  • is this flute considered to be a professional or intermediate model?

  • @maestrowinds It is a professional model.

  • is this flute considered professional level?

  • Holy crap. I wish I could play like you.

  • look like schmidt pads

  • Miles is awesome!!!!! Im gettin a new flute from him which brand do u suggest? I'm a almost highschool student but I'm very serious about my playing and plan to do great things with it?? I also want open hole and a b foot joint a t the least!

  • I just bought this flute from Miles Davis -- it is awesome! If anybody is looking for a flute or needs work on their flute, I can't recomend Miles Davis more; he does fantastic work! I love the gold pads, too.

  • Missy: congratulations and enjoy the flute!

  • Thank you, Nina! I am enjoying it very much -- such a joy to play! Thank you for making the video, which is what made me try the flute out. You are an inspiration, and I hope one day to be able to play as well as you do.

  • @MissyHPhoenix I have not heard of gold pads, my Haynes has Straubinger pads which cost me $150 more than regular pads after my flute was completely overhauled by the Kerr Co. How much are they with installation, approximately?

  • @mikenelli57 I actually don't know how much they cost -- he had already added them to the flute when I bought it. Ask Miles Davis at Miles Ahead Music. Missy

  • ahh gold pads.

apparently very durable, and don't ever get sticky.. and supposed to give you a more "dark" sound.

Tadeu Coelho from NCArts has them i think.

or was it kathy jones... might have been jeff khaner..

always wanted to get them on my flute.

been awhile since I've seen anyone with them.

  • It sounds beautiful, but with gold pads, it seems like it would be a bitch to be repaired if, knock on wood, something were to go wrong with them.

  • oh god tell me about it getting normal flute pads replaced are enough money...gold pads would kill me D:l

  • hi there!

im hoping to play the flute soonish, just starting to research more about it, and it looks fantastic to play!

obviously you are an extremely 'high-up' professional!

however, ive noticed some things with professionals. they seem to create 'horrid' sounds.. like for example, 0:33 in this video.

was that a mistake or was it meant to be that sound?

i say this with all respect however!

and also, are there different types of flutes? and what benefites does each type have?

    thankyou!!

  • how was that a horrible sound? Its just the audio quality problem... if we were there that would sound amazing.

  • miles is dead!

  • vitamincory: well obviously it is not the same Miles Davis. This Miles Davis owns a music shop in Louisville, KY and is alive and well.

  • Make it known to the readers that its not the deceased jazz trumpet player Miles Davis you're talking about. For a minute I thought you were nuts. but Its good you kinda came in and cleaned it up a bit.

  • dinadanna: I never asked Miles (from Louisville) how he got his name but I always just assumed that his last name was Davis and his parents must have been jazz fans and decided to name him Miles! You should ask him.

  • great playing please tell me what type of pattern you are playing round 00:24 seconds into the video thanks

  • wow, what a clear and beautiful sound. :-)

  • is that an alto flute?

  • No.

  • haha..no. longer cause its a b foot, but thats it.

  • on other video i saw nina with something called foster extension, maybe is that

  • Tried both straubinger pad and js gold pads, to be honest, I think it is not far from a gimmick, but then again, my flute has always been in care by an expert based out of Boston.

  • hey nina that pads are J. S gold pads manufacturer??

  • braiz: you'll have to ask Miles for the details, I'm not sure...

  • um what are gold pads? Are they metal pads made out of gold?

  • do the gold pads make the flute heavier?

  • not noticeably.

  • it's just a regular pad with gold powder last time I checked, infused...to the surface of the pad.

  • wow. beautiful. wish i could buy it :D

  • Awesome. Love the energy
