  • Valjean is played here by Alfie Boe who also played the role in the 25th anniversary concert - Jatvert is played by the marvellous Hadley Fraser who also played Grantaire in the same anniversary concert - saw them both in the West End (on several occasions) and they were truly wonderful.

  • This Valjean was Grantaire from the 25th anniversary concert, am I right? He's awesome.

  • Samantha Barks is out of this world! She has a phenomenal voice and is an amazing Eponine!

  • is it Lisa-anne wood as Cosette

  • @Mattyma1998 Yes it is!!

  • YAY! Samantha Barks is gonna play Eponine in the Les Mis movie!!

    I'm so happy!

  • Great video but I cracked up when I saw the microphones in Alfie's hairline. Excellent.

  • I saw her live at the Queen's Theatre! She's great, obviously.

  • Who is playing Marius?? xx

  • Music for the soul. Amazing!

  • 08:05 oh wow.

  • who is Cosette?

  • 7:08 Sam sitting cross-legged :) love her!

  • download link?!

  • Im sorry but the 25th anniversairy cast was way better, this is good but you can't beat Ramin Karimloo, Norm Lewis. Alfie and Samantha are amazing as always :)

  • @justlikeeponine I agree, but no doubt Ramin will make a great valjean and I'm glad hadley has a bigger part <3 I'm going to see it in feb, so will tell you what they're like. Also, this cast doesn't have the stupid Nick Jonas dragging them down! xx

  • The music in Les Miz is phenomenal.

  • Hadley Fraser is incredible okay? :O

  • Funny how in one day more samantha's voice is more powerful than both cosette's and marius'.... the o2 was definitely better but this was still pretty good.

  • Samantha is amazing:) <3

  • 4:36 Weird foot shuffle from Alfie Boe...

  • Enjolras sounds so weak here. :( Maybe it was an off performance or something because I've heard a recording of a recent-ish performance of this cast and Craig Mather's voice was MUCH more powerful and he sounded really good. Enjolras was played by the understudy (who I wasn't that fond of) so I don't know if it's the case with him. Is he any better on stage? If not I think it was a poor casting as Enjolras is supposed to have a really powerful voice.

  • Haha I like the goofy little march

  • The 25th is better, but the Javere and cosette and Marius weren't to bad. But I love alphie sooooo much! He's amazin! So in Samantha, but both she and Alphi look different then in the 25th. Alphie's eyes look way bigger ^.^

  • I like the 25th anniversary concert better but this 1 is really good!!!!

  • Alfie Boe is amazing nobodys voice can ever top his; I am one of his biggest fans and cant wait till his tour :) <3

  • Saw les mis on mon 21st nov the second time this year saw norm lewis in may.. and Hadley this time round both are great javerts

  • That awkward moment when Javert is better looking then all of the students put together

  • HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY!

HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY!

HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY!

HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY! HADLEY!

  • The awkward moment when Javert is gorgeous.

  • RAMIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can I just say, Craig went to my school and I know for a fact that he had AT MOST a few hours to practice this before he went on. This was the first time he performed it, and he had never done the march. If you were given a few hours to do something OF COURSE it wouldn't be your best! Everyone went to see him in September, and apparently he was fantastic. Don't be so quick to judge unless you're willing to go and do a better job yourself.

  • @LolaGabriella I saw Craig perform in October, and he was simply breathtaking! I didn't even see a fault with his performance here! I love his performance as Marius :)

  • Can I have Alfie's lungs?

  • Just imagine Ramin as Enjolras here! Would be amazing

  • @Evviex he's going to be in queens theatre Ramin Karimloo will star as Jean Valjean from 29 November 2011 - 3 March 2012.

Ramin Karimloo will not perform on Monday or Thursday evenings during his run.

He will also not be performing during the following dates: Saturday 17 - Saturday 24 December 2011 inclusive.

  • @izzy7393 Yes I know :) Im going to UK, London in february to see him as JVJ :) Got tickets to 2 performances of les mis and 1 for phantom ;)

  • @Evviex lucky have fun it's amazing

  • It's strange to see Hadley performing the role with so little makeup. In the performance he's greyed and a bit haggered looking at the Barricades, what with Javert being 52 at that point! He's so young to be playing that role so excellently!

  • who is the cosette here? she is stunningly beauty and young

  • @surita88 the cosette here is lisa-anne wood. she is the cosette in London at the minuet she is amazing i love her

  • crying at this, samantha barkes and alfie boe are litterally my heroes, their voices are amazing and bring tears to my eyes! les miserables is amazing! my favourite west end show, my dream to be a part of it in years to come<3333

  • I have seen this cast on the stage, Craig Mather, who plays Marius, is amazing! So is alfie, Hadley, how he manages to play sch a role at such a young age amazingly baffles me, love the whole cast!

