when someone commits suicide, they are killing themselves (maiming their body to the point that it does not function, resulting in death). This is completely different from 'belief in an afterlife'. Your analogy does not work.
I believe the invisible skittles monster will murder you at age 50 and wear your flesh unless you worship him now.
What, you don't believe in the skittles monster? WHAT IF YOU'RE WRONG? Then you will be murdered and have your flesh worn as a coat for eternity. If, on the other hand, you accept my unprovable claim at face value and do everything I tell you to, giving me all your free will and ceding control to me, then you "lose" nothing!
You can ask the same question to a believer. What if you're a Mormon and are wrong about Joseph Smith? What if you're a Muslim and Mohamed wasn't really a prophet? What if people who believe in the trinity offend a strictly monotheistic God? What if there really are many gods and you are ticking the majority of them off, as a practicing Jew, by picking just one? The problem doesn't go away with belief.
I am Muslim, and God is indeed real. Stop listening to atheist scientists, and stop looking at all the negative misunderstandings. Ignore it all and look at what God did for you. He created you when you were nothing in your mother's womb. This world we live in, it's so complex, that it cannot have been by coincidence, I'm sorry but it just couldn't, look at it logically.
The key to have a close relation with God is faith, something that science lacks.
"you can say, i.e. if you do beat her, you it wont count against you in Judgement day"
How is THIS not enough proof your god is a SICK FUCK ( i agree i am getting worked up over fictious facts but it is so REPULSIVE to see people like you and have the NERVE and AUDACITY to come here and say " hey you know, god says it's ok, so...it must be ok even if we don't do it".
Your proposition is actually just Pascal's wager. Pascal's wager is just a fear tactic to dissuade the weak minded. It ignores truth and plays only on people's fear of death. I am surprised you would even propose such a ridiculous fear tactic. You pose this question to atheist exclusively but even a Muslim, Jew or any other theist could show you the illogicality of your proposal.
@justicecallicles If I am wrong and the God of Islam is the one true God then I would go there hell. But if the Gods of Hinduism are correct I get another chance in the next life. This is exactly what Pascal wanted in dialect. But you refuse to answer the question instead you argue from fallacy by diverting the question with a question. Instead answer the question If the God of the Bible is Real and you reject him then???
It's not a deflection, it's a sound criticism of the poor logic behind the question. And my answer does apply to the God of the Bible: he may send me to hell or he may not. It's not my place to know.
@justicecallicles What does the bible say will happen to you if you reject Jesus Christ as the savior of your soul. The only thing that can stand between you and your sins and God? Simple answer.. Which we both know the answer to. So then the next question is this. Being an atheist who is taking the larger mathmatical risk in rejecting a God? Me or you?
The Bible says Jesus will decide. "No one comes to the Father except through me." How he decides isn't made totally explicit. The Calvinists, for example, think he'll only save the elect, a group of people far more exclusive than merely everyone who accept's his sacrifice. Other Christians groups expect he'll be more liberal.
Mathematically, as was my point, we're on equal footing.
I'm familiar, as are they. But they don't think these things are messages to non-Christians, telling them to become Christians. They think these are messages to people who are already Christian, telling them that some subset of Christians will be saved. And they pull on other passages, arguing that it's God who decides if you'll believe in Him and it's God who decided if you'll accept Jesus' sacrifice in the first place.
But I'm not here to defend Calvinism. I'm not one.
@GodIsReal101 You seem like a nice enough person but I have to disagree. The god of Christianity is certainly not the first god, in fact the first religion most likely had a god for everything. As we began to understand more about the world we live in the list of gods got shorter, now some of the bigger religions only have one. There are some religions with no gods at all. So, would I be wrong, would I be separated from god if I chose to follow Thor or Ra? Or a religion with no god at all?
@GodIsReal101 My dear sir you are wrong there. It does not matter that you are not Muslim, if you believe in God and have been a good person, not stealing, not killing etc. The Quran states you will be allowed into Heaven, because your faith in God outweighs the fact that you didnt become Muslim. However, if you see that God in Christianity is different to the God of Islam, that is where you will be stuck.
@cr4yv3n Beheading and stoning is not said anywhere in the Quran that you have to do. It says you are ALLOWED to beat women, but only after severe events, but does not tell you you must do it. By allowed I mean you wont be punished for it. And how is that any less moral than stealing or killing which is what most people would do with no sense of punishment? (Hell)
@cr4yv3n Not sure about Indonesia, but yes, Saudi Arabia is the only other country that stones and beheads for stupid reasons other than commiting murder, and even then it is just execution, not stoning. What about Kuwait? UAE? Lebanon? Bahrain? Turkey? Kazakhstan? (the list goes on) these countries base their laws on Islam, not on themselves. Iran and Saudis laws are created by the radical leaders and governments, Quran does not promote it.
@hellohamza2 Turkey is secular - they vehemently reject islamic influence in the leadership.
I think most of the other countries also.
Lebanon is under attack by islamists - they nearly brought they country into the stone age ( so much for the Paris of the middle-east ) - they are good at that all over the world.
@cr4yv3n There is some influence, and in all arab countries. Yes, Lebanon I shouldnt have mentioned, but perhaps looking at the crime and killing rate of Kuwait and Saudi you will see it is not coincidence? Having some Islam influenced into the laws of a country will make it run great. Having a completely radical (i.e. changed and extreme to the point of idiocy, saudi, iran) that is obviously stupid and will not work. Balance is in order.
@cr4yv3n ?? It doesnt have to be state supported, it depends on what the country votes for! Iran obviously ahmedinejad got in most likely got in via cheating, but the people actually want the country to be an Islamic state. The other popular candidate would have still kept it an Islamic state so obviously they want it. Egypt werent, now look at them, and how fast an Islamic political group is growing there.
"State supported" means the state PAYS for the clergy.
And it's not fair. If 99.99% WANT islam, the simple fact that 0.01% do NOT makes it immoral to impose on them a "religion tax".
And the mistreated are far more than you think in Iran. Most likely most WOMEN would do away with islam on a whim if it weren't for the state support ( violence ).
@cr4yv3n Oh sorry I did get the wrong end of the stick. Women are extremely mistreated in Iran, I dont disagree with you. But that has nothing to do with Islam (well slightly) it does not say you should stone someone for not wearing a hijab in the Quran. They completely take everything to the extreme, and that is the governments fault. It does not say you HAVE to have religion tax. They do it themselves. Iran is messed up, but what is your point?
@hellohamza2 Actually women being mistreated has everything to with Islam - just read their holy book.
Take everything to the extreme?
Lol no, they are "good muslims" - in fact they are exactly as their religion says they should be. That's not "extreme" it's just right according to the book.
Christians ( like you probably ) who think THEIR religion is better should open up the old testament a bit and get a glimpse of the "love of god".
@cr4yv3n Please do not be stupid. I am a Muslim, I know what the book says. You dont even BEAT a woman let alone stone her just for not covering her hair. Jeez, you think I would be Muslim if it was like that? The only time it says you CAN (yes can, not MUST) beat a woman is if she cheats on you in marriage, and even then it is up to you. It is basically 'permission' you can say, i.e. if you do beat her, you it wont count against you in Judgement day.
@hellohamza2 If you're a muslim, you're not a very good one.
Your filthy book says GOD ( as in THE creator of the universe) WANTS ( don't bullshit me with "permissions" we all know what it says there ) wants you to follow his rules.
Stoning - there is no excuse for this. No matter how much you turn and twist it, it is BARBARIC and unfit for civilized society.
Don't believe me just OPEN the fucking book and read !
The best way to become an atheist is to READ your book!
@cr4yv3n Fucking hell you are an ignorant idiot i have read the Quran 9 TIMES. YES 9. And in those 9 times everything i read was in context and NOT translated, but in arabic, and so i got the FULL meaning of the WHOLE book. You reading a verse is bullshit, you have no right to insult a book by just reading a few sections of it, that applies for novels too!!! YOU ARE NOT TOLD TO STONE IN THE QURAN. It is mentioned that a murdering army was stoned, and that the idols in Saudi are stoned. THATS IT
@cr4yv3n Why does God have to be loving? (even though He is) why does He have to be whatever we want Him to be? HE IS GOD. He can be as destructive, merciless and horrible as He wants, because that is His right. He created us, we should be thankful for that in the first place. What Iran does is FUCKING extreme, not just extreme, and does not go with anything in the Quran. Obviously you havent read the Quran, and so are debating on foreign ground. You are ignorant. Iran is corrupt and horrible.
@cr4yv3n Hey guess what I read in the newspaper today? There is a planned coup that is going to take place (or failed, not sure) in bangladesh by the people in order to implement... come on guess? SHARIA LAW. The people want it.
@cr4yv3n The Christian God IS God. The God in Islam IS the Christian God. They are the same. I dont know how Christians can see it differently, and how they believe Jesus, a human, would be God. OK, you dont believe in God, but humour me. Would God, a being with so much power really present Himself as a human to us? AND die as well? Makes no sense. They believe in Jesus' second coming; but that means they believe in God's second coming which makes no sense.
@hellohamza2 The christian god ( there is no need for big fancy letters ) IS god. So ? He's as unreal as all gods or what is your point? Well most christians think their religion is good - and moral comes from their holy book - and the holy book says that , yeah the creator came down as a human to 'die' ( sleeping for 3 days =/= dying ). I don't know what beliefs you have but seriously, all gods are false and the product of imagination.
@hellohamza2 Your prophet was a pedophile, your holy book endorses pedophilia, slavery, genocide ( even in modern times ) and the uneducated WILL follow it to the letter.
Osama? He wasn't a terrorist, he was the BEST muslim according to the Koran teachings - the guy did EVERYTHING the book told him to.
Why? Because the poor sap thought it is the will of god !
@cr4yv3n OK fuck this you ended up being immature as I thought you would. Osama was a fucker, he was the best Muslim you stupid piece of shit?! YOU have the nerve to say he was the best Muslim?! He is responsible for SO MANY deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan, all over the world. OK fine, I will humour you, even if the Quran said that you 'must kill non believers' (bullshit, that was only in context with the time) then why was almost EVERYONE he killed a Muslim? He blew up Mosques! Fuck you.
@cr4yv3n I thought we could have a constructive arguement, but it seems you are so stuck in your lies about the Quran that you wont come out. You are NOT reading the WHOLE Quran with an open mind, and thus it completely eradicates the arguement of athiests having 'free minds'. Bullshit! You have to study all options of belief thoroughly WITH an open mind or you are just being a biased shit. Ive had enough of you but it seems you are just going to spurt crap with no support. Grow a brain kid.
