@ericnomics1 Hope? yeah right Ortiz didn't even have the heart to finish a fight with Maidana what do U think Berto's gonna do Exactly make him Quit Again U idiot Lol.
if a bum like Rivera Knocked down Berto, what do you think Ortiz will do ?? lmao Berto you over hyped faggot your 15 minutes of fame are on April 16th bitch.
Oh ONE more thing ... HIS DEFENSE SUCKS !! > He's half good > half athletic >but I think wouldnt last ontop with the prime fighters very long !! unless some major changes are made !!
ALL i gotta say is Berto ALWAYS has his hands down !! > he punches wide > most of the opponents he's fought // do not exchange combos / n power punches with him !! i'd like to see him tested more !!
everybody shut up and stop hatin on Berto the man is a world champion even Ali got knocked down before he became champ Cooper knocked Ali flat on his back and Ali even admitted he was hurt but Ali cut that mofo up and made him a bloody mess so so what if Berto got hit with a flash knockdown he still won the fight WAS HE ON HIS BACK? EXACTLY SO SHUT UP.
@TxREX1991 I don't estimate that it's overly hard to get up from a knockdown against a light puncher, and survive when you have an entire minute in between rounds to recover. Berto is B level at best. Kthanks.
@TxREX1991 legit knock down, wobbly legs, slow count, saved by the bell. Berto heads to his corner still very shook up (watch how he walks to his corner and it's easy to see he's trying VERY hard not to look hurt).
he came back for sure, but that doesn't take away from the fact that if there was no bell, he would've likely been KO'd by a weak puncher.
@TxREX1991 Yeah, but lets keep in mind, Rivera has 14 losses, 46% ko rate, and was destroyed 6 years ago by zab judah in 3 rounds. People thought Berto was overrated, i thought berto was overrated, and Ortiz proved it.
berto just got exposed to the nice little left hook on the inside and southpaw a level southpaw would beat berto hense the collazo fight many believe which berto lost but managed to scrape a point or 2 for the ud pacquiao would demolish him devon alexander would demolish him and zab judah would demolish berto.
This cuts off right when it got interesting. Berto's corner claimed that he had a glove issue right when the next round was ready to start. If I remember correctly, he got about 5 minutes in between rounds while his corner "fixed" his glove. The extra minutes robbed Rivera of any chance to capitalize on his knockdown. IT WAS A COMPLETE JOKE.
@MattyIceDog78 Totally agree with you... Berto was bitchin last night to the ref... Quintana scored a knockdown... Berto is a joke to me i really want to watch him getting Ko by Mosley
Mosley throws wild punches and berto is gonna capitalize on that. Berto boxes similar to mayweather and his uppercuts are lethal, berto's gonna win the fight hands down mosley is too old and berto is too fast
haha bertos good? thats the biggest joke ever! he got knocked down by a skinny drunk mexican!lol! all hes beaten are bums and the one time he fought an elite fighter (collazo) berto got rocked and out punched but the judges gave the idiot the descision. haha berto is far from good and shane the veteran will show that in january
Please, stop the preaching for a moment and tell us, are u a world champion? No, I doubt that. You can't become a world champion without being good, dumbass..
He was dazed after that punch, i mean any body would be.. although it is obvious that berto won this fight EASILY and is far superior than rivera, but i box and i know almost for sure that if that knockdown was in the middle of the round and not towards the end, rivera would of jumped on him and finished him.. I mean berto is better but he got caught, point blank.. rivera the savvy veteran would of finished strong. Berto was very fortunate that the bell saved him and he recovered in his corner.
Text book shot. I think that shot would ring anybody's clock. its not the power that makes it a hard punch to take... its the angle. Anyone is vulnerable to a shot like that. He was fortunate the round was over.
Thanks bro. The only good guy Atlas has ever trained was Michael Moorer. Thats it!! He had a shitty amatuer career, and he never even turned pro. Yet a lot of people think he is a boxing genius. The guy is a joke.