  • Comment removed

  • heeheehee hadley's sideburns

  • Aflie Boe's "Bring Him Home" tears me to pieces. And Hadley Fraser as Javert? How does a man so young manage to handle such a mature role with so much gravitas? Just about everyone in this cast is absolutely mint.

  • I don't get why you guys are hating on the guy playing Marius. I think he has this youthful, naive look which is quite adorable, and his tone is rather splendid.

  • its funny how short hadley fraser is in comparrison to most javerts. like philip quast is like 6'4 and roger allam and terrance mann are over 6' anyway. Saw him on stage though and he was incredible

  • @EloiseBloomfield97 Thats what I thought! :D He looks just like Roger!

  • That was amazing. I, too, liked it better than 02. I'm liking Samantha the more I hear her... and Alfie is simply amazing,

  • Marius is horrible. -,- who's that?!

  • I've often wondered how these guys do eight shows per week and manage to make it sound fresh.

  • Wow. I thought Alfie Boe knocked it out of the park in the 25th anniversary concert. How do you describe something that tops even that? That's incredible. And to go straight into One Day More with hardly a breath?! Jeez, is there no limit to what he can do?

  • @rachiekayester i totally agree!! i mean seriously his voice is so awesome that I CRIED whenever he sang this song during that concert (which i have watched 5 times in this past week o.o) HIS VOICE GIVES ME THE SHIVERSSS O.O the good kind, lol XD Alfie Boe FTW!

  • @rachiekayester My god, that is impressing..to go right into one day more

  • @rachiekayester I saw this production a few weeks ago, the most amazing show I've seen in my life and I've been around 67 years and love musical theatre. Alfie Boe and the rest of the cast were sublime.

  • @rachiekayester in terms of songs alfie boe has done going into one day more with hardly a breath is simple, seriously the start of that song is simple for anyone i would say he could have held it all the way in without a breath

  • As much as I love One Day More, I hate the 'dramatic pauses.' I like the 10th anniversary version the most. Also Samantha's voice is phenomenal!

  • also a huuuuuuuge respect for the orchestra!

  • Samantha is gotta better here than O2

  • AMAZING. Samantha's voice is incredible

  • i almost cried at Bring Him Home when i saw it last friday night, with Alfie...

so emotional... i never even almost cry!!!

im such a heartless monster, so any guy that makes me cry is amazing...

    ily Alfie!!!

  • All those criticizing: Please tell me your west end credits...

    Teachers slating - Unprofessional.

    Cast - Amazing.

  • @laughingwithtom Amen to that. You need to have this post on any video of a musical performance.

  • WOW. all i can say - watching this inspired our choir (BYMT senior choir) to sing One Day More at our concert next week!! Can't wait for 3rd September, when we're seeing the new cast :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  • Hadley is amazing i love his voice so much!

  • OH MY GOODNESS. Alfie is even better here than he was at the O2. I didn't think that was possible. Excuse me while I go explode with happiness.

  • Cannot wait to see Les Mis in summer! Alfie + Hadley + too awesome for words!

  • Who's all in there? Particularly playing Marius and Enjolras, but everyone else, too. I recognize Alfie, Samantha and Hadley....

  • @AnnieIsOkayMJ Craig Mather as Marius, Liam Tamne as Enjolras, Lisa Anne Wood as Cosette, Adam Linstead (?) as Thenardier, Katy Secombe as Mme Thenardier. I think that's right.

  • The guy who did Marius ddnt really impress me.... Sam was incredible as usual

  • Words really cant describe how FANTASTIC THIS IS!!!!!!! LOVE LES MIS xD <3

    AMAZING!!!!

  • GOING TO SEE THIS IN TWENTY MINUTES. From Norway to London to Les Mis on Thursday. <3 <3 <3

  • Marius is played by a relatively new graduate called Craig Mather. He graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2010.

  • samantha just grows in the role soo much video doesnt do her justice to how amazing she is in the threate of the 6 times ive seen les mis shes the best in the role by far, soo wished she was staying on along with gareth gates and the current javert for alife's run that wuld be such an amazing cast

  • OMG! Who is that playing Marius?!? He's cute!

  • I Get Goosebumps Everytime :')

  • CRYING TEARS OF JOY HERE THIS IS SO PERFECT. Sam is getting better and better!

I can't believe her last performance is in 13 days. MUST BOOK PLAIN TICKETS, LES MIS TICKETS FOR AT LEAST THREE PERFORMANCES, PLAIN TICKETS HOME.

  • 1 person likes Justin Bieber

  • I think it was grand performance from the cast and thought everyone's voices suited their parts

  • Anyone else think that Joe McElderry would make a great Marius?