@cr4yv3n I've never seen anyone ending an arguement with 'kid'. I assume you are a kid because of how you argued, it was stupid. I'm not giving my age as it would not make a difference anyway, I could say I was 40 but you know it might not be true or I could say I was 10 and you might not know it was true. Im not asking your age for the same reason. So I am ending this arguement here.
@GodIsReal101 Besides if god can send me to hell even though i was a good and moral person - that's just saying "might is right". Obviously i can't do anything to stop him, he's god - he has the power.
i love how christians think the rest of the world is miserable because we dont waste an hour every sunday and read from an old book (compiled from stories of older religions) that tries to disguise it self as fact. is it not possible to be a good person and have no god? :O
This is a mild form of persecution. My holy book says to kill all who do not accept the lord. Yours says to infringe on my rights to keep my faith with your persuasive speaking and obviously planned camera conversation. In today's world we need to adapt to rationality and not take all to faith, as they are clearly opposites when it comes to the mechanics of the human thought. So how about you reflect your faith inwardly instead of expansionistly, just as my people will not kill you.
ok instead of the roles reversed we will add EVERY religion in there and if you choose wrong you burn forever. this is a bad for you. you have just stepped into atheism. how do you then make your decision? how do you know its the right religion?
@muaythaijunky This is not a valid form to argue from. You the non believer are using other religions to argue on your behalf. This is not logical. You can't say there are no other Gods and then say I don't believe your what if question based on the fact that there could be many Gods?? This is a simple falacy in your worldview. Think about it and get back to me.
actually im ex christian, also i believe its valid because there are other religions and they themselves believe their beliefs to be true just as the Christians believe theirs are.im not saying they are true and no i dont believe in them. its puting you more in the spot of the atheist of having tons of religions around you each saying they are the true one. one may be but how do you know? they all say they feel it.
@muaythaijunky my answer to your EXACT question is i would go to hell. i would actually prefer that. i dont find your god morel or nice. there are many levels i disagree with the bible. morality is just one of them. any way moving on, what if your wrong? you had one life and you wasted it. it is gone forever. its a terrible wast. while i may burn forever i at least had a short happy run and if i had a thousand lives i would live it like the very first time. for you its a complete wast.
@GodIsReal101 now it comes down to instead of what if im wrong with just your religion to the open spectrum of all religions. what if i choose yours and its wrong? what if i choose another and its wrong? what if none are right or what if there isnt a god or gods? but it is a revers roll of what if your wrong. tho you believe in the one you do, what if you were born into a Muslim family, would things be the same except your Muslim? how would you know if the muslim ones right or wrong? see now?
@muaythaijunky This is a fallacy argument. It is like saying I know you are but what am I. Your clearly answering my question with a question. Why are you doing that. Is it fear of the answer? Is it knowledge of the truth? Is it pride? Is it a good argument you heard from another atheist? One may never know but the answer is still not an answer... Go ahead try and just answering the question without asking me a question see if you can do it....
@GodIsReal101 well the problem is you have already assumed you have the right religion and you are safe. this is disputed among the religious, fact is i could choose your religion and also still be wrong. in the end we both chose your religion and it was wrong. we could have both chose to be atheists and it turns out the Mormons had it right. im saying your question is a flawed one and i set in the actual question. you are not safe from damnation either way. its my own argument btw.
@muaythaijunky Let's say it this way, no one knows if there is a real god, but think of religion as a multiple choice question, and go with your theory only one could be correct. I could go with islam and perhaps be wrong but it's still an attempt at the question. Atheism is basically leaving the question blank, doing so gives you no chance. If you are a Chrisitan and find out your wrong, and there is no God what have you got to lose? Work on grammer, you're hard to follow
@PresBarack you can suffer for eternity for being wrong either way. also atheism is not leaving a blank, its none of the above. what it comes down to is, your right. their may or may not be a god, he is claiming he is right. he has to prove it, he has also assumed he is right. the problem is he placed his religion above others. all claim some thing. i dont claim any thing. i dont have to prove any thing either. fear alone is not a good reason to just believe any thing.
pascals wager, can you answer to my question as i answer yours? if he was real, i would not mind burning for i dont agree with his morality and commands he has in the bible. i live very strongly to my ideals and he has many punishments i dont find justified in the ten commandments. so in that despite knowing of his existence i would not agree with his morality and methods and find him to be evil. next message will be your question.
First belief is not a 'choice'. One cannot make oneself believe something, therefore one cannot 'reject' a belief by choice. Next one has to be clear about what one is being asked to believe. There are many competing claims about the nature of god and gods, most are mutually exclusive, one cannot believe in all of them. Which one is one to 'believe'? Pascal's wager assumes the ability to choose to believe and that there is only one choice.
This video proves your 'belief' is entirely based on fear. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest 'god' is a real being, so why waste your precious time on this planet worrying about being a good Christian when there is no basis to your belief other than a book being passed down through generations.
We are so insignificant in this universe we might as well not exist! Humans have always been naive about our importance, if there is a divine 'creator' it will have nothing to do with humanity.
I like your way of speaking and definitely have a good understanding of which you speak. However, it is my humble opinion you are asking yourself the wrong question. What if you were born into (and therefore believe in) the wrong god? I suspect you don't lose any sleep over this. And yet, your religion, like all religions, is a minority. Statistically it is more likely than not that you have chosen the wrong one. This is why I don't lose any sleep over Allah, Mahavira, Jesus, Baal or Sai Baba.
Interesting reply, that also misses the point and is based on a facile assumption that God only does good. Whenever Christians talk about "good", God "does it". Whenever evil, God passively "allows it". I will countenance the proposition that God exists and "does great things" like ending war, if you accept God also consciously and positively makes evil things happen, like starting wars, or the matters I discuss. Btw, don't bother with the circular "men start wars", because men also end them.
@Heritagius Did you get a chance to watch my video "The Answer To Evil" I answer these questions as there are many different world views that could come into play from free will to Good being forever in eternity so the things you stated are just a blink of an eye in the time scale of eternity. Check out the video. Also I don't prescribe to the thinking that you spoke of I just pointed out a dilemma you have if you blame God for evil you must adhere to a good standard and thus blame him for Good
@Heritagius Great question. I first must reply, I don't know why and what God allows for every instance in this world I think that is a fair question but I am just a man seeking answers in this life like you. But I do know that your dilemma is an old one. It is the problem with evil. Why does God allow evil things to happen. Well I would ask you see my video on The Answer To Evil. But in short you are saying God did these bad things thus you must state God did great things like ending War
IF GOD IS REAL I WILL SEE YOU IN HELL! :D AND I WILL KICK THE DEVILS ASS AND SET HIM ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!! THE TRUTH IS THERE IS NO GOD AND IM AFRAID TO DIE BECAUSE I HAVE ONLY MY LIFE THERE IS NO AFTER LIFE
I'm sure someone has mentioned this before... But what if YOU are wrong? Not the wrong you think - what if the MUSLIM god is real? I'm sure he would not approve of you loving jesus so much and not following Mohammed. You fail, sir.
The real problem isn't God's message of "be good" - it's the messiness and inconsistencies inherent on all the religions based off the "bible." - A collection of books from a wide range of authors written in an age and area of the world primitive and ignorant. A talking snake. Honor your parents. Disobey your parents. Does that word mean Dragon, sea serpent, whale, or jackal?
Certain churches see Gay people as Damned. Others accept. Both claim "Christianity."
@arthurjeremypearson I believe you speak in the error of minority not majority of Christians. True Christians let the bible speak on those topics. It is clear what the bible says on each one. But there are few like in all walks of life that distort the truth in the bible for their own gain. So I would challenge you to quote from the bible not what some man says in Florida or Iowa. Read what the holy scriptures say.
what if your wrong what if the greeks were right what if the Buddhist were right or the Egyptians the ancient chinese the Muslims i think worshipping false gods would make the real god more angry than worshipping no god at all so your taking just as much as a risk if not more of one
Let me guess, that one you stole from laplace... I mean it´s ok if you agree.
But if would force myself to live with the strict rules of a god that doesn´t exist, I would waive my right to do what i want and if that´s the only life we´ve got (and that´s what I am thinking) I will never get another chance to do such things.
And if your right and god exists I think that he will prefer a guy who truly believes in the way he´s living, than one who just pretends that he´s following his commandments.
I am a good person therefore a just God would not punish me. If God were to punish me I would see that as unjust and would be unable to love the God (you cant love and fear someone at the same time) therefore I would be doomed to hell whatever I did. Also which denomination would I choose? Catholic or Orthodox?
@MamaMario13 When children are young they are given rules by their parents. Most children obey those rules that are usually for their own good. The reason they obey those rules is out of two basic truths. One being respect love and trust that their parents have given them these rules for their own good. Two being because their parents have given them an example of a punishment for breaking those rules. So the second reason is based on a healthy fear of breaking the rules. God works the same way
@GodIsReal101 how can u equate eternal torture for minor transgressions with parent discipline? a good parent will stop the punishment eventually. Also is it not true that if u do not "love" god you cannot be saved? Sounds like thoughtcrime to me
@GodIsReal101 also u have literally no evidence for the existance of God, if you have all the answers tell it to the muslims, jews, hindus etc. stop singling out atheists
@GodIsReal101 You didn't answer MamaMario's question. If Mama is a kind, loving, just, moral person who resembles a saint except for believing in god, why would god punish her?
My question would go further. We are god's children. Why would a good child be punished for the "sin" of ignoring the existence of a parent that has ceased speaking (is effectively dead to all scientific instruments) for 2,000 years?
I am a good, moral person, and I treat myself and others others with love, kindness, and empathy. Do I believe in God? No, I do not.
