hope he got right before he died
Your comment is so far offbase, it's pitiful. I met Jim Hammill in Toledo (Ohio)when the Kingsmen & the Cathedrals had a concert together back in 88-89 I think. I think you are the one who needs to get right...FACT!!
I first saw the Kingsmen in concert at a little church in Chattanooga, Tn when I was 5. I'm 42 and I have loved Southern Gospel music and The Kingsmen ever since. I miss Jim Hamill.
I wish somebody had the video clips of Jim doing this song from "Live...Naturally", or "Big and Live Again", but there was no videos made of those concerts. Unless, somebody had used a personal camcorder there.
I had the priviledge of meeting Jim Hamill in Toledo Ohio some years back and he was simply amazing with his singing and his humor. Especially when it came time to pick on the tenors (Ernie Phillips especially). I am sure he his waiting for Ernie to make it to Heaven so he can pick on him a bit more.

I've known Jim Hammil since the early 1970's, you can't make me believe this to be true.