I know, he makes it hard for me to watch Friday night fights on ESPN. I dont mind Joe Tessitore and Brian Kenny, but that damn Teddy makes me want to hit the mute button everytime he talks. Another thing I notice about ESPN boxing all the commentators are from New York, and they are always on the nutz of every east coast fighter. Why dont they get some one from the west coast or mid-west?? It will end all this bias shit. PEACE!!
i wish everyone would give u a million thumbs up.... how could he mistake that for a right? in the first cintron margarito fight hes is drolling all over cintron. then he gets all busy trying to convince other people about it... ive hate him for a while.
he's ready. not sure what more he needs to prove. Collazo is a great win. He put up a great fight with Hatton, and against mosley he had some bad luck with a hand injury. I also find it dumb when a fighter gets knocked down and that automatically means he has a glass jaw. that uppercut would of floored a lot of welters.
until he learns to cut the ring off rather than walking strait in i see him having a jeff lacy like career. he eats way too many punches. lots of hand speed decent power but his d needs some work
that is not a flash knockdown, Berto was lucky to have only 9 seconds left in the round. i bet it was a good learning experience for him though, no shame in that.
tru...but he should have taken the 8 count cuz he jumped right up he was still wobbly....inexperience...he is still good but don't be surprised other fighter used this weakness to beat him....he was hurt he was lucky to have 9 secns left...very lucky....
berto has holes in his defense, he lacks defense and counter attack. he needs to work with mayweather snr or freddie roach. very good handspeed but needs to develop ringcraft. right now not ready for the top welters...but at 20yrs he's a very good prospect.

Since I saw this fight I figure out that BERTO don't have a good chin. If he don't improve his DEFENSE and let himself wide open, he unfortunately will not get far enough. I like this guy and also I see in him a good PROSPECT that can do a lot of succesfull title defenses, but needs to do some improvements and make use of his speed and POWER.
berto is good & i like him, but right now i dont even see him close to stepping in the ring with a paul williams or margarito..honestly, i dont see any of the top welter's getting in the ring with paul thats why he made the weight jump..now there's margarito, cotto, mosley, and berto at the top..i would like to see berto against mosley or cotto, but idk if he has the experience to handle the pressure & power of cotto..and idk how mosley's experience would make berto look..

Can any of you honestly call him a real world champion.
this goes to all of the people doubting my boy berto...any fighter can go down all that matter is if u can get up and by the way he twisted his ankle that's why feel twice and he's not even close to a bum I put my money on berto anyday over any other welterweight
just look at his face when he went down, a NOBODY drop him DOWN, and his corner had to buy him time to get together. you got to be his girlfriend, so i aPologizE to hurt your fEElingssssssss with the the true
ok, so if berto knocks him down its a knockdown but if rivera knocks him down its a flash knockdown? berto should have some fuckin dignity and admit he got his ass laid out
Berto's a good kid but he got himself a title w/o going through the division's best (and it's one hell of a division to begin with). If a shot Rivera can put him down hard, I think the ex-champs like Cintron or Quintana will punish him.
Berto likes to hit on the back of the head too much!! and i agree with snatch about chavez jr. hurting him not only with the body shots but with the deadly power he has. also i agree with tatertots about cotto's low blows... bcause the second one he hit him
chaves jr. would fuck this kid up! why? ok, berto knocked out by a mid power uppercut. chavez's junior speciality = need i need to mention it, he would catch him with a devastating hook or uppercut, berto would not get up.
berto is really getting hyped a little to much, look what judah did to rivera and look at this in round 6 and he gets knocked down...he is not going to be a good champion,i think he is a flash in the pan already
Lemme first say Berto is good but before we start classifying him as a top contender lets see him fight some creditable people like Judah (who is on his way out but will give Berto some good experience), Hatton, Margarito, ect...