Does that mean I'm going to Hell? I'm not sure. I can't find any solid evidence that a blissful afterlife awaits us, or an agonizing inferno, for that matter. I still act morally, and for the benefit of humanity. The Bible says "God" judges us on our actions, and faith. I sure hope he has mercy on those who do good without it.
God's perfect, so should have a perfect sense of justice, right? Why would he send anyone to Hell--to an *eternal* state of misery--as an infinite punishment for a limited amount of sin? How's that justice? And if somehow a finite amount of sin does deserve infinite punishment, why would the criteria to receive God's grace be to pick the right religion? Is it perfect to be so unfair? Is Jesus impotent to save people who wrongly guessed that he was not their lord and savior?
What if you're wrong ? Then you wasted your life. And the bible has more brutallity and murder than anything else. And your god is only loving to people that bow down and pledge their life to him (like a dictator) and if you don't he threatens to have you tortured for eternity. No thanks, you can keep your god.
Interesting the way that Christians use scare tactics to encourage other people to believe what they do because they don't understand that the existence of the world/universe is not explained by some all-powerful cloudman.
You may plead altruism, but actually the reason that you want others to believe in your pretend person is to affirm your own belief, as you are unable to understand our existence in any way other than a fairytale written hundreds of years ago.
I do like how you related it to someone committing suicide to Christianity, but it is again a different situation, one who is about to commit suicide will die if they do so, this is factual, it is not a proven fact that one who is a Christian will be separated from god.
It was a very nice video, but didnt change my ideas on religion.
Then I guess you are saying the only ones who can live a fulfilling life are Christians?
What if you are wrong and OTHER gods exist?
In other words your wanting people to devote their life on the basis that there may be a chance of going to hell, fear factors which are used to control.
You example is invalid considering cigarettes are proven to cause cancer where as non-Christians are not proven to go to hell, it is completely different situations.
If God is how many christians claims, he knew my death before I was born, he wold know my reason, my logic and why I feel however I do, I believe he should judge me on that, and not judge me on trying to believe something that seems so absurd and unnatural to hwo I view the world. I am gods creation, he will understand my position better than me (thats if you believe he exists anyway).
I'm wise enough to always sleep with my head under the covers, because I believe that there's a boogeyman, somewhere in my room every night, who's gonna get me - unless I'm under the covers.
I know most of you don't believe in this boogeyman, but let me ask you - what if you're wrong?
It's a serious matter - consider what's at stake!
I'll go 1st. If I'm wrong, I lose nothing. I sleep a little more peacefully, delusion or not, knowing the covers protect me.
-You waste your time on praying to a nonexistent being when you could be doing something constructive to solve the problems of your family, friends and yourself.
-You waste your money on preachers and churches, when you could donate to causes like disease research and disaster relief.
-You hate people like gays or Muslims because it doesn't fit your religious view.
-You vote for politicians who pretend to share your beliefs ignoring other factors.
If god actually was real...and he sends me to hell because I did not believe in him, EVEN if I had a good life and had a great family...then he isn't a god. He's a heartless monster.
This video is silly. A rehashing of Pascal's Wager - a tired, flawed, and long discredited arguement. You assume only two possibilities - either your God and view of the after life or none. There are many other possiblitiies. What if one of them is right? Should we follow every religion and god in case they're right?
Also, the cancer and smoking analogy is flawed. We know for a fact that cancer exists. However, do we have that certainty about the next world, or if it even exists ?
I know that my tone is somewhat sarcastic, but that is to make my point in an engaging and thought-provoking way, not at all to insult or mock.
Embedded in my raspy tone is two serious questions:
1) Given your "What if you're wrong?" argument, how can you not consider Islam to be an option? (Or any other religion for that matter.) How does your argument not apply to Islam?
2) If you accept this argument, how does a person "start believing" in Christ as Lord or Muhammad/Allah? Flip a switch?
@TheHogTieChamp Great questions.. I will answer. I have considered Islam and have found it to be false based on three categories: No prophecies fullfilled. Not the same message that Jesus Spoke acutally takes steps backwards from Jesus and his turn the other cheek teachings or all of the world can be saved even the gentile. And last the denial of who what and where Jesus Christ was and is. So it clearly is a cult. So where have I not CONSIDERED? Last Faith is by belief and relationship first..
@GodIsReal101 All good points, and I agree with you. Neither you or I believe the Qur'an to be divinely inspired or inerrant.
But do you not see how you changed gears there? When considering Islam, you looked at their holy book and their claims and you applied a standard of evidence. In the end, your personal judgment is that Islam is false.
But that's not the question. The question is, "What if you're wrong?"
Snakes biting your face.. Head smashed with a hammer over and over... Serious stuff!
@TheHogTieChamp Good points as well. Let me clarify. If I am wrong and Islam is the right path to God. Then I would enter their Hell. Which makes me think I should consider Islam which I have and once investigated then the truth lead me to my faith in Jesus Christ. So the question "What if I am Wrong" lead me to a path of research and soul seeking. On the side of non belief there is no chance for this process to begin as non belief has stalled the process. One must consider then seek honestly.
@TheHog Islam, nor any other religion (btw, Jesus is not a religion) offers any kind of redemption or reconciliation with God.They are all work based. We cannot work our way into God's presence. No matter how much "good" we do,we are still wretched.I've been a follower of Jesus for a loooong time & I still mess up!Like, every day! It's impossible to be "good". Jesus said, "Not one is good, no not one." I mean, look at Noah- God spoke directly to him & he got off the ark & got drunk. We are WRETCHED!
@jtika1978 The point that Islam doesn't offer any kind of redemption or reconciliation with "God" does not make sense. Nor does it help to add that Islam is a work-based religion. This is because factors like that change between religions, so there is no use comparing them. In Islam, you 'can' make it in to heaven by performing works to please Allah, and in Christianity, you can only get into heaven by repentance of sin. So no, a Christian cannot make it in to heaven through works. cont-
@TheHogTieChamp Sorry- not trying to butt into you and GodIsReal's conversation, but I understand your questions. They are normal, and natural. And there ARE answers.
But I believe your point is that I should *maximize* my chances of Salvation, right?
Okay then... I'm in! Let's do this! You 'n me, buddy!
Let's convert to Islam.
You see, the Qur'an is explicit on this point: All non-believers are doomed to gruesome torture... Snakes biting our faces, hammers smashing our heads flat into the ground... On and on... All for not rejecting Christ (as Lord) and accepting Mohammad.
You and I had better start believing! Go. Start now.
Some Christians believe that God will judge me fairly based on my heart and my actions, not automatically torturing me for eternity simply because I didn't worship. Other Christians say there is more scriptural support for the position that salvation is available ONLY through Jesus Christ.
So even if Christ is Lord, then I still have some chance of Salvation through my good works. Maybe God sends atheists to hell... maybe not...
@TheHog you definitely don't have a chance on good works.Try using that in a court of law- "I know I robbed this person, Judge, but I helped an old lady carry her groceries the other day" Would the judge just let the criminal go without punishment?Or is he obligated to uphold justice? No matter how many good deeds you do, you are guilty of breaking God's laws. Good deeds do not make up for that. & no matter what, you will again break God's laws. This is why we NEED the Savior. He pays our fine.
@jtika1978 I am entertained by the comparison of God judgment with that of a judge in a criminal trial.
Okay... So you say that I wouldn't get out of trouble for robbing someone just because I had also helped a lady carry her groceries. Fair enough.
But what you're saying is that you could go to court and say, "Dear kind and loving Judge... I believe in you! I love you very much!" and you would get away scott-free.
Is that the kind of judge you want in criminal courts?
@TheHogTieChamp Nope not at all. I want a just and grace giving God. And that is what this judge is. You see this judge paid for the penality for you and me. An infinite being came down in humility and gave up his perfect life to die for the sins of the world past, present, and future. So by trusting in him and by stating you would like to utilize your free choice to not reject that gift but accept it. Well that is something me and you can't even grasp. But God offers it to you and me.. Amazing!
@TheHogTieChamp It's not a comparison, it's an analogy. And just believing is not what saves us. It's REPENTENCE which means constant fleeing from sin. Salvation comes with repentence, confession that Jesus is Lord and then a complete trust in Him. It has nothing to do with believing. Satan and the demons believe in God. Many people believe but are not saved. A majority really. Jesus said not everyone who cries, "Lord, Lord!" will enter into His Kingdom.
@jtika1978 An analogy is a comparison based on similarities. So yes, it is a comparison. So, to say that a person cannot get in to heaven by works is to speak from a Christian point of view, and to say a person cannot get in to heaven by asking God for forgiveness and repenting is from an Islamic point of view. Therefore, you cannot argue this. And if you truly believe the Bible, then if you sin at all after being "saved" then you will go to hell, one must repent and "sin no more," literally.
@GodIsReal101 I know this is not a direct response, but hear me out. So long as you're living your life assuming that this is all you get, and that you should do your best to ensure that not only you but those around you are bettering themselves everyday, I see no problem with religious belief. My problem is that there are so many religions, so many faiths, deities, ideologies, theologies, that ultimately no matter which one I choose to believe in "just in case" I have a chance of being wrong.
@Wangler7 Great comment. You are correct that if you look at choosing the right God it can be a challenge. That is where faith and education and a true seeker comes in. I did this myself and would ask that all do the same. The main point of this video is that if you choose nothing than you have the lowest possible chance of getting eternity right so it is a wise choice to search is the first point. From there I believe God does not hide from the true seeker. Read the book of John in the bible.
I got nothing against christians but you seem to have a pretty good life. You got here by making choices yourself, Nobody made them for you. God is mere example of somebody to follow and make the right decisions. He was created so people wouldn't go crazy and make bad choices. Where would we be today if nobody believed in God? I am native american and christians screwed my people over but I'm not holding a grudge.
Please take a number and stand in line with all the “What if you are wrong about my god” geniuses out there and while you are at it try to agree among yourselves on the same god if you don’t wish to come across as a bunch of hypocrites and babbling idiots. Next!
Your question implies that we would regret not believing in the god of the bible if we found out he really exists, along with all his childish nonsensical laws, twisted moral and stories of extermination. Think again.
