Hi, nice singing. As a general rule, youtubers have short attention spans so your intro should be no longer than ten seconds. The sound here is VERY harsh. As others have posted, lose the pic. Lowering the recording volume may help. If it does not, feel free to sing sans music. Singing accapella is a great way to truly hear yourself and see whether or not you can stay on key w/o music. Overall a great job! I know this is old, but I'm posting anyway! :)

You have a nice voice. Your mic volume (recording level) is far too high. It is causing the track to distort (clipping), which is affecting the quality of your vocals. Turn the mic input down to a lower setting, and as kathy said, soften up on the strumming (attack).

Keep it up, and good luck.

Have you done any open mics, yet. Look for some in your area. I used to go to quite a few. Great chance to hang out with some fellow sings - songwriters.

The first immediate thing I noticed was that you sing from the back of your throat. Something that really helped me was to learn how to hum correctly, and take it from there. First, with your mouth closed, part your teeth very slightly, and make sure you keep your tounge down. You'll know you are humming correctly if you feel a strong vibration on your lips.

Good though. Especially for someone who hasn't been playing for long.

Becky. Love your voice and self taught guitar. I'm self taught and now a guitar teacher. You sang a great song, though not in my key. I taught my daughter a few things on the guitar, mainly more wrist, less arm. When you strum, it's all wrist. Think flicking water off your ring and pinky fingers or a handshake. Move your arm as little as possible - wrist movement will get you to all six strings. My kid played looking at a mirror until she had a nice wrist action.

That was REALLY GOOD! You had bad recording equipment, and it sounded just beautiful! I love this song, and you certainly did it justice.

You should work on your voice's timing during the chorus. And your guitar, IMO, is too loud relative to your voice. The guitar chords are simple and boring; it's your voice that makes this song shine. And I kind of missed the super-high "Ooh, ooh-ooh oooohhh."

Other than that (and the full minute of introduction), it was flawless.