As far as the Cotto issue goes... If Cotto faces Margarito ... Margarito can forget about his strong chin cause I'm sure Cotto will. Cotto will DESTROY Margarito's BODY. Cotto should rematch Quintana to take his other belt so that Mayweather would have to fight Cotto
Zab's low blows came in the last round. The fight was pretty much over, Cotto's low blows came in the 1st and 3rd which allowed him to dominate the rest of the fight
Are you serious? a low blow in 1 and 3 rounds allowed him to DOMINATE the whole fight, fool please judah had nothing on cotto and was being pounded profusely by cotto
first of all,the first low blow was on the belt and grazed his hip slightly! second low blow was devastating but even then that only effects you for a round at the most! we are talking about 3 minute rounds if his nuts were killing him after a round then he got some problems
Ok ok so that's why judah got up after a few seconds and jumped around like it was round 1 yeah ok,he felt the pain and if it was as bad as you were making it out to be he would have taken the full 5 mins
I don't think cotto is a dirty fighter but cotto vs judah sure as hell remind me of dirty trinidad vs vargas fight. We will see if he reverts to low blows when he is in trouble with margarito if he hits one low then we will know he does that to get out of trouble.
lol your fucking joke dirty trinidad? soar loser , sab judah hits low blows on mayweather and you dont find that dirty? cotto's low blows were accidental just like trinidad's. stop making excuses for dirty cheating ass mexican vargas who used steroids to fight trinindad, why dont you talk about that shit? ok what ever, i took cotto's loss without excuses. i would you accept it when a mexican losses the same way. ok peace!
I think cotto is one of the top three welterweights in the world but i think if he and margarito eventually fight thats gonna be a good test for cotto because of the volume of punches margarito throws and the chin he has and also hes gonna be putting pressure on cotto so cotto wont be the predator the whole fight.
I think he is overated at this time in his career. He has alot of potential but he needs to keep his left hand up. If someone would jab at him all night it would throw off his rhythm. Very very talented but not at the top just yet.
Im just saying i don't like it he is quick but not as quick as mayweather that's why it works for mayweather. i just think he needs to work on his defense to beat cotto, cintron or mayweather. but he looked alot better this weekend.
my welterweight ranking order would be: 1. floyd mayweather... cream of the crop 2. paul williams... guy is a freak 3. antonio margarito... tough and good chin 4. miguel cotto... strong but suspect chin 5. shane mosley... quick, smart, good boxer 6. ricky hatton... too small for the division 7. kermit cintron... strong but chin issues 8. andre berto... strong, fast but size issues 9. zab judah... fast as hell, but no chin 10. joshua clottey... good defensive fighter
i ranked cotto no. 4 because i think he would lose to mayweather, williams, and margarito... however, styles plays a huge factor... look what happened to williams this weekend, he lost to quintana who's probably a top 15 fighter at best and everybody predicted would get knocked out by williams... and again, cotto is a really good boxer and strong as hell but if you've seen his fights, his chin is more than questionable.
LOL! I knew you were gonna say sommething about his chin. He's hasn't shown any chin susceptibility @ 147, and just because a guy gets rocked like he has been in past fights, does not mean he isn't a great fighter. Did he, or did he not come back against Torres, and other fighters when he was hurt? Quintana is without question a Top-10 guy. No shame in losing to Cotto. If Cotto's chin was so bad, he would've never lasted against the guys who had him hurt. Time to up your boxing IQ WhiteKid.
The fact that you have three of the Top-10 guys listed as "Chinny" shows that you do not understand boxing. It's just a label for you to throw out there to hide the fact that you're ignorant to the sport.
some guys can take punches better than others... for example, zab judah is hella fast and a strong puncher but the guy fights a guy with decent power and the guy's legs start dancing when he gets solidly... and then you have someone like margarito, when he gets hit on the chin he takes it very well... with cotto, he has faced some heavy punchers like corley and torres and he's been rocked by those guys... i'm not anti-cotto, he just doesn't take punches as well as others.
Zab has only been TKO'd by Cotto and Kostya-I would hardly say they have "decent" power. They both have excellent power. Margarito has 5 losses-nuff said. You also have to understand that when Cotto faced Corley and Torres he was KILLING himself trying to make 140-didn't know that did ya? So, that's why he looked weaker in certain situations. Look at Cotto's last two fights vs. Zab and Mosley. Those are the two hardest punchers he has faced, and he looked great against both.
by the way, i've boxed for a few years and i've been a fan of the sport since i was a kid... and i know i don't know everything about boxing... the only ignorant person out here is you, buddy... u don't need a clue, u just need to get ur head out of your ass.
ur 100% right... that was before williams was outboxed by quintana... who in their right minds thought that would have happened?... after that ridiculous performance, williams drops down the list and cotto moves up.
wow..........Williams outboxed Margarito, Quintana outboxed Paul Williams, Cotto destroyed Quintana, Margarito is an idiot with 5 losses. Then Miguel Cotto should be No 2.