This question never really get's answered, yet if it could be ansered I would have no problem being a Christian. What seperates christianity from every other religion, in terms of validity? Any religion could be right. The only reply I've gotten is to have faith that Christianity is right. That doesn't help lol. I want to believe in God, and I'm pretty sure there is a God, but does it have to be the christian god.
@DeadlyThrashViking It is a great question. Here is how I would answer. Christianity is unique that unlike every other religion you can't work your way into God's good grace. You can't work your way into heaven. You are saved only by the faith, belief, and life you live through Jesus Christ. It is by him dying on a cross for the sins of mankind that you are made right with God. It is the great gift. So to accept the gift is eternal life. To deny the free gift is to deny God and to be seperated.
@GodIsReal101 You're wrong in some things. Christianity is just a religion. Christianity and just believing in God will get you no where. You do need to work at being a follower of god. Its not about religion its about relationship with god. Doing Gods will. By having faith and no works behind it is like having no faith. You enter into the kingdom of heaven by doing gods will. Baptize the holy spirit and faith.
You asked atheists such as myself: What if we are wrong, and god does exist?
My question to you would be: What if you are wrong and Thor does exist? Or if Ra exists, or if any of the other gods that have ever been conceived do exist instead of the Christian god? You would be in the same situation as me.
I have no reason to think any of them are true though. The one thing I am sure of is that I have a life and I intend to make the most of it.
GodIsReal101 Thank you so much for the work you are doing for God. A lot of people will probably come against you and what you do. But the Bible says we will be persecuted for the cause of Christ. Keep it up, blessings!
i understand your idea of living and believing in god is ok even if he's not real. but you would also be iggnorant to the truth of man. you and many like you would slow the advancement of man through ignorance. and honestly i don't think "playing it safe" by choosing to believe in god just in case he's real is what religion is about.
Non-theists like myself are frustrated with this argument because it has been refuted over and over for hundreds of years. This is Pascal's Wager restated... poorly.
Problem #1 You assume that the Christian god is god or there is no god, forgetting the 10's of thousands of other gods that are worshiped that we both could be wrong about.
Garry Habermas debate with Antony Flew on the issue " did Jesus rise from the dead ?"
a professional debate judge who was asked to evaluate the debate concludes
the historical evidence , though flawed , is strong enough to lead reasonable minds to conclude that Christ did indeed rise from the dead .... Habermas dose end up providing "highly probably evidence" for the historicity of the resurrection " with no plausible naturalistic evidence against it"
You are one funny guy. Here is the right way to say this: What are the chances that there is a God vs. no God? 1/1. OK so you choose that God does exist, what are the chances that you chose the right belief? 1/3 (mono-theistic). I am assuming you are Christen, So what are the chances that you got the right sect of Christianity? 1/3,000-4,000. Now what if you chose the wrong sect? guess what you are going to burn in hell right with us atheist (as all other religions condemn the other). Have Fun!
A Christian is someone who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died for their sins on a cross 2000 years ago and rose from the grave three days later. The person who believes this and says this in their heart and to the public is a Christian. There is only one group of Christians those who accept this truth of our God. So your numbers of 3000 or 4000 are false. Your pointing out the different worship locations but it is still one body of believers. I didn't see your % in your post??
A quick search on Wikipedia shows there are 38,000 Christian denominations, so yes my numbers are false. According to many of these denominations (denomination seems to be the correct word and not sect) claim the other denominations are not "real christens" and many believe they are going to hell. (as an example; Baptist vs. Catholics vs. Mormons) So let me ask you this, what if the Mormons are right? What if the Muslims are right? I guess I'll see you in hell according to your belief.
I once again have to correct you. What you did was look up denominations which is a group of Christianity not a seperate belief. Some like to sing loud some old hyms just because there church offers that does not make the message from the bible they both preach out of different. If it is the bible they are teaching then they are Christians Catholics are Christians as the root word being Christ. We are all believers of the one true God. Once again what are your numbers for non belief? Lower right
I understand that. but once again, I have herd many arguments and fights between christens all claiming that the other is going to hell. And this is from preachers and higher authority figures. Your denomination may not do it but many others do.
Also that is besides the point. even if you count all the christens you chances of a mono-theistic god are around 1/3, and that is not including a deistic god or the polytheistic gods out there. Guess what, my odds are still 1/1.
I happen to be 65 and the older I get the more inimical I become toward religious beliefs.
What would you give up in this life? (I assume you mean by being religious.)
The answer is everything. To be Christian is to live under a microscope of what Hitchens calls divine invigilation. Do you believe God follows you into the bathroom? Thats gotta suck. Your life isnt your own.
I am sure all jokes aside you understood my point on the smoking analogy. The question is what do I give up as a Christian that you don't have to as a non believer? I am not speaking philosophical so I am actually looking for something tangible.
GodisReal, Im only commenting on your video because you seem to have a head on your shoulders (unlike many Christians). I dig your rational approach.
You are merely restating Pascals Wager here. Be certain that non-believers like myself have already considered this supposition and have rejected Gods way out of hand.
Even if some cleric dreamed up the most terrifying, cruel, sadistic hell conceivable, it still isnt worth giving up this life.
I appreciate your approach as well my friend. I have one question in regards to your last sentence. What would you give up in this life? Also are you saying if there was a hell I guess I still wouldn't change? That does not seem rational. I make that point in my video we see it everyday. People who have smoked for years and said "I won't get cancer I don't care if I get cancer I will be 50 or 60 then anyways". They do care when they are 50 or 60 and get cancer. What if it is like that for you?
The chances of an all-good God creating such a place are nil. God could never punish someone for refusing to abandon reason: do you really believe Eve was created from Adams rib? Cmon.
Check out the endmeme on YouTube. Ill give you an idea why religious people are dangerous. Perhaps make a comment there and Ill get back to you, okay?
What if atheism is right? I prefer to live my life as if it is the only one I will have. If I am wrong, I can still feel ok with my stance because I didn't go through life with the fear and threat of some sky zombie making me suffer if I didn't follow his/her/it's teachings and bullshit. How any reasonable, sensible person can actually think such a supernatural entity exists, with no evidence whatsoever, is beyond my comprehension. This yr marks 44 yrs of happiness with my stance. I love life.
Atheism being right is a oxymoron. Atheism is the lack of God. By your own words you admit it is a belief which is a faith which is not empirical. So your first sentence is confusing. Some would say that for a short time living in Sin can seem fun. The difference is that you are rejecting true love by rejecting the free choice to pick God by rejecting him you have rejected love . You may love your sin for 75 years but WHAT IF YOUR WRONG FOR ALL ETERNITY? THAT IS THE QUESTION? THINK ABOUT IT
@GodisReal101: Would this argument you make convince you to believe, if you didn't already believe in God? Is the reason you believe based on this wager?
If not, why would anyone else be convinced by it?
If I don't believe in God, do you think it's possible for me to pretend to believe convincingly enough so that I will be let into heaven?
Many people have stated they first began their search for a God because they were not sure they were right. They felt they had many things to loose if they were wrong about their non belief. Look at the author A.N, Wilson he was a popular atheist even quoted in a few Dawkins books late last year he became a Christian he said he saw his mother die as a believer and his father die as an atheist and what he saw changed his life. This was a man who wrote books denouncing Jesus Christ.
Personal experience is personal experience. We can't base what we believe on how others have perceived events in their lives.
My main objection to your video is that you don't believe what you believe based on this wager you put forth. You have other reasons.
The second objection is that it's a bad argument. The two points that destroy it are, a) there are literally thousands of religions that could be right and make us both be wrong, b) I can't pretend to believe so that I fulfill the wager.
Smoking causes cancer. We know this. Your or anyone else's god being real. We don't know this. Bad analogy.
So what your proposition boils down to is that you have turned your religion in to a roulette game. I'm sure your god is well pleased with your sincerity.
Unfortunately this is, and will always be a stupid question. The question you should have asked yourself is, "What if I'm wrong, about the uncountable thousands of other religions that exist" as Richard Dawkins says, everyone is an atheist to most religions, atheists just take it one further.
Yes, an atheist is less likely to be right.. must be divine intervention that allowed you to figure that one out.
I believe in no religion, you believe in one religion out of the countless religions that have existed throughout the years. In reality your chances of being right are just about as thin as mine.
Now that is just statistically false.. If it is a dead religion than it must have been false which means there are only about 100 or so to choose from. So you choose 0 out of 100 I choose 1 out of 100. Get your calculator out and let me know who is more logical...
Yes of blind faith, post on my channel if you want to try to convert an Atheist. I need religion in my life, so please prove to me that God exists. I am but a lost soul...
I blocked you for one reason. I have no problem with you posting questions but this is my channel and if you want to write a book you can do it on your own channel. They call that spam here on youtube.
P.S. Because I know the ending of a movie does not mean the directors did not have free will to make the movie. Simple answer to a simple question.
To conclude, I care about the future of humankind, so I will live to pursue scientific advancement: not the pursuit of exultation of a mythical, ethereal being (which if you believe the Bible, this being would be fallible and therefore not omniscient).
Straw man. I could ask every point on your science. If science is truth how come it can be wrong and yet it still is right? If evolution is a theory yet incomplete why is it preached in the schools. Why praise the stars and universe and the complexity and natural selection pieces when you could praise the creator of the complexity the God of the universe? When you have free choice to love then there must be the option for you to reject love.
Here is the end all to any point that you try to validate without even the slightest bit of evidence in the empirical sense or logical sense. You have no foundation on which to build any argument that contains support, meaning that a valid point must have sources of accreditation. Before you try the rebuttal of the Bible being the source, the po
when someone commits suicide, they are killing themselves (maiming their body to the point that it does not function, resulting in death).