  • @MagsiP I agree, I think Joe would really suit the part

  • @MagsiP hell no

  • Whoot! Go Craig! :D <3

  • I take back everything I said about Nick Jonas.. this guy was worse.

  • @SexinessIsMine You can't really think that can you? Nick Jonas is awful and has no technique and the wrong sort of voice, whereas this guy has both of those things, but his voice it subtle as a Marius should be xx

  • @luvninjasandjobros At least the voice of this marius is better than Nick Jonas'... but it seems inspired by that sound... People, there are a lot of good singers in the age category of Marius, why is someone like Graig Mather in the role? No offense, but his voice sounds not that much better than most of my students... My students are between 14 and 18 years old...

  • Marius is played by Craig Mather - he is fantastic!

  • I know cosette is lisa-ann wood because she's straight out of guildford, don't know the guy playing marius but he is terrrrrible

  • thumbs up if samantha barks sent you here!!

  • can someone tell me who played cosette and who played marius please? thanks

  • amazing job by entire cast

  • This was brilliant. However, why do they keep casting extremely weak Mariuses? They all seem to sound pathetic in their singing; not a patch on Michael Ball.

  • @lucyaliceee May have to do with Valjean lugging Marius' ass through the sewers. lol Don't want your lead tenor to pop a disc in his back. Singers small/light enough to be carried generally have lighter voices, too. Nick Jonas sounds pretty good now, doesn't he?

  • @lucyaliceee I agree, I saw it with some boy that sounded like a goat and then Nick Jonas, both God awful!

  • @lucyaliceee It's unfair to compare any Marius to Michael Ball -- he set the bar extremely high with his performance. Much better to compare the various actors who have played Marius to each other. Mr Mather sounded fine, considering they had only started rehearsals a short while before this appearance. Word is now that he is very good.

  • And I love you Eponine!

  • Bloody hell Alfie! His voice is just perfection!

  • Oh, now, I get it. Wondered why Alfie did Javert's line, "Tomorrow is the judgment day." Hadley Fraiser's mike went out, and Alfie covered.

  • @hecate235 Jean Valjean is supposed to sing that line... Javert is meant to sing along with 'tomorrow is the judgment day' It's in the original full score.

  • @TLKthing3 Looked at other earlier clips, can't tell for certain. Since Javert is all about judgment, makes sense to be his line. Jean and Cosette are fleeing France next day -- and if not for his side trip to the barricades they'd have made it, since Javert was busy with Enjorlas. Why would Valjean sing that line too?

  • @hecate235 I don't know, I didn't write the lyrics... But the conductor's score says it's supposed to be sung by both Valjean and Javert.

  • great performance!!!!! =) but has anyone else noticed the mic under Sam's hat and on Alfie's head..??? haha classy lol

  • thanks soooo much for uploading this! Les Mis is my absolute favourite musical and the hugely talented cast certainly didn't disappoint with this performance. phenomonal!

  • Thanks for uploading this. It's an amazing performance

  • No musical can match Les Mis. It wins every time and is a complete one off. There are two types of musical theatre - Les Mis and all the others.

  • @jazzdrum100 well martin guerre sounds and looks exactly the same

  • Does not matter how many times i hear this incredible music i still adore it more and more. Thanks heaps for posting this version. Unfortunately we wont see it on Australian TV. Am anxiously awaiting a revival show here scheduled for 2012!!

  • Alfie is amazing, truly remarkable.

But I think John Owen-Jones can match his vocals, and can also act the heck out of a song. Alfie isn't half the actor JOJ is!

    Just my opinion!

  • @WadeAblitt I agree. Alfie is great, but JOJ is amazing as Valjean.

  • excited to see alfie in the west end in november :D

  • Hadley Fraser!!!!!

  • @AzulaBlack I know - cool or what! He's going to be fantastic.

  • Fantastic thank u for sharing :)

  • Alfie is just miles above everyone else lol

  • Alfie are the best.

Samantha his voice much better, time will make one of the best.

  • Alfie eres el mejor.

Samantha su voz mucho mejor, el tiempo la hara ser una de las mejores.

  • OUTSTANDING

  • Brilliant!! As always.

  • no Ramin Karimloo ;(

  • sorry, but i think alfie boe is overrated

John owen jones is a much better valjean, and i know this is the CLASSIC brits, but it seems to come a lot less operratically to JOJ, other than that- AMAZING

  • @MrMeerkat247 overrated ? god... pls just shut up you have no idea of singing as it seems...

