Could someone tell me how old this song is? I have been over all of these sites, listen to Steve Perry every day and this is the first time I have ever heard this. I can feel his pain in this and almost feel like crying.
Yes, this song is a tribute to Journey and what they had. I just heard Steve on an interview a week ago clarifying this point because the interviewer misinterpreted the song and Steve almost seemed a little miffed that the guy didnt get it. He said that if you listen to the lyrics where he says "We were brothers till the end" or something of that sort, not sure if I got the lyrics right, but anyway..that he was talking about his "brothers" in Journey. I love this song.
I love Steve Perry .He will always be a part of my life. My uncle used to go to thier concerts and,he collected vests from every concert. He loved Steve Perry too. In some of the hardest times of my life I would think of he and I listening to Journey.I miss those days.
Thank you Steve, for all the beautiful words and music that have held so many of our lonely broken hearts....together. There have been times..I don't know what I'd have done if I hadn't had your "shoulder" to lean on...you've always inspired me to keep going,be good to myself <3<3<3
"Anyway" is one of the most soul-baring, heartrending songs I've ever heard. Steve always sings brilliantly and straight from the heart but there's something especially touching about this song and the way he sings it... goosebumps, hot flashes... an incredibly meltworthy performance if you know what I mean. And I love the photos!
@CatAnna It's ("one of the most soul-baring, heart[-]rending songs ..." — i.e., YOUR words) I've ever heard, too, Anna.
The guitar wails in the last minute of the song, the "outro" you might say, are to me nothing short of a musical experience which actually makes me feel as though I'm experiencing what Steve's saying PHYSICALLY. Steve's emotions are utterly captured and captioned in that little guitar phrasing.
he wouldn't even hafta say it; you can just FEEL it, per that guitar hook.
I love tihs song, but it does make me feel sad every time I hear it! I can HEAR struggle, regret, wonderful memories of the magic that once was, all inside him.....and that killer high note ......ooooh, SWEET!! Love you, babe.
I love this man, without even knowing him. He is a diamond in the rough for sure. If I had the opportunity, I would love to meet him. What a life he has lead! Something the rest of us can only dream of. Somehow he has managed to keep his life on track- good for him!!
Steve Perry is so amazing. His voice brings me to tears. I also never get tired of hearing him. I will be wishin, hopin and prayin for this reunion. Hey, if David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen can do it.....KEEP HOPE ALIVE!
"We believed in music, brothers to the end.....still I remember." Let's hope the other guys feel the same way. I've kept an eye on the current Journey. Arnel is doing great, however, looking at the show schedule they book, they are probably going to burn him out like they did Steve Augeri. Those singers have sung their heart out, but no one can sustain that kind of schedule and maintain their voice for long.
One thing to hope for and hang on to, Steve has never closed that door of reuniting with Journey. It is apparent he wants to sing again, it is his heart and soul. Many feel that love between the brothers is still there, covered over by a lot of hurt, and perhaps some pride. Keep praying they all will overcome that, recapture the joy, and create magic again. It would be a gift to the world.
if only Steve Perry and Journey would put their Pride aside and give the world one more Album together, it would mean the world to all the fans from around the world that have loved them and their music and followed them throughout the years. Come on guys......just one more Album, for old times sake. Dont continue to get older and have huge regrets someday for not reuniting ounce more. Love you Steve and Love you Journey.

Had not heard this one before. What a beautiful song by an extraordinary singer. No one will ever come close to filling Steve's shoes as the lead singer for Journey. Thank you for posting this!
Pamela , I love this song so much , you seem to like 99% of the songs i like. This song was steves song to other journey members after they split up. xxxx very nice . next song steve perry if only for the moment girl
The test of great songs is that no matter how often you listen to them, there is always something new to be gleaned, and they speak to you no matter what place you are in that day. This is one of them for me!
You're right. This song was on 1994 For the Love of Strange Medicine. It sounds like an apology of not being able to continue after the Raised on Raido tour. Trial by Fire came out in 1996, that's when he got hurt in Hawaii.
Fabulous video! Has to be gut wrenching for a man to have his entire life documented-having to face aging-then having someone 20 years your junior appear like a younger clone of your voice. Hope he realizes that his depth, experience, insight, and life experience makes his music even that more meaningful. Hope he really is recording again! Heck, even a single video or podcast would be wonderful!
Can you imagin being the person that cut that wonderful hair when it was so long? Man I would have paid him just to let me run my fingers through in just once!
Idyintn: Thanks so much for posting this video!! You have a lot of pictures here of Stephen I've never seen before -- FABULOUS!! This is also one of my favorite songs. :-) Marlene

Steve Perry has always worn his heart on his sleve lyrically. I feel his approach to songwriting began with a message he wanted to express.