If, on the other hand, you accept my unprovable claim at face value and do everything I tell you to, giving me all your free will and ceding control to me, then you "lose" nothing!
tl:dr pascal was a moron.

The problem doesn't go away with belief.
comodocomodos 1 month ago
I am Muslim, and God is indeed real. Stop listening to atheist scientists, and stop looking at all the negative misunderstandings. Ignore it all and look at what God did for you. He created you when you were nothing in your mother's womb. This world we live in, it's so complex, that it cannot have been by coincidence, I'm sorry but it just couldn't, look at it logically.
The key to have a close relation with God is faith, something that science lacks.

Your diety is a DICK. ok?
ok.

What if a Christian is wrong...
It may be that no God exists, so he lives a good life, etc. No loss.
Or it may be that a God does exist, just not his own. He may be damned to eternal hellfire.
What if an atheist is wrong...
It may be that the God which exists casts him into hellfire.
Or it may be that the God which exists doesn't. After all, he's lived a good life, etc.

GodIsReal101 5 months ago
@GodIsReal101
It's not a deflection, it's a sound criticism of the poor logic behind the question. And my answer does apply to the God of the Bible: he may send me to hell or he may not. It's not my place to know.
justicecallicles 5 months ago
@justicecallicles What does the bible say will happen to you if you reject Jesus Christ as the savior of your soul. The only thing that can stand between you and your sins and God? Simple answer.. Which we both know the answer to. So then the next question is this. Being an atheist who is taking the larger mathmatical risk in rejecting a God? Me or you?
GodIsReal101 5 months ago
@GodIsReal101

I'm not one.
justicecallicles 5 months ago
@GodIsReal101 You seem like a nice enough person but I have to disagree. The god of Christianity is certainly not the first god, in fact the first religion most likely had a god for everything. As we began to understand more about the world we live in the list of gods got shorter, now some of the bigger religions only have one. There are some religions with no gods at all. So, would I be wrong, would I be separated from god if I chose to follow Thor or Ra? Or a religion with no god at all?
Trisbreya 4 months ago
@GodIsReal101 My dear sir you are wrong there. It does not matter that you are not Muslim, if you believe in God and have been a good person, not stealing, not killing etc. The Quran states you will be allowed into Heaven, because your faith in God outweighs the fact that you didnt become Muslim. However, if you see that God in Christianity is different to the God of Islam, that is where you will be stuck.
hellohamza2 2 months ago
@hellohamza2 The Quran also states women are inferior to men and they can be beaten, that you behead and stone people.
Is that "good" and "moral" too?
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n Beheading and stoning is not said anywhere in the Quran that you have to do. It says you are ALLOWED to beat women, but only after severe events, but does not tell you you must do it. By allowed I mean you wont be punished for it. And how is that any less moral than stealing or killing which is what most people would do with no sense of punishment? (Hell)
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n Do not take events that happen in corrupt and idiotic iran and apply it to Islam.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 How about Saudi Arabia then?
Or maybe Indonesia?
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n Not sure about Indonesia, but yes, Saudi Arabia is the only other country that stones and beheads for stupid reasons other than commiting murder, and even then it is just execution, not stoning. What about Kuwait? UAE? Lebanon? Bahrain? Turkey? Kazakhstan? (the list goes on) these countries base their laws on Islam, not on themselves. Iran and Saudis laws are created by the radical leaders and governments, Quran does not promote it.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 Turkey is secular - they vehemently reject islamic influence in the leadership.
I think most of the other countries also.
Lebanon is under attack by islamists - they nearly brought they country into the stone age ( so much for the Paris of the middle-east ) - they are good at that all over the world.
Daar Al-Islam, right? Peace....yeah...sure..
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n There is some influence, and in all arab countries. Yes, Lebanon I shouldnt have mentioned, but perhaps looking at the crime and killing rate of Kuwait and Saudi you will see it is not coincidence? Having some Islam influenced into the laws of a country will make it run great. Having a completely radical (i.e. changed and extreme to the point of idiocy, saudi, iran) that is obviously stupid and will not work. Balance is in order.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 HAving no religion at all into the laws is great - why can't religion be a damn private thing?
Why does it have to be 'state-supported' at all?
Look at Norway, they are doing great.
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n ?? It doesnt have to be state supported, it depends on what the country votes for! Iran obviously ahmedinejad got in most likely got in via cheating, but the people actually want the country to be an Islamic state. The other popular candidate would have still kept it an Islamic state so obviously they want it. Egypt werent, now look at them, and how fast an Islamic political group is growing there.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 You misunderstand.
"State supported" means the state PAYS for the clergy.
And it's not fair. If 99.99% WANT islam, the simple fact that 0.01% do NOT makes it immoral to impose on them a "religion tax".
And the mistreated are far more than you think in Iran. Most likely most WOMEN would do away with islam on a whim if it weren't for the state support ( violence ).
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n Oh sorry I did get the wrong end of the stick. Women are extremely mistreated in Iran, I dont disagree with you. But that has nothing to do with Islam (well slightly) it does not say you should stone someone for not wearing a hijab in the Quran. They completely take everything to the extreme, and that is the governments fault. It does not say you HAVE to have religion tax. They do it themselves. Iran is messed up, but what is your point?
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 Actually women being mistreated has everything to with Islam - just read their holy book.
Take everything to the extreme?
Lol no, they are "good muslims" - in fact they are exactly as their religion says they should be. That's not "extreme" it's just right according to the book.
Christians ( like you probably ) who think THEIR religion is better should open up the old testament a bit and get a glimpse of the "love of god".
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n Please do not be stupid. I am a Muslim, I know what the book says. You dont even BEAT a woman let alone stone her just for not covering her hair. Jeez, you think I would be Muslim if it was like that? The only time it says you CAN (yes can, not MUST) beat a woman is if she cheats on you in marriage, and even then it is up to you. It is basically 'permission' you can say, i.e. if you do beat her, you it wont count against you in Judgement day.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 If you're a muslim, you're not a very good one.

