Why do people criticize Franken for his role in the judiciary committee? He is very eloquent and well spoken, and he's a Harvard graduate. Although he is not a lawyer, neither are Tom Coburn or Chuck Grassley.

Yes, in retrospect, Franken positioned himself well for his run at the Minnesota Senate seat. However, though apparently effective enough, his efforts in this respect seem somewhat superficial and if to some this positioning is unpersuasive, that is different from being uninformed.

Minnesotans have traditionally had dependency issues that manifest is the wish for "compassionate" "intelligent" characters to "take care of them" rather than heavyweights who will genuinely lead them.

The uninformed comments I was referring to are those of the people who continue to describe Al as an unqualified comedian and have no idea about who he is. As far as MN looking for intelligent and compassionate characters, that's more of a reflection on the quality of the people of this state than a desire to be taken care of.
