  • The Master Blaster 4 Real !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wish you knew me like i know you....very well...da da da....LOVE THIS SONG

  • God this is such a poignant, heartbreaking song. He opened his heart to her - she had great visions and thoughts, ideas and dreams. Not unlike soooo many of us, perhaps she being more extravagant with hers.....to the degree it was hurting her. And for a long time, he hurt with her.......and then, FOR her in the end. He was so loving, but she was unreachable. And she was unable to see him, to realize he was an understanding soul, even as the connection fell away.

  • two people are deaf.

  • Very well...

  • 3:08-3:12 that was sampled 4 Janet Jackson's New Agenda w/ Chuck D

  • É o puro talento dado por Deus!

  • "My woman wants to be a superwoman and I just had to say goodbye."

  • I get butterflies every time I hear this.... bringing out the record player today. And I'm just a 21-year-old girl, maybe I have an older soul....

  • Thank you Ma & Dad for taking me to see Stevie Wonder...one of the greatest shows I've ever seen...

  • Me and my Daddy in 1972

  • If I had to pic a favorite Stevie composition...this would be on the very short list! Been trying to learn the chord progression for guitar. It's bloody difficult!

  • Another musical genius!!!!

  • A timeless masterpeice

  • I agree with Debonairman it's not easy picking a favorite from Stevie but Superwoman and Another Star are always in my favorites.

  • It is so hard for me to pick a favorite among this man's vast collection...but this two-in-one piece certainly ranks high on my list of his work. I remember Donnie Hathaway puttin' down a smooth live rendition of this song as well.

  • stevie i think could hear and feel things that we will never know in our lifetime. He has proven that time and time again.

  • my shit!

  • What a wonderful song beautifully decorated by the great (and very young and horrendously underrated) Buzz Feiten. We love you Buzz: and thank you and God bless you Stevie for all the great music.

  • @MrDavidbobo25

Music of My Mind was released in 1972

  • Stevie is the master...Plan love ya!

  • It came out in 72.

  • I don't think Stevie Wonder has hit a bad note in his whole life. Seriously, this vocal is absolutely incredible.

  • he could not make a bad song

  • Stevie Wonder is the greatest songwriter of all time.

  • This is real music- the harmony's in this song are just way above anything else iv'e heard

  • reminds me of my daddy,he played dis song when he wus down.................rip

  • I'm 23 and I love this song!

  • Stevie = good music and I'm sure more than a few babies got made too.

  • Who remember before Michael Jackson cleaned up one night with a ton of Grammys, Stevie was the one of the first to clean up, I think he had 5 Grammys in one night. (Supersitition and Intervision Albums were huge sucess)

  • Superstition was on the Talking Book album and I think you mean Innervisions.

  • Your right, thanks for looking out

  • Yea Stevie paved the way for a lot of people. I thought he got like 7 or 8. He should have... lol. His anthology is unbelievable!!! I would love to own that!

  • well, since stevie is my ultimate boyfriend, i do have one of his anthologies from 1979, i think it is '79. anyway it is the most guarded of my wax/musiccollection.

  • WOW!!!! That's incredible!! :)

  • Stevie Wonder was the first transformative figure I encountered in my young life... appreciating his music allowed me to accept that the world would be different from what I had then understood and that that would be okay.

  • my absolute favorite Stevie song!!!

  • Comment removed

  • "...your filthy head..."

    ;-)

  • I love this old authentic and rustic sound! Gorgeous song..the melody the background vocals of STevie and just everything. Stevie was always ahead of his time. Theres just no good music like this. I love this song, beautiful! Stevie is the epitome of a true music artist!

  • Stevie Wonder is the man!!!!!!

This younger generation doesn't have anything like this to grow up to. All they have is Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane.

I'm glad I grew up on Stevie!!!!!

  • Preach!!

  • This song draws you in and doesn't let go

  • "MAYBE HIS BEST COMPOSITION "EVER"!!

  • I could listen to this song a million times...and that's just warming up!

But there is a version done by 4hero featuring a guy named Terry Devos that will leave you stunned and not believing that it wasn't Stevie singing! I was speechless...and insanely jealous that he sounds so much like my idol!

  • I must be getting close to the 2 million times mark.

  • I think we all will eventually...and then some! ;-D

  • And if u think that is good check out Donny Hathaway's live version of this song it is unbeleavable .

  • I love this song, but from 3:06 on it slows into something magical.

  • Special thanks to the person who posted this song i am 22 years old and i love the stevie wonder this man is a musical genius thought he is blind he sees into the soul of every man and woman and says what our soul wants to say you gotta love it

  • @MrGoodSchool 2 Years Ahead Of Me (in age) But I Have The Same Opinion. I Bought This Album As A 180 Gram Reprint On Vinyl. I Love This Song Too!

  • You should hear Taylor Dane's version. You can pull it up on youtube. Taylor blows the house down on this song.

  • I would sing this song and then get all serious on the transition. This song is special-Stevie...he is a blessed artist-no comparison.

"A woman wants to be a superwoman and I just have to say goodbye."-wow???