THATS IT
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n Why does God have to be loving? (even though He is) why does He have to be whatever we want Him to be? HE IS GOD. He can be as destructive, merciless and horrible as He wants, because that is His right. He created us, we should be thankful for that in the first place. What Iran does is FUCKING extreme, not just extreme, and does not go with anything in the Quran. Obviously you havent read the Quran, and so are debating on foreign ground. You are ignorant. Iran is corrupt and horrible.

@GodIsReal101 Obviously if the god of the bible is real and i reject him, i am screwed - but he is a dick.
He hid himself on purpose then devised a special torture place for me just because i wasn't dumb enough to believe without evidence.

They believe in Jesus' second coming; but that means they believe in God's second coming which makes no sense.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 The christian god ( there is no need for big fancy letters ) IS god. So ? He's as unreal as all gods or what is your point? Well most christians think their religion is good - and moral comes from their holy book - and the holy book says that , yeah the creator came down as a human to 'die' ( sleeping for 3 days =/= dying ). I don't know what beliefs you have but seriously, all gods are false and the product of imagination.
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 Your prophet was a pedophile, your holy book endorses pedophilia, slavery, genocide ( even in modern times ) and the uneducated WILL follow it to the letter.
Osama? He wasn't a terrorist, he was the BEST muslim according to the Koran teachings - the guy did EVERYTHING the book told him to.
Why? Because the poor sap thought it is the will of god !
This is how "harmless" religion is.
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n OK fuck this you ended up being immature as I thought you would. Osama was a fucker, he was the best Muslim you stupid piece of shit?! YOU have the nerve to say he was the best Muslim?! He is responsible for SO MANY deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan, all over the world. OK fine, I will humour you, even if the Quran said that you 'must kill non believers' (bullshit, that was only in context with the time) then why was almost EVERYONE he killed a Muslim? He blew up Mosques! Fuck you.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n I thought we could have a constructive arguement, but it seems you are so stuck in your lies about the Quran that you wont come out. You are NOT reading the WHOLE Quran with an open mind, and thus it completely eradicates the arguement of athiests having 'free minds'. Bullshit! You have to study all options of belief thoroughly WITH an open mind or you are just being a biased shit. Ive had enough of you but it seems you are just going to spurt crap with no support. Grow a brain kid.
hellohamza2 1 month ago
@hellohamza2 How old are you?
No, please, entertain me, how old are you? I see everyone ending arguments with this "kid" thing, how old are you?
I bet i can be your father.
cr4yv3n 1 month ago
@cr4yv3n I've never seen anyone ending an arguement with 'kid'. I assume you are a kid because of how you argued, it was stupid. I'm not giving my age as it would not make a difference anyway, I could say I was 40 but you know it might not be true or I could say I was 10 and you might not know it was true. Im not asking your age for the same reason. So I am ending this arguement here.

@GodIsReal101 Besides if god can send me to hell even though i was a good and moral person - that's just saying "might is right". Obviously i can't do anything to stop him, he's god - he has the power.
But guess what? He's a DICK.

i love how christians think the rest of the world is miserable because we dont waste an hour every sunday and read from an old book (compiled from stories of older religions) that tries to disguise it self as fact. is it not possible to be a good person and have no god? :O
MrMbuttery 6 months ago
This is a mild form of persecution. My holy book says to kill all who do not accept the lord. Yours says to infringe on my rights to keep my faith with your persuasive speaking and obviously planned camera conversation. In today's world we need to adapt to rationality and not take all to faith, as they are clearly opposites when it comes to the mechanics of the human thought. So how about you reflect your faith inwardly instead of expansionistly, just as my people will not kill you.
gorejoran 7 months ago
ok instead of the roles reversed we will add EVERY religion in there and if you choose wrong you burn forever. this is a bad for you. you have just stepped into atheism. how do you then make your decision? how do you know its the right religion?
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
@muaythaijunky This is not a valid form to argue from. You the non believer are using other religions to argue on your behalf. This is not logical. You can't say there are no other Gods and then say I don't believe your what if question based on the fact that there could be many Gods?? This is a simple falacy in your worldview. Think about it and get back to me.
GodIsReal101 7 months ago
@GodIsReal101 hello glad to hear your reply! :)
actually im ex christian, also i believe its valid because there are other religions and they themselves believe their beliefs to be true just as the Christians believe theirs are.im not saying they are true and no i dont believe in them. its puting you more in the spot of the atheist of having tons of religions around you each saying they are the true one. one may be but how do you know? they all say they feel it.
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
@muaythaijunky my answer to your EXACT question is i would go to hell. i would actually prefer that. i dont find your god morel or nice. there are many levels i disagree with the bible. morality is just one of them. any way moving on, what if your wrong? you had one life and you wasted it. it is gone forever. its a terrible wast. while i may burn forever i at least had a short happy run and if i had a thousand lives i would live it like the very first time. for you its a complete wast.
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
@GodIsReal101 now it comes down to instead of what if im wrong with just your religion to the open spectrum of all religions. what if i choose yours and its wrong? what if i choose another and its wrong? what if none are right or what if there isnt a god or gods? but it is a revers roll of what if your wrong. tho you believe in the one you do, what if you were born into a Muslim family, would things be the same except your Muslim? how would you know if the muslim ones right or wrong? see now?
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
@muaythaijunky This is a fallacy argument. It is like saying I know you are but what am I. Your clearly answering my question with a question. Why are you doing that. Is it fear of the answer? Is it knowledge of the truth? Is it pride? Is it a good argument you heard from another atheist? One may never know but the answer is still not an answer... Go ahead try and just answering the question without asking me a question see if you can do it....
GodIsReal101 7 months ago
@GodIsReal101 well the problem is you have already assumed you have the right religion and you are safe. this is disputed among the religious, fact is i could choose your religion and also still be wrong. in the end we both chose your religion and it was wrong. we could have both chose to be atheists and it turns out the Mormons had it right. im saying your question is a flawed one and i set in the actual question. you are not safe from damnation either way. its my own argument btw.
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
@muaythaijunky Let's say it this way, no one knows if there is a real god, but think of religion as a multiple choice question, and go with your theory only one could be correct. I could go with islam and perhaps be wrong but it's still an attempt at the question. Atheism is basically leaving the question blank, doing so gives you no chance. If you are a Chrisitan and find out your wrong, and there is no God what have you got to lose? Work on grammer, you're hard to follow
PresBarack 7 months ago
@PresBarack you can suffer for eternity for being wrong either way. also atheism is not leaving a blank, its none of the above. what it comes down to is, your right. their may or may not be a god, he is claiming he is right. he has to prove it, he has also assumed he is right. the problem is he placed his religion above others. all claim some thing. i dont claim any thing. i dont have to prove any thing either. fear alone is not a good reason to just believe any thing.
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
@GodIsReal101 also where do you get that i "fear" the answer? its like me saying you fear Hades, you obviously don't.
"Is it knowledge of the truth?"
this is assumed.
"Is it pride?"
no. i found it as an assuming question.
now answer my question, "what if" your wrong and another religion has it right? and "what if" none are true?
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
pascals wager, can you answer to my question as i answer yours? if he was real, i would not mind burning for i dont agree with his morality and commands he has in the bible. i live very strongly to my ideals and he has many punishments i dont find justified in the ten commandments. so in that despite knowing of his existence i would not agree with his morality and methods and find him to be evil. next message will be your question.
muaythaijunky 7 months ago
This whole video can be summed up with two words.
PASCALS WAGER!
RandomSnot 8 months ago
First belief is not a 'choice'. One cannot make oneself believe something, therefore one cannot 'reject' a belief by choice. Next one has to be clear about what one is being asked to believe. There are many competing claims about the nature of god and gods, most are mutually exclusive, one cannot believe in all of them. Which one is one to 'believe'? Pascal's wager assumes the ability to choose to believe and that there is only one choice.
herbiepop 8 months ago
This video proves your 'belief' is entirely based on fear. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest 'god' is a real being, so why waste your precious time on this planet worrying about being a good Christian when there is no basis to your belief other than a book being passed down through generations.
We are so insignificant in this universe we might as well not exist! Humans have always been naive about our importance, if there is a divine 'creator' it will have nothing to do with humanity.
Alastair1874 8 months ago
I like your way of speaking and definitely have a good understanding of which you speak. However, it is my humble opinion you are asking yourself the wrong question. What if you were born into (and therefore believe in) the wrong god? I suspect you don't lose any sleep over this. And yet, your religion, like all religions, is a minority. Statistically it is more likely than not that you have chosen the wrong one. This is why I don't lose any sleep over Allah, Mahavira, Jesus, Baal or Sai Baba.
ryanwyshynski 8 months ago
Interesting reply, that also misses the point and is based on a facile assumption that God only does good. Whenever Christians talk about "good", God "does it". Whenever evil, God passively "allows it". I will countenance the proposition that God exists and "does great things" like ending war, if you accept God also consciously and positively makes evil things happen, like starting wars, or the matters I discuss. Btw, don't bother with the circular "men start wars", because men also end them.
Heritagius 8 months ago 3
@Heritagius Did you get a chance to watch my video "The Answer To Evil" I answer these questions as there are many different world views that could come into play from free will to Good being forever in eternity so the things you stated are just a blink of an eye in the time scale of eternity. Check out the video. Also I don't prescribe to the thinking that you spoke of I just pointed out a dilemma you have if you blame God for evil you must adhere to a good standard and thus blame him for Good
GodIsReal101 8 months ago
Here's a serious question to consider. Riddle me this, Mr Logic, then maybe I will listen to your philopsopical claptrap about whether God exists.
1. Why did God choose (and I repeat CHOOSE) to devastate Haiti with an earthquake recently, killing 200 odd thousand?
2. Ditto Japan - 18,000 plus?
3. Ditto Boxing Day tsunami, 200 k plus dead?
Presumably those half million people didn't buy Pascal's Wager and got got. Why not ask God when you next pray? Let me know his answer. Ta.