Judah would KO Berto. Berto is a larger fighter and has more power, but he's slower and lacks solid defense. I think Judah would KO him in 9 rounds of less. Judah KO'd Cosme in 3 rounds and Cosme was younger then. I really want to see Judah fight this guy though, I'd love to see Judah knock his lights out.
Judah and Berto would be an awesome fight stylistically. Don't sleep on Berto though because Zab is going down hill quick. You can't compare Boxing like horse racing (he ko'ed him quicker etc..), styles clash. I don't think Zab could just steam roll Berto. Berto will win some titles but I imagine him being like Zab career wise. If you think Zab is going to beat Margarito you are crazy, just thought I'd throw that in there.
Not me I think zab judah is still a while a way from berto right now but berto could turn out to be way better then judah was but he needs to work on that defense berto, the petersons, and andre ward are the best young fighters out there and will be the future of boxing.
Berto is great offensively but you guys are right: he seems to forget that the other guy can punch back. And yes, his corner helped him out in this fight between rounds.
I think Berto is still the real deal. Cosme is no joke, has been around and fought some of the best and has some very good wins on his resume and his a very good puncher himself. The mark of a champion is the ability to recover from being hurt...Berto did that.
Berto's corner did the shadiest thing I've ever seen. It made me sick to my stomach. They unwrapped his glove like there was a problem with the tape to give him a HUGE break between bells. They knew he could've still been stunned so they cheated. Not on this clip though. Anyone else see it?
Andre Berto is a multi-talented fighter with a laser-like jab, handspeed, and reflexes but, with that said he is a front runner who gets hit with a lot of hooks as he pulls back to admire his handywork after he throws a combo.4 ref see the estrada fight! If he still does that when he fights the top 5 he's toast!
yeah, he needs to really tighten up his defense. He doesn't bob and weave, barely boxes on his toes and doesn't cover himself well. He better get a few tips from Winky Wright, or he simply will not get to the elite status in the welterweight division.

this goes to all of the people doubting my boy berto...any fighter can go down all that matter is if u can get up and by the way he twisted his ankle that's why feel twice and he's not even close to a bum I put my money on berto anyday over any other welterweight

berto is a bum, after the belt sound his corner took like another minute making excuses to get him back . he is a class B fighter

Berto's a good kid but he got himself a title w/o going through the division's best (and it's one hell of a division to begin with). If a shot Rivera can put him down hard, I think the ex-champs like Cintron or Quintana will punish him.

Yeah Chavez jr. only fights club fighters, Berto will knock him out. And Im not even a Berto fan.
Willymontala 3 years ago 2
I think Berto would knock out Chavez. I'm not saying that Chavez couldn't beat him, I just don't see how his style could overcome Berto's.
Transformers217 3 years ago
Berto likes to hit on the back of the head too much!! and i agree with snatch about chavez jr. hurting him not only with the body shots but with the deadly power he has. also i agree with tatertots about cotto's low blows... bcause the second one he hit him
amerikansound 3 years ago
chaves jr. would fuck this kid up! why? ok, berto knocked out by a mid power uppercut. chavez's junior speciality = need i need to mention it, he would catch him with a devastating hook or uppercut, berto would not get up.
snatchdog1981 3 years ago
chaves jr is good fighter but never fights any talented fighters which is y hes not in the top 10 p4p fighters in the world

berto is really getting hyped a little to much, look what judah did to rivera and look at this in round 6 and he gets knocked down...he is not going to be a good champion,i think he is a flash in the pan already

lxrt90 3 years ago
Lemme first say Berto is good but before we start classifying him as a top contender lets see him fight some creditable people like Judah (who is on his way out but will give Berto some good experience), Hatton, Margarito, ect...
