PEANUT BUTTER is great for rat/mouse traps because they can not take the food off and have to keep messing with the trigger to eat and ends up getting them.

You should also tie or secure the traps to something so they don't run away with the traps and hide somewhere and stink as they decay.

I don't know about indoors though.

Live traps are also a good solution. If you're a PETA tree hugger you can release them miles away, or with mice just flush them down the toilet. Very sanitary.

i've had problems with rats too they seem to like to chew the stems of the leaves and around the stalk lost a few plants due to them chewing completely around the stalks

I've found that mice aren't heavy enough to set off those traps. Even with food meticulously glued to the trigger. I've had good luck with a live trap where the mice can just walk in but can't get out. Than you have to drive the mice - apparently 10 miles away. Also the poison seeds - they eat them a than go die some where.