Which flavor are you?
arthurjeremypearson 9 months ago 2
@arthurjeremypearson I believe you speak in the error of minority not majority of Christians. True Christians let the bible speak on those topics. It is clear what the bible says on each one. But there are few like in all walks of life that distort the truth in the bible for their own gain. So I would challenge you to quote from the bible not what some man says in Florida or Iowa. Read what the holy scriptures say.

MamaMario13 9 months ago
@MamaMario13 When children are young they are given rules by their parents. Most children obey those rules that are usually for their own good. The reason they obey those rules is out of two basic truths. One being respect love and trust that their parents have given them these rules for their own good. Two being because their parents have given them an example of a punishment for breaking those rules. So the second reason is based on a healthy fear of breaking the rules. God works the same way
GodIsReal101 9 months ago
@GodIsReal101 how can u equate eternal torture for minor transgressions with parent discipline? a good parent will stop the punishment eventually. Also is it not true that if u do not "love" god you cannot be saved? Sounds like thoughtcrime to me
MamaMario13 9 months ago
@GodIsReal101 also u have literally no evidence for the existance of God, if you have all the answers tell it to the muslims, jews, hindus etc. stop singling out atheists
MamaMario13 9 months ago 9

Ah yes, Pascal's Wager.

Shadowsilas 10 months ago
Then I guess you are saying the only ones who can live a fulfilling life are Christians?
What if you are wrong and OTHER gods exist?
In other words your wanting people to devote their life on the basis that there may be a chance of going to hell, fear factors which are used to control.
You example is invalid considering cigarettes are proven to cause cancer where as non-Christians are not proven to go to hell, it is completely different situations.
Shadowsilas 10 months ago

TheHogTieChamp 1 year ago
@TheHogTieChamp Great questions.. I will answer. I have considered Islam and have found it to be false based on three categories: No prophecies fullfilled. Not the same message that Jesus Spoke acutally takes steps backwards from Jesus and his turn the other cheek teachings or all of the world can be saved even the gentile. And last the denial of who what and where Jesus Christ was and is. So it clearly is a cult. So where have I not CONSIDERED? Last Faith is by belief and relationship first..
GodIsReal101 1 year ago
@GodIsReal101 All good points, and I agree with you. Neither you or I believe the Qur'an to be divinely inspired or inerrant.
But do you not see how you changed gears there? When considering Islam, you looked at their holy book and their claims and you applied a standard of evidence. In the end, your personal judgment is that Islam is false.
But that's not the question. The question is, "What if you're wrong?"
Snakes biting your face.. Head smashed with a hammer over and over... Serious stuff!
TheHogTieChamp 1 year ago
@TheHogTieChamp Good points as well. Let me clarify. If I am wrong and Islam is the right path to God. Then I would enter their Hell. Which makes me think I should consider Islam which I have and once investigated then the truth lead me to my faith in Jesus Christ. So the question "What if I am Wrong" lead me to a path of research and soul seeking. On the side of non belief there is no chance for this process to begin as non belief has stalled the process. One must consider then seek honestly.
GodIsReal101 1 year ago
@TheHog Islam, nor any other religion (btw, Jesus is not a religion) offers any kind of redemption or reconciliation with God.They are all work based. We cannot work our way into God's presence. No matter how much "good" we do,we are still wretched.I've been a follower of Jesus for a loooong time & I still mess up!Like, every day! It's impossible to be "good". Jesus said, "Not one is good, no not one." I mean, look at Noah- God spoke directly to him & he got off the ark & got drunk. We are WRETCHED!
jtika1978 1 year ago
@jtika1978 The point that Islam doesn't offer any kind of redemption or reconciliation with "God" does not make sense. Nor does it help to add that Islam is a work-based religion. This is because factors like that change between religions, so there is no use comparing them. In Islam, you 'can' make it in to heaven by performing works to please Allah, and in Christianity, you can only get into heaven by repentance of sin. So no, a Christian cannot make it in to heaven through works. cont-

Go. Start now.
TheHogTieChamp 1 year ago
Some Christians believe that God will judge me fairly based on my heart and my actions, not automatically torturing me for eternity simply because I didn't worship. Other Christians say there is more scriptural support for the position that salvation is available ONLY through Jesus Christ.
So even if Christ is Lord, then I still have some chance of Salvation through my good works. Maybe God sends atheists to hell... maybe not...
[continues...]
TheHogTieChamp 1 year ago
@TheHog you definitely don't have a chance on good works.Try using that in a court of law- "I know I robbed this person, Judge, but I helped an old lady carry her groceries the other day" Would the judge just let the criminal go without punishment?Or is he obligated to uphold justice? No matter how many good deeds you do, you are guilty of breaking God's laws. Good deeds do not make up for that. & no matter what, you will again break God's laws. This is why we NEED the Savior. He pays our fine.
jtika1978 1 year ago
@jtika1978 I am entertained by the comparison of God judgment with that of a judge in a criminal trial.
Okay... So you say that I wouldn't get out of trouble for robbing someone just because I had also helped a lady carry her groceries. Fair enough.
But what you're saying is that you could go to court and say, "Dear kind and loving Judge... I believe in you! I love you very much!" and you would get away scott-free.
Is that the kind of judge you want in criminal courts?
TheHogTieChamp 1 year ago
@TheHogTieChamp Nope not at all. I want a just and grace giving God. And that is what this judge is. You see this judge paid for the penality for you and me. An infinite being came down in humility and gave up his perfect life to die for the sins of the world past, present, and future. So by trusting in him and by stating you would like to utilize your free choice to not reject that gift but accept it. Well that is something me and you can't even grasp. But God offers it to you and me.. Amazing!
GodIsReal101 1 year ago
@TheHogTieChamp It's not a comparison, it's an analogy. And just believing is not what saves us. It's REPENTENCE which means constant fleeing from sin. Salvation comes with repentence, confession that Jesus is Lord and then a complete trust in Him. It has nothing to do with believing. Satan and the demons believe in God. Many people believe but are not saved. A majority really. Jesus said not everyone who cries, "Lord, Lord!" will enter into His Kingdom.
jtika1978 1 year ago
@jtika1978 An analogy is a comparison based on similarities. So yes, it is a comparison. So, to say that a person cannot get in to heaven by works is to speak from a Christian point of view, and to say a person cannot get in to heaven by asking God for forgiveness and repenting is from an Islamic point of view. Therefore, you cannot argue this. And if you truly believe the Bible, then if you sin at all after being "saved" then you will go to hell, one must repent and "sin no more," literally.
tylerdavisacoustics 11 months ago
@GodIsReal101 I know this is not a direct response, but hear me out. So long as you're living your life assuming that this is all you get, and that you should do your best to ensure that not only you but those around you are bettering themselves everyday, I see no problem with religious belief. My problem is that there are so many religions, so many faiths, deities, ideologies, theologies, that ultimately no matter which one I choose to believe in "just in case" I have a chance of being wrong.
Wangler7 1 year ago
@Wangler7 Great comment. You are correct that if you look at choosing the right God it can be a challenge. That is where faith and education and a true seeker comes in. I did this myself and would ask that all do the same. The main point of this video is that if you choose nothing than you have the lowest possible chance of getting eternity right so it is a wise choice to search is the first point. From there I believe God does not hide from the true seeker. Read the book of John in the bible.