As far as the Cotto issue goes... If Cotto faces Margarito ... Margarito can forget about his strong chin cause I'm sure Cotto will. Cotto will DESTROY Margarito's BODY. Cotto should rematch Quintana to take his other belt so that Mayweather would have to fight Cotto
WerdzSpecialist 3 years ago
Margarito beats cotto hands down any responses. ?
davidgrecko 3 years ago 2
cotto is a bum Zab would fucked him up if it wasnt for cotto sneaky low blows
tatertots00 3 years ago
what about Zabs intentional low blows on mayweather? Mayweather still won.
maze70 3 years ago
Zab's low blows came in the last round. The fight was pretty much over, Cotto's low blows came in the 1st and 3rd which allowed him to dominate the rest of the fight
tatertots00 3 years ago
Are you serious? a low blow in 1 and 3 rounds allowed him to DOMINATE the whole fight, fool please judah had nothing on cotto and was being pounded profusely by cotto
Roberiddle 3 years ago
Judah woulda beat him. Those low blows allowed him to get a huge advantage
tatertots00 3 years ago
first of all,the first low blow was on the belt and grazed his hip slightly! second low blow was devastating but even then that only effects you for a round at the most! we are talking about 3 minute rounds if his nuts were killing him after a round then he got some problems
Roberiddle 3 years ago
A solid low blow effects you for at least 15-20 minutes
tatertots00 3 years ago
Ok ok so that's why judah got up after a few seconds and jumped around like it was round 1 yeah ok,he felt the pain and if it was as bad as you were making it out to be he would have taken the full 5 mins
Roberiddle 3 years ago
I don't think cotto is a dirty fighter but cotto vs judah sure as hell remind me of dirty trinidad vs vargas fight. We will see if he reverts to low blows when he is in trouble with margarito if he hits one low then we will know he does that to get out of trouble.
Periks19 3 years ago
we shall see
tatertots00 3 years ago
lol your fucking joke dirty trinidad? soar loser , sab judah hits low blows on mayweather and you dont find that dirty? cotto's low blows were accidental just like trinidad's. stop making excuses for dirty cheating ass mexican vargas who used steroids to fight trinindad, why dont you talk about that shit? ok what ever, i took cotto's loss without excuses. i would you accept it when a mexican losses the same way. ok peace!
Inspecter1976 3 years ago
Vargas tested positive for steroids after the Delahoya fight not Trinidad
jaguarjaws999 3 years ago
I think cotto is one of the top three welterweights in the world but i think if he and margarito eventually fight thats gonna be a good test for cotto because of the volume of punches margarito throws and the chin he has and also hes gonna be putting pressure on cotto so cotto wont be the predator the whole fight.
mrsilencio323 4 years ago
I think he is overated at this time in his career. He has alot of potential but he needs to keep his left hand up. If someone would jab at him all night it would throw off his rhythm. Very very talented but not at the top just yet.
SpitNFlow 4 years ago 3
its a crab shell defense, thats how its designed. like mayweather
common1423 4 years ago
Im just saying i don't like it he is quick but not as quick as mayweather that's why it works for mayweather. i just think he needs to work on his defense to beat cotto, cintron or mayweather. but he looked alot better this weekend.

The fact that you have Miguel Cotto ranked #4 proves you don't know shit about boxing. Get a fuckin' clue.
5burowz 4 years ago
i ranked cotto no. 4 because i think he would lose to mayweather, williams, and margarito... however, styles plays a huge factor... look what happened to williams this weekend, he lost to quintana who's probably a top 15 fighter at best and everybody predicted would get knocked out by williams... and again, cotto is a really good boxer and strong as hell but if you've seen his fights, his chin is more than questionable.
whitekid3 4 years ago
5burowz 4 years ago
The fact that you have three of the Top-10 guys listed as "Chinny" shows that you do not understand boxing. It's just a label for you to throw out there to hide the fact that you're ignorant to the sport.
5burowz 4 years ago
some guys can take punches better than others... for example, zab judah is hella fast and a strong puncher but the guy fights a guy with decent power and the guy's legs start dancing when he gets solidly... and then you have someone like margarito, when he gets hit on the chin he takes it very well... with cotto, he has faced some heavy punchers like corley and torres and he's been rocked by those guys... i'm not anti-cotto, he just doesn't take punches as well as others.
whitekid3 4 years ago
Zab has only been TKO'd by Cotto and Kostya-I would hardly say they have "decent" power. They both have excellent power. Margarito has 5 losses-nuff said. You also have to understand that when Cotto faced Corley and Torres he was KILLING himself trying to make 140-didn't know that did ya? So, that's why he looked weaker in certain situations. Look at Cotto's last two fights vs. Zab and Mosley. Those are the two hardest punchers he has faced, and he looked great against both.