  • we major!

  • There will never be another Stevie Wonder. The man is in a class all by himself.

  • Mr.Wonder A true visionary, God has sent him to us to open our own eyes to look into our hearts. His words are like water, they flow into our souls. He speaks of our desires, as we strive to be whole. A blessing in the form of music he inspires us all. I love Stevie wonder until the days are no more.

  • I totally agree with you 100%!!!!

  • Beauty has many faces, Love has but just one. In this life we move through spaces,I know my life has just begun.

  • I saw Stevie Wonder in 1975 at the Cow Palace in SF CA. It was my first concert - with Chaka Kahn & Rufus and I was thirteen at the time. It is still one of the top three concerts I've ever seen. There is nobody like Stevie! And this is one of the best songs ever.

  • Where in this world are you Marshyne! I need you right now!

  • very well, I believe I know you, very well ...wish that you knew me too...very wellllll.........but I think I can deal with everything going through ya head..... Come on now, That's Hot!!!!!

  • BEATIFUL MUSIC

  • I have loved him from the time I was in 8th grade! My older sister use to play Stevie's 45's before school each morning! Signed, Sealed and Delivered. Then I feel in love again when I saw a friend of mine play this song on bass...only hearing the song 1 other time!!! Walker

  • i feel in love with stevie wonder every since i was a baby my dad played this to me all of his music i love his music

  • I saw him do this live with the rolling stones what an incredible concert

  • OMG!!!!I was 11 years old when this song came out back in '72, and fell in love with it. Little did I know back then that the love affair with this song would still be going strong 36 years later. My older brother had it on vinyl and I practically wore the album out that summer. I've only heard this a handful of times since the 70's and I'm brought to tears each time I hear it(tears of joy). The power of music never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for the post and the good cry.

  • this is the song...

  • reminds me of high school and the friends, bbq's on Sunday's..growing up..we still listen to this music when I go visit the San Francisco , Bay Area..many memories..

    Fazz Black

  • And all the things she wants to be she needs to leave behind.

  • You dont have to be more "mature" in age to enjoy this song.I'm 23 years old and love this song to death. Sure my friends look at me crazy when I put it on but I don't care.Good music is good music, right on Stevie!!

  • THASS RIGHHHHT !1!1!!

  • yer they do.. 4hero covered this very song a while ago, a respectful cover.. but check out their stuff.. I think it would be something you might like.. they covered les fleur also, but their own stuff is very nice =) . some of it's on here. just the majors chuck money at rubbish, thats the problem..

  • On Saturday afternoons when, friends and family finishing running theirs errands, they come over to my crib to eat, hang out, and listen to Stevie. They tell me I always have a cool and mellow vibe going on. luv Stevie

  • Hey all, I am 49 and I love this song!!

God has blessed me with a wife who loves

music and this song as well. Stevie, Donny H,

and Eric Roberson all put their heart and

    soul into this song.

  • Hello everyone that has posted thair comment .

I've enjoyed reading everyones comments, it's nice to no that i'm not the only hopless romantic. i'm 47yrs old and have been lisening to STEVIE my whole life. This Master Piece of Stevie's i can just listen to this over and over until someone else get tired of it because i never will even thow it makes me sad because it makes me think of the family and friends that have passed on from life. so to say this song is BEAUTIFUL is to say the least !!!

  • So beautiful....makes me cry....such memories

  • Hey this is probably one of my Favourite Songs of all time and I am a Big Big Stevie

Fan, his observations of life in lyrics and

great songs made me open my mind to not only

good music but also to other cultures and many race issues from when I was the age of 11I thank him for that as it made me the more socially aware person I am today!

To do that through beautiful music in addition is truly special!

  • my favorite stevie song.so glad he"s still with us.we losing all our geniuses.

  • dread man you are some kind of jumbie or something what kind of negative shit you talking bout man! don't think those thoughts - or for heavens sake - lets all make sure that history gets it right the greatest musician, songwriter, composer that ever lived!

  • This song was a turning point for Stevie(at the ripe old age of 22!). He was able to finally shed the bubble gum sounds and start doing songs the way HE wanted to do them and not like the record labels wanted. The album "talking book" came out 4 or 5 months later with "superstition" and the music world has never been the same...

  • I am having a fit over this song! I LOVE YOU STEVIE!

  • by the way does anybody know who the guitar player is in the song? it sounds alot like Joe Messina, but I have a strong feeling that its Robert White.

  • My mum has got the original vinyl luckily enough! The guitarist is called Buzzy Feiton

  • thanks thats cool. I couldve sworn Robert White because of his jazz sounding guitar vibe, but then Buzzy Feiton is also a great guitarist as well.

  • JEFF BECK

  • Hi byrd1nypa. This is actually the great Buzz Feiten on guitar. He and Jeff Beck were the two guitarists Stevie liked to work with at this time. Buzz is as respected as Jeff in guitar circles, but nowhere near as well known by the masses. Well worth checking out all his output during this era, Full Moon, Rascals (Island of Real, Peaceful World), Paul Butterfield Blues Band (age 18 he replaced Elvin Bishop and Mike Bloomfied: that's him at Woodstock with Butterfield on the youtube footage).

