very interesting getting the historical background on the Parable of the Good Samaritan...wo the background one misses out on jesus' psychologically powerful and clever message which goes far beyond being about just some charitable person who rescues or helps out a needy strangers
@studlydorightmuffin They are saying that they are radical and silly. The scholarship that they do has already been dismissed by all REAL scholars. I guess it would be like a scientist coming out with a book and saying that the earth is in the center of our universe. They say things that are completely non-sensical and just down right lies.
@studlydorightmuffin These are some of the widely known scholars in the world. You go to any REAL scholar of the New Testament, those who devote their lives to studying the text. 9.9/10 will say that the Jesus seminar misrepresents the real jesus. The jesus who did in fact die on the cross and lost his disciples years later. Look up N.T. Wright or William Lane Craig they are more than just a historical scholars.
TJS is the most absurd panel for determining a thing ever assembled, all the more because so many who buy it are not thinking of one obvious point: why don't we study brain tumors that way or quasars or ancient Greek pottery? Assemble a panel of 150, the vast majority of whom are not even close to being specialists in the named fields and then let them vote! LOL! If Chris J. Willott has something to say about Quasars, I want to here it, but if Whoopie Goldberg does, well, you know the rest.
Let me put it this way--if you assume from the outset that the claims of "faith" cannot possibly be true, and that scholarship done by believers cannot possibly be objective, and then proceed to dismiss all scholarship that is done by believers according to your assumptions, then the Jesus Seminar looks pretty good. But that's neither a very open-minded nor scholarly way to evaluate their work. Orthodox Christian scholars present very good evidence for believing what they do.
The Jesus Seminar represents the radical fringe of liberal scholarship. If you don't believe me, then do the research yourself, only don't pick and choose your scholars to get the outcome you want, like the Jesus Seminar does with its "criteria". Read them ALL and judge them by what they say, not just by what they believe. EVERYONE has assumptions and presumptions, not just "believers". If belief in Jesus were "irrational", then Christian scholars wouldn't get very far--but they do.
Faith is not a rational means to reach a logical conclusion. The majority of evidence has clearly established that Jesus did not rise from the dead. The majority of modern scholarship has shown the bible is BS. So, if you wish to have faith know it is stupid.
just type the name that uploaded this video, "johnankerberg" in Google..
it's a Theological Research Institute, here is one of the ads about them :
"If you are interested in this religion, you can take a look at the said section and find out what you need to do in order to become part of the Lords flock."
The Two Source Hypothesis and the primacy of Mark are not radical. If you, for example, follow the Creationist mindset you will not see the evolution involved in the history of biblical interpretation. Much of the New Testament, for example, consists of stories of a small group told from the inside by one within. There is always outside history, too. And both overlap.
Great video, if you neeed any hope getting your video/ channel exposed i use a site called Tubeviews . Net It has helped 5 of my videos get ranked on the first pages.
I learned more about Jesus from the interpretation of The Good Samaritan by the Jesus Seminars then I ever expected..... check it out!

Quran:
{Surah-26-the poets (shuara)-vs-210}
and the shaitan (Satan) have not come down with it.
211-and behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it).
212-Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it.
213-so call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished.

215-and be kind to him who follows you of the believers.
216-but if they disobey you, then say: surely I am clear of what you do.
217-and rely on the mighty, the merciful,
218-who sees you when you stand up.
219-and your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before allah.
220-surely he is the hearing, the knowing.

The Jesus Seminar is utter quackery. Dogmatic assertions with no proofs.

Scholars--especially biblical scholars--disagree ALWAYS & OFTEN.
