  • just improve your service calgary transit by being on time!!!!!

  • busses, 814,822,826,827,830,855,857, 2 speed,, 864,890,895, 3 speed.. these were purchased by rocky mountaineer in 1996, they were all retired in 2007 these were very reliable busses , some were sold for motorhome conversions , while 2 went to barkerville to be used as rolling tool storage, i am going to barkerville in the summer and will find out what the ct bus # are...

  • aww...i miss them busses....8'(

  • Wow! Over 12,000 views to this video! Great photos kevlo86 !

  • Wow, those old buses remind me of my youth..

  • They need to just keep manufactering these same buses. because they are waaaaaaaay better than any thing new out here today. Just build them as hybrids or natural gas buses. And then put wheel chair lifts in them. Now you have the perfect bus. ADA compliant, and will last yet another 50 years. Long after all these new technological pieces of shit buses have fallen by the wayside.

  • What's the song called?

  • I counted 41 buses in the video with the 2 tone blue and white livery. How many was there altogether in 2005, How many Gm fishbowls wher active in 2005. Wonderfull video. Your videos I love them.

  • In 2005 there were about 30 to 35 active if I recall correctly.

Currently there is one, but not sure if it is retired or not.

  • @kevlo86 they never retire there busses. unless there the old trollys they just keep on using it untill there is nothing left of it. you wouldnt see it because they are used mostly for expresses and school runs which are between the hours of 5am to 9am.

  • I never liked this song, but now everytime I hear this song, I thing about these buses!!!

  • When I think of busses, I think of these!

  • I always enjoyed these buses. i always sat behind the driver, or at least the first front facing seat. I kinda hated the whoom-whoom sound from the engine sitting at the back. lol! ;)

  • You see the two-tone go up to the Westside Rec Center sometimes. You usually see the bendy busses, regular busses and sometimes the old GMCs in the normal CT paint.

  • I miss them soo much. There will always be an attachment to the great buses that learned my craft behind the wheel of.

  • If you don't want me to tell you something then maybe you shouldn't say it in the first place. What the hell do you expect me to say to that, the answer is pretty obvious is it not, yea I went around Calgary looking for buses to photograph...otherwise there would be no video, get a brain yeesh.

  • 128 of those in the white/3 stripe livery, having been rebuilt. But as noted, some of these are in rough shape as the rebuilt program for the GM's began about 10 years ago, with the program stopping in early 2004. Refurb bodywork is still done on a regular basis to these buses.

  • @kevlo86 thats surprising we are still driving around the same frigen crap.

  • The arrival of new buses (as cited in below post) will likely mean the end of the road for more of the two tone blue GM's;however, some are in better shape then ones that have been rebuilt nearly 10 years ago. 138 GM Fishbowls were active as of late November 2007.

  • There are 10 of these buses left in the two tone blue livery as of November 2007. Needless to say, the majority of the buses photographed above are retired now. 935, 944, 967, 968, 1041, 1046, 1067, 1070, 1074 and 1152 were the only ones to remain at the end of November. All 10 of those have power steering. Last of non-power steering units retired earlier in 2007. In December 2007, more D40LF's (#8016 and higher) began arriving.

  • I've had more a preference for the 'New Looks' in any model (going back to the 1959 series of TDH-5301 et al.) whereby the back windows had four panels rather than three as on these models. More of a symmetry, I guess.

  • Great Video/Slide show. These are the best reliable coaches ever made. They look good in any color scheme. It would be nice to see them rebuilt and around for many more years.

  • Kevin, great slideshow! thanks for putting it together!

  • Calgary Transit still has about 150 of these buses. About 20 of them are in the old two tone blue livery. The others are in the white base-3 color stripe livery. There are no plans to mass retire the buses in 1-2 years, like Edmonton is doing.

  • All 150 of these buses should be rebuilt and kept in service 8 to 10 more years. with are some web sights to go on to see more pictures of these buses, see fleet rosters and learn more about calgary transit. Seems like a very nice city.

  • We still have a few in Edmonton... in fact, we still use these and the trolley-like ones!

  • How many does edmonton transit still have. the ones retired are they in storage or somewhere they can get them back. All of their fishbowl buses should be rebuilt also and kept for 8 to 10 more years. ttc should do the same. ttc I think 150 for sure will run 2 to 3 more years. Love to visit calgary.

  • The trolley like ones some wher rented by the ttc in the early 90s. TTc made a big huge mistake getting rid of their trolley buses, Making a even bigger mistake retiring gmc fishbowl buses for expensive not made as good low capacity orion lowfloor buses.

  • I have been on these buses in Calgary

  • I wish my city of Detroit, Michigan would've kept some of these New Look buses instead wasting their money on new bus models with non-Detroit powered bus engines...

  • very comfortable bus

  • very nice bus

  • I ride these busses almost everydoay in Calgary, and I haven't seen that paint scheme yet. Or maybe I just haven't noticed?

  • Yea its an older paint scheme, there are still about 20 buses, all GM's that are in this paint scheme.

  • They look great love to see videos of these buses more pictures of these buses along with calgary. Great city love to visit . Video is great, I love it.

  • it wouldn't be canada or USA without them.

  • That is so absolutely true. They are so North Ameirca and are home icons! I will miss them greatly!:(

  • I love these buses. I remember taking these buses as a kid in the USA in New York City, NY, Boston, and Springfield, Massachusetts. Seeing these bring back many fine memories. To tell you the truth, they seem more comfortable and roomier than the new ones we have here today. Great film and great song choice! Post more if you have any!:)

  • I want Fishbowls New Look back in Montreal!!!
