@monteriano I already have a 1000 concrete buried cistern in the middle of the front yard, and a submersible pump @ 1800 gallons/hr. Just 400 watts though, so my solar system can handle it.
and the other threats of the near future is NO ELECTRICITY !!! so i suggest enything like fridges and water heaters should be the last option !!!! just a thought makes sense to me
So why do I want to do this? I have a valve you say is crap and I put in a brass valve you claim is better. What have I gained? I still have a valve that lets me drain water from my hot water heater.
@masm60 There will be a time in your life (Very soon), when that 30-50 gallons in your hot water heater, will mean the difference between your survival.......... or death.
I got a few better ones. Get water in old milk jugs from ponds or streams to use for toilets. fill the show area up with them. then fill the tank as needed. chickens, apples trees, bb guns to hunt rabbits, and the solar mirrors. ALSO? gas generators only run on gas. the frig only runs on electricity, and ice cream isnt a VITAL food group. BE GOOD! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
great tip! although our house no longer has a water tank, just an on-demand water heater. we did get a water barrel and that thing will fill up with just a few decent rainstorms. better water in the rain barrel than in the creek across the street because it runs through several blocks of chemical laden lawns in town before it reaches us.
There are HAND PUMP WELLS still in use in some towns. People didnt destroy them. use a HIKERS WATER PURIFICATION PUMP to clean it. Look in farms and some OLD parks.
If you look closely at some of my other videos... You can see a picture of my hand pump well. (It also has an electric pump). We use that well for all of our veggie irrigation. Boiled, and filtered, It will provide unlimited drinking water.
Sulpher water, Yummy. At least you and I have a well to use. Haven't ever had mine tested though. Might have critters in it. We bought a pitcher filter, and a big stack of extra filters for it. Figure I can hand pump the well, filter, then boil it if I need to in an emergency. Should have enough filters for about 50,000 gal of drinking water.
Yup......I need to find how to get a way to pump water if the power is out. I did buy a solar powered generator(let me know if you want details) that will give about 5-6 hrs of electricity..I wonder if that would run my well pump to fill jugs and such....otherwise, I am going to contact the place that dug the well to start with..and see if they can run a parallel pipe attached to a hand pump... any thoughts?
My well is shallow. Water level is only about 15 feet down, and we already have both a 220 v pump, and a hand pump on it. I'm re-building an old windcharger from the 1930's and I'm hoping I can make enough battery juice to run a small sump pump that I have. My well's hand dug though, so it's 2 feet across.

Or just hook a hose to it and leave the hose on top. No leak.
