Barberous is a good example of a great idea that was poorly executed. If they'd made the body and weapon out of something more durable, they actually would have had a pretty tough robot to beat, but making it out of plastic was certainly a death sentence...

Like the first Grannies Revenge was supposed to have a flipper in one of its legs (which would be impossible to flip anyone due to it had no proper way of getting anyone on to it)

If it's declared before the fight then it's fine. Bulldog Breed his it inside the robot and can't have declared it. But then you never know with Robot Wars what the real story is behind the mayhem.

Around the time this was aired I had a brilliant idea, similar to yours: a Robot Wars Bonfire Night Special! Basicly, Sgt Bash creates a bonfire by burning Grannies Revenge, Diotior and that special robot George Francis made for the Inferno Insurrection, and Dead Metal could make fireworks by creating loads of sparks with its saw!

I have to disagree, Barberous was very aggresive and you saw what it did to Grannie's Revenge and it got some good hits on 4x4 too. It was only later on that Hypnodisc came in and beat the crap out of all of them XD

Robot Wars has always had sacraficial or novelty robots. For the graet looks, ingenuity, or just for trashing. On the other hand it may have actually won some qualifying fights...

The qualifying critera was that the top 16 seeds automaticly qualified and then 8 are chosen by The judges to go through and the rest had to fight qualifying matches

Do you know this for sure? It may have got very lucky in it's qualifying battles, though I'm keen to stick with the novelty/sacrificial idea. Note both versions of Granny's Revenge where capable of moving... so you never know!

I think the most ridiculous robot I've ever seen on Robot Wars is "Playstation", an original Playstation on a pair of wheels... its weapon was a flipper, basically the CD door! A single pickaxe hit from Shunt more or less shattered them in the first round!