  • @musicfool114 um... sorry but i saw JOJ live, and in my opinion he was a lot better with a lot of the songs. i think alfie boe is great, just not as good as JOJ

  • @MrMeerkat247 did you see alfie live?! dont think so... and the singing technique of alfie is as well much better than JOJs.. ofc everyone has his favourites but stop saying he is overrated...thats total bullshit honestly... in my opinion alfie is better in every possible way...technique,timbre,emotion..

  • @musicfool114 fine, i respect your opinion and i saw alfie in the O2 concert at the cinema (lol) and your right, eeryone has favourites, JOJ is mine

  • @MrMeerkat247 Overrated, how? He only had 11 performances in the West End before the O2 concert. Not a lot of time in the role and still blew the audience away. Give him a month onstage, and then we can discuss various Valjeans.

  • is this the new cast except for samatha barks?

  • @SamPH7587 no alfie boe was jean valjean and I think Javert is hadely fraiser who was in the O2 performance as the drunken character cant remember his name LOL

  • @Troyellaislove Grantaire! And you're right, it is him! :D

  • @reboundpants Yay I got it right hahaha :D Thank you xx

  • @Troyellaislove Grantaire

  • @diskodavedm Thank you :)

  • @Troyellaislove yeah i know they where in the O2 performance and they were really good, but is this cast the new cast that will be playing at the Queen's Theatre apart from Samantha Barks?

  • @SamPH7587 OHHHHHHHHHHHHH now I get your question sorry LOL im actaully not sure hehe x

  • AMAZING!!! The whole cast are just incredible! Makes me cry :P x

  • This leaves me speechless! I would sell everything I own to go see the show. Alfie has surpassed his own performance at the O2. Bravo!!

  • @wendy10248 I'm afraid he read all the youtube comments that said Colm was a more passionate version...but, maybe it's just all the rehearsing (and all the performing) he's doing: Colm had DECADES to perfect JVJ!

  • Yep. Hadley's just too pretty to be Javert. Sounds fantastic, though!

  • I love it! Thank you!!!!!

  • I was very much hoping someone would have posted this as I missed it! Thank you for posting all of it!

  • "One more Day" of pure perfection!!!!!!! 43 Days until I see Les Mis again!!!!!!!!! Alfie you are truely amazing!

  • I am so excited now. I am seeing the new cast in October. They must be just starting rehearsals, so they're bound to really get somewhere great! Alfie Boe, so far, shines much more in One Day More. Hadley Fraser gave me chills... I think his casting is brills.

  • Holy cats, that was good. Samantha's voice has gotten stronger, better. And didn't think anything could surpass the "Bring Him Home" from the O2 concert, but Alfie did it. Geez.

  • Les Mis is an opera and the prayer is one of the prettiest arias I have ever heard. Alfie, you absolutely rocked it. I didn't think you could surpass the O2 concert, but, you did it tonight. I had so many shivers i needed a blanket! Congratulations

  • @13bonniek What????? A few things wrong.

    1) Les Miserables is not an opera.

    2) It's not called 'The Prayer', it's called 'Bring Him Home'.

    Good things now!

    1) Bring Him Home is very pretty.

    2) Alfie did rock it.

    3) I needed a blanket too.

    4) Congratulations indeed.

  • @Monkeyballmania Technically it is an opera as their are no spoken lines. My comment was aimed at the fact that Alfie Boe was calling it an opera in an interview at the Classic Brits. Secondly, Bring him Home is called The Prayer in the script. Concentrate on the good stuff that we both agree on.

  • @13bonniek I didn't know it was called the prayer... but I don't really care.

But les Mis is not an opera, go look it up. Having no spoken lines does not immediately mean it's an opera. Opera's have a lot of other elements, such as having four acts... the way it's performed is different.

    Just saying...

  • @13bonniek Sorry - Les Mis is a musical. Having a former opera tenor singing the lead doesn't turn it into an opera. I agree that Les Mis is moving - more moving than most operas - and The Prayer is beautiful. But please keep your genres straight.

  • @IheartZorro ... Actually alot of critics and professionals are divided as to what genre it goes into, as the entire 'script' is sung. Given this fact it is more likely that it should go into the genre of opera, hence Les Mis being dubbed a 'pop'-era.

  • @MrSnakeboy Having the entire script sung does not make something an opera. Mozart has unsung parts in his operas. I saw a distinction that made the most sense to me: is it about the Voice and the Music? So it doesn't matter if 6 ft tall middle-aged black women play young German women pretending to be boys? It's opera. Is it about the lyrics and the story, and the actors 'fit' the character? If so, a musical. That is not to detract from either one, just that they emphasize different things.

  • @MrSnakeboy Les Miserables is a sung-through musical but that doesn't make it an opera. The Green Day musical American Idiot is also sung-through but it's definitely not an opera.