5burowz 4 years ago
did you see the cotto mosley fight. He seemed to be able to handle shane's puches that night. Those were serious bombs.
7sarewild 4 years ago
by the way, i've boxed for a few years and i've been a fan of the sport since i was a kid... and i know i don't know everything about boxing... the only ignorant person out here is you, buddy... u don't need a clue, u just need to get ur head out of your ass.
whitekid3 4 years ago
paul williams No 2? what the fuck!!!
Chester1662 3 years ago
ur 100% right... that was before williams was outboxed by quintana... who in their right minds thought that would have happened?... after that ridiculous performance, williams drops down the list and cotto moves up.
whitekid3 3 years ago
wow..........Williams outboxed Margarito, Quintana outboxed Paul Williams, Cotto destroyed Quintana, Margarito is an idiot with 5 losses. Then Miguel Cotto should be No 2.
Chester1662 3 years ago
Williams is so crap, He just through some silly punches for no reason, he is crap.
Floyd is the best and i dont think no one is in his level.
Floyd would beat those guys only because he knows everything about boxing, He knows all those boxers weakness!
coolbrazilianboy 3 years ago
Judah would KO Berto. Berto is a larger fighter and has more power, but he's slower and lacks solid defense. I think Judah would KO him in 9 rounds of less. Judah KO'd Cosme in 3 rounds and Cosme was younger then. I really want to see Judah fight this guy though, I'd love to see Judah knock his lights out.
fs2themax 4 years ago
I think Judah is gonna fight Margarito in April, interesting fight actually.
FuneralSorrow 4 years ago
Judah and Berto would be an awesome fight stylistically. Don't sleep on Berto though because Zab is going down hill quick. You can't compare Boxing like horse racing (he ko'ed him quicker etc..), styles clash. I don't think Zab could just steam roll Berto. Berto will win some titles but I imagine him being like Zab career wise. If you think Zab is going to beat Margarito you are crazy, just thought I'd throw that in there.
nshtt 4 years ago 2
Those are some very good points. I agree, you can't predict matchups in that manner. And Zab is no longer fighting Margarito, Cintron is now.
fs2themax 4 years ago
Not me I think zab judah is still a while a way from berto right now but berto could turn out to be way better then judah was but he needs to work on that defense berto, the petersons, and andre ward are the best young fighters out there and will be the future of boxing.
truthseeker215 4 years ago
Berto is great offensively but you guys are right: he seems to forget that the other guy can punch back. And yes, his corner helped him out in this fight between rounds.
tentwo70 4 years ago

airbbll08 4 years ago
berto should fight judah next
airbbll08 4 years ago
I think Berto is still the real deal. Cosme is no joke, has been around and fought some of the best and has some very good wins on his resume and his a very good puncher himself. The mark of a champion is the ability to recover from being hurt...Berto did that.
Methadone4Life 4 years ago
And I hope nobody says he wasnt stunned. Andytime you get caught with a shot that buckles your knees, you're stunned
zondervan123 4 years ago
Berto's corner did the shadiest thing I've ever seen. It made me sick to my stomach. They unwrapped his glove like there was a problem with the tape to give him a HUGE break between bells. They knew he could've still been stunned so they cheated. Not on this clip though. Anyone else see it?
zondervan123 4 years ago
Andre Berto is a multi-talented fighter with a laser-like jab, handspeed, and reflexes but, with that said he is a front runner who gets hit with a lot of hooks as he pulls back to admire his handywork after he throws a combo.4 ref see the estrada fight! If he still does that when he fights the top 5 he's toast!
emildon1 4 years ago
yeah, he needs to really tighten up his defense. He doesn't bob and weave, barely boxes on his toes and doesn't cover himself well. He better get a few tips from Winky Wright, or he simply will not get to the elite status in the welterweight division.