I got nothing against christians but you seem to have a pretty good life. You got here by making choices yourself, Nobody made them for you.
DeadlyThrashViking 1 year ago
@DeadlyThrashViking It is a great question. Here is how I would answer. Christianity is unique that unlike every other religion you can't work your way into God's good grace. You can't work your way into heaven. You are saved only by the faith, belief, and life you live through Jesus Christ. It is by him dying on a cross for the sins of mankind that you are made right with God. It is the great gift. So to accept the gift is eternal life. To deny the free gift is to deny God and to be seperated.
GodIsReal101 1 year ago
@GodIsReal101 You're wrong in some things. Christianity is just a religion. Christianity and just believing in God will get you no where. You do need to work at being a follower of god. Its not about religion its about relationship with god. Doing Gods will. By having faith and no works behind it is like having no faith. You enter into the kingdom of heaven by doing gods will. Baptize the holy spirit and faith.

I have no reason to think any of them are true though. The one thing I am sure of is that I have a life and I intend to make the most of it.
Good luck, maybe your horse will win...

GodIsReal101 Thank you so much for the work you are doing for God. A lot of people will probably come against you and what you do. But the Bible says we will be persecuted for the cause of Christ. Keep it up, blessings!

i understand your idea of living and believing in god is ok even if he's not real. but you would also be iggnorant to the truth of man. you and many like you would slow the advancement of man through ignorance. and honestly i don't think "playing it safe" by choosing to believe in god just in case he's real is what religion is about.
meistermeist 1 year ago
Non-theists like myself are frustrated with this argument because it has been refuted over and over for hundreds of years. This is Pascal's Wager restated... poorly.
Problem #1 You assume that the Christian god is god or there is no god, forgetting the 10's of thousands of other gods that are worshiped that we both could be wrong about.
Problem #2 You assume that belief is a choice.

Well let's say god exists. What if he is not Christian god? Mind you, there are 100s (or may be thousands) of other religions with gods.

Habermas dose end up providing "highly probably evidence" for the historicity of the resurrection " with no plausible naturalistic evidence against it"
valu777 2 years ago

GodIsReal101 2 years ago
A quick search on Wikipedia shows there are 38,000 Christian denominations, so yes my numbers are false. According to many of these denominations (denomination seems to be the correct word and not sect) claim the other denominations are not "real christens" and many believe they are going to hell. (as an example; Baptist vs. Catholics vs. Mormons) So let me ask you this, what if the Mormons are right? What if the Muslims are right? I guess I'll see you in hell according to your belief.
shanesmith20m 2 years ago
I once again have to correct you. What you did was look up denominations which is a group of Christianity not a seperate belief. Some like to sing loud some old hyms just because there church offers that does not make the message from the bible they both preach out of different. If it is the bible they are teaching then they are Christians Catholics are Christians as the root word being Christ. We are all believers of the one true God. Once again what are your numbers for non belief? Lower right
GodIsReal101 2 years ago

Your life isnt your own.
aristopus 2 years ago
I am sure all jokes aside you understood my point on the smoking analogy. The question is what do I give up as a Christian that you don't have to as a non believer? I am not speaking philosophical so I am actually looking for something tangible.
GodIsReal101 2 years ago
GodisReal, Im only commenting on your video because you seem to have a head on your shoulders (unlike many Christians). I dig your rational approach.
You are merely restating Pascals Wager here. Be certain that non-believers like myself have already considered this supposition and have rejected Gods way out of hand.
Even if some cleric dreamed up the most terrifying, cruel, sadistic hell conceivable, it still isnt worth giving up this life.
aristopus 2 years ago
I appreciate your approach as well my friend. I have one question in regards to your last sentence. What would you give up in this life? Also are you saying if there was a hell I guess I still wouldn't change? That does not seem rational. I make that point in my video we see it everyday. People who have smoked for years and said "I won't get cancer I don't care if I get cancer I will be 50 or 60 then anyways". They do care when they are 50 or 60 and get cancer. What if it is like that for you?
GodIsReal101 2 years ago

I love life.
saxmanchiro 2 years ago
Atheism being right is a oxymoron. Atheism is the lack of God. By your own words you admit it is a belief which is a faith which is not empirical. So your first sentence is confusing. Some would say that for a short time living in Sin can seem fun. The difference is that you are rejecting true love by rejecting the free choice to pick God by rejecting him you have rejected love . You may love your sin for 75 years but WHAT IF YOUR WRONG FOR ALL ETERNITY? THAT IS THE QUESTION? THINK ABOUT IT
GodIsReal101 2 years ago
@GodisReal101: Would this argument you make convince you to believe, if you didn't already believe in God? Is the reason you believe based on this wager?
If not, why would anyone else be convinced by it?
If I don't believe in God, do you think it's possible for me to pretend to believe convincingly enough so that I will be let into heaven?
Griexxt 2 years ago
Many people have stated they first began their search for a God because they were not sure they were right. They felt they had many things to loose if they were wrong about their non belief. Look at the author A.N, Wilson he was a popular atheist even quoted in a few Dawkins books late last year he became a Christian he said he saw his mother die as a believer and his father die as an atheist and what he saw changed his life. This was a man who wrote books denouncing Jesus Christ.
GodIsReal101 2 years ago
Personal experience is personal experience. We can't base what we believe on how others have perceived events in their lives.
My main objection to your video is that you don't believe what you believe based on this wager you put forth. You have other reasons.
The second objection is that it's a bad argument. The two points that destroy it are, a) there are literally thousands of religions that could be right and make us both be wrong, b) I can't pretend to believe so that I fulfill the wager.
Griexxt 2 years ago
Smoking causes cancer. We know this. Your or anyone else's god being real. We don't know this. Bad analogy.
So what your proposition boils down to is that you have turned your religion in to a roulette game. I'm sure your god is well pleased with your sincerity.

If I am wrong? Oh well :)
Alterna123 2 years ago
Unfortunately this is, and will always be a stupid question. The question you should have asked yourself is, "What if I'm wrong, about the uncountable thousands of other religions that exist" as Richard Dawkins says, everyone is an atheist to most religions, atheists just take it one further.
Shikoh1 2 years ago
Which is a silly answer as it would make the atheist less likely to be right as a statistic. Thanks for thinking on your own.
GodIsReal101 2 years ago
Yes, an atheist is less likely to be right.. must be divine intervention that allowed you to figure that one out.
I believe in no religion, you believe in one religion out of the countless religions that have existed throughout the years. In reality your chances of being right are just about as thin as mine.
Shikoh1 2 years ago
Now that is just statistically false.. If it is a dead religion than it must have been false which means there are only about 100 or so to choose from. So you choose 0 out of 100 I choose 1 out of 100. Get your calculator out and let me know who is more logical...
GodIsReal101 2 years ago
@GodIsReal101 Hi, I don't understand how the fact that a religion being dead makes it false.
theonewayroad01 2 years ago

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?
jamierwvu 2 years ago
GodIsReal101 2 years ago
Here is the end all to any point that you try to validate without even the slightest bit of evidence in the empirical sense or logical sense. You have no foundation on which to build any argument that contains support, meaning that a valid point must have sources of accreditation. Before you try the rebuttal of the Bible being the source, the po
