this trailer is depressing. Since it proves how disorganized they must be about what direction the game is going in. "What is decreed must be" looks nothing like "Part 1: shadows".

@LiefWolfsbane No, King Graham never used a sword. You did have the option in KQ1 of throwing a dagger at the dragon guarding the mirror, but that netted you less points than the other solution. The only other time a sword was used was KQ6 by Prince Alexander, and that was just him using a friggin' huge two-handed ornamental greatsword which he could barely even lift.

Well, excepting KQ7, of course. But that wasn't the royal family, so it barely counts.

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for something like this. I was just waiting around today thinking what happeend to king's quest, and it turns out they are giving the first episodes for free on july 11. The king's quest series has really changed my life. It's what pushed me in the direction of liking games like chess, starcraft, and go.

9 because 8 had Connor he wasn't even a KQ regular. If it is released, I'd pay for it. I think too much talent goes down the "legality" crapshoot and people who hide behind the big lawers and whitewig.

Saw the following on TSL site:

"The license also stipulated that Vivendi must approve the game (for quality assurance purposes) before it can be publicly released. While were not sure how extensive this final pass will be, nonetheless it remains the final roadblock the game must go through before it can be played publicly."

Wouldn't it be horrible to spend years on something, only to have Vivendi (Activision?) evaluate the product & say it's not good enough? Are you guys afraid of that?

I agere with you guys, the new video games are really rather mundane and plain bad. too much hacking, not enough thinking and story line....Sierra made a huge mistake by getting rid of what worked. (QG series and KG series). I don't even bother checking their website anymore.

Sierra is potentially losing a lot of money by not making another old-school style quest/adventure game.

The execs behind transformers thought their best bet for years was to dump the entire old 80's line and market all new crap. Then the new transformers movie came out and showed everyone there's HUGE-ass demand for that older stuff.

Same with the king's quest/space quest etc type games. Massive, massive demand from people who grew up with it and new people who'd also like it.

I had never heard of King's Quest before. I watched a few video's...and now King's Quest has a place in my memory. As soon as this game will be complete and full, I will definetly play it.

I played the demo, but my PC cant handle its full capacities. But it's truly a great game.

I was a bit disappointed to hear that Graham was going to be the main character. Don't get me wrong, I like him just as much as the others but I was hoping that the entire Royal Family would have equal parts. Still, it looks to be very good.

I understand why you like King's Quest 8. Because it's a violent game in the format of basically every other popular game today. And for the earlier King's Quest games, you actually have to THINK to solve puzzles. They actually developed interesting plots. Even though the games have pixelated graphics, I much prefer them to newer games with great graphics, yet bad plots.

King's Quest 7 was nice. Sure it was a bit more cartoonish and easier than the previous ones (and Rosella was seriously out of character compared to how she behaved in KQ4), but it was funny, had some nice puzzles, looked great, and didn't try to kill you every 20 seconds. Plus it was high time Valanice got featured in a game since every other member of Graham's family had been.

I enjoyed playing KQ7 just as much as all the previous ones. I never played KQ8 so I've got no idea about that.

the 3d animation doesn't seem as great like the old kings quest games, but at least this game is like a tribute to them. it was sad that there weren't any more kings quest games after the 8th game was a disappointment to most people. kings quest 7 was my favorite and so was kings quest 6

Until you cant make a game in 3d that is photorealistic (read: cant tell from life), you should stick to 2d. Srsly, sprites look like painting, it's beautiful. 3d on the other hand looks like bricks.

to Manbearorc, this game is FANMADE. They already go through a lot just to get this made (including some lawsuit stuffs with Vivendi/Sierra). This'll probably be freeware, the game's entirely made simply out of great love by the series' loyal fans, I think it's really callous what you're saying there about the graphics. I think they've done terrific job. For a game that's made by volunteers without proper funding, how on earth would you expect it to look like Crysis or Oblivion?? Shame on you!

I love all the KQ games SO much; I just got the King's Quest Collection so that I can play all of them on my current PC...Can't wait for this to finally be released, since lord knows I need more closure than what Mask of Eternity had to offer. You can buy it at Target, but it only has I-VII...no Mask of Eternity. But all the ones included work perfectly for me!