  • since I was maybe 5 years old, Stevie Wonder has and continues to make a huge impact on me. No doubt, hes undeniably one of, if not the greatest musician/songwriter/composer of the past century. seriously his music is almost too much. im so pissed I missed seeing him at the Hollywood Bowl last month :(

    hopefully he comes around again.

  • One of the most beautiful songs hes done.

  • Stevie is one of the very few artists where I like every song on the album.

  • Everytime I hear this song, I just shake my head at Stevie's genius

  • let this wash over you.

    beautiful.

  • Lvgend=Leentje you are my Superwoman forever and always!

  • hope so

  • Now this is REAL talent. Unlike the new-age hiphop producers of today who just sample. Tell me, what song did Stevie Wonder sample this tune from ?

  • I agree! These days, musicians have no talent.

Stevie Wonder has had such an enormous impact... As a child of the 90s, I've listened to countless music sampled from this genius. Iwas listening to this, and I hear a rift that Janet Jackson sampled for her album "Janet"

  • His album covers are just beautiful!!

  • George Duke did a cover of this on his "Duke" CD

  • wish i knew more cats[keys, in particular] who play this song. so i could sing it more often, and sing it, i can!

  • Not many musicians can feel it like this. That interlude at 3:04 changed my life back in 1972. Not many cats have that type of sensitivity in their playing or producing. They don't teach that in school or the bandstand.

  • Stevie's best song, simple as that.

  • noel pointer has a (violin) version of this song

  • where were you when I needed you last winter

  • I LOVE THIS SONG !!!!!!!!

  • One of my favorites by the genius

  • So soulful,,so full of energy and love..this is Stevie Wonders best song and thats really saying something!

  • Buzzy's guitar playing is so perfect for this song ... Thanks for using him Stevie ...

  • A Classic!! my favorite Stevie slow jam..there will NEVER be a musician more talented than Steveland Morris..Thanks for posting this timeless jam, antiporcass!!

  • Does anyone have "Flower Power" from Journey thru the secret life of plants?

  • You need to go to johnniewalker23 playlist, you'd find that you're in STEVIE HEAVEN lol!

  • Thanks cuz it is indeed Heaven

  • one of the best songs ever, written by one of the best artists ever

  • Stevie Wonder was the opening act for the Rolling Stones in July 1972, at Madison Square Garden, NYC.

That was where I first heard this song; Stevie was better than the Stones that night; and when I finally got the nerve to say that to some other people, they agreed!

I wonder how many others who were at the concert felt the same way but didn't say it...

  • I think I went into an actual trance just listening to this song now. I forgot where I was and my doorbell rang...I will now return to my regularly scheduled life.

  • My mom used to play this song all the time ...and we'd sing along wht great memories of my childhood

  • WOW!!!!! This song is like a Love Story....

  • OMG!!! haven't heard this probably since i was 8 or 9...when the album was new!!! can't listen to it without getting misty. so much emotion!

  • dis joint is crazy and dat cd cover is crazy sick too.

  • Great album. You can buy it, just check around.

  • beautiful

  • stevie always make me take a minute to clear out my mind and enjoy his singing comein straight from his heart....

  • Wow! ... I get so breathless listening to Stevie's music, my heart just connects with his.

Wondeful, timeless, and classic!!! - This is in my top 5 for Stevie's greatest hits! I rank this #2 for me. And some artists have done great renditions of this song but none of them compares to the ORIGINAL.

  • This album was Stevie's Declaration of Independence to Barry Gordy & Motown. When it came out in 1972 Stevie's contract was comimg to an end & he told Gordy that he was walking if he did'nt get creative, artistic & production control of his music. Gordy knew he would lose in this exchange so he gave in.

Thus the title; MUSIC OF MY MIND.Next came the very succesful the TALKING BOOK album, &

the rest is history. He went from being

"Little Stevie Wonder" to "Music Icon".

    Col.S.A.Chase,USA(Ret.)

  • oh my god so freaking increadible

  • well said!

  • kanye west used this sample for "we major"

  • Janet Jackson also used a lil' part of this song on her "Janet" cd for her song "New Agenda" with Chuck D. It was a really kool song. This song gives me goosebumps everytime.

  • I love this song, it's not finished but so there!

  • I love Stevie Wonder he is a truly amazing artist. I wish I had the musical talent as he.

  • The way the two parts of the song segue together but are yet totally different is amazing. The first part is really organic and sounds like the decade it came out in. The second part sounds like it's ahead of its time, as if Stevie stepped out of the 70s and entered a time warp. It reminds me of looking at a surrealistic painting or a dream world conjured by the mind. And that's why this song still kicks after all these years, and will continue to.

  • Great description of part two! Also Stevie was going through a divorce at this time and it just added to the pain of missing the woman he loved so dearly!!

  • Great description of part two! Also Stevie was going through a divorce at this time and it just added to the pain of missing the woman he loved so dearly!!
