You mentioned the old testament law on homosexuality, but you have to understand that that system of law only applied to Israel during the old testament (although sleeping with the same gender is still a sin). If God is perfect and when we sin or miss the mark we become imperfect. If we could remain in him with sin it would make him imperfect which would be impossible. It is not that we are not good enough it is that we are not perfect. He has made provision though.

There is no New Testament teaching that tells Christians to hate anybody gays included. Sin is sin and all Christian have acknowleged that they are sinners and therefore not worthy of God's mercy and grace. But thank God that he loves us.

Here's my beef with you people. You keep bringing up the bible. The problem with this is that you guys are cherry picking passages. The bible has a lot of stuff that isn't practiced, and the stuff you pick is basically just a modern form of scapegoating. So basically, stop attempting to impose your beliefs through selected passages of a thousand year old book. Gays aren't doing anything to impose their beliefs on you, so imposing your beliefs on their "decision" to be gay is unfair.

Marriage is implicitly a legal or religious union between one man and one woman. Of course marriage has been bastardized by Western secular law too, but this does not argue for marriage being anything other than it has been for centuries. Homosexuals do not have de facto power to change it to suit themselves.

The Bible also teaches that ALL people are guilty of sin and deserve death. What sends people to Hell is NOT being gay, straight, or anything like that. Hell is a place where people who have rejected Jesus Christ as their Savior goes. We're ALL sinners. The bible does not teach hatred of sinners or gays, it teaches hatred for sin. You mentioned the old testament law on homosexuality, but you have to understand that that system of law only applied to Israel during the old testament (although sleeping with the same gender is still a sin). However, the Bible teaches that ALL people are sinners but God loves sinners so much that he sent his only begotten son to die for our sins. You're right about our forefathers though they weren't Christian.

The United Kingdom - where I'm from - is a Christian nation. We're also a multicultural nation. We have civil partnerships and nothing bad has happened. Spain - a Catholic nation - has gay marriage and they've adjusted just fine. So even if the USA is a Christian nation, which it isn't, I don't see how that argument holds water. Great video!

Hang in there. The tide is turning. Just be proud of who you are and surround yourself with open minded people - gay or straight - who accept you as you are. There's a lot us out there who just want to know what you think and do not care what you do in your bedroom.
And read some history of Classical Greece, and you will find that homosexuality was quite accepted in the culture that founded the Western Civilization.

My point with the first comment is that Jesus said he was not there to Abolish the Old Testament but to fulfill it, and that it still stands. Which is why it's part of the bible. If it was to be abolished it wouldn't be part of the package. A true Christian would be bound to follow it. Not cherry pick all the good quotes.

Yes, but thats nowhere near the point.. the point is that religious leaders rely heavily on "We are supposed to be enforcing cristian values beacause this country was founded on them". If people were aware of history they wouldn't fall for this. The First Amendment is there exacly to stop any religious group from dictating public law, which is supposed to be for the benefit of all, not the christians, jewish, muslims or paganists . To maitain religious freedom, you NEED secular institutions.

One of the men next to Jesus asked him for forgiveness, and Jesus told him that he was going up to Heaven with him. Christianity clearly states that homoseksuality is a great sin, and so I can't see why the church should give it's blessings to a gay couple.. But really.. Why would a gay couple want that blessing anyway?
I think there should be a way to join a gay couple in a way that gives them the same rights as hetros, but withought involvement from the chuch. Then the christians (= the facists) could have there saintety all by themselvs..

If God is perfect and when we sin or miss the mark we become imperfect. If we could remain in him with sin it would make him imperfect which would be impossible. It is not that we are not good enough it is that we are not perfect. He has made provision though.

There is no New Testament teaching that tells Christians to hate anybody gays included. Sin is sin and all Christian have acknowleged that they are sinners and therefore not worthy of God's mercy and grace. But thank God that he loves us.

The bible says that gay people shouldn't even be allowed to live, let alone marry, so let's not be naive about where these objections come from. This isn't about marriage, it's about the consistent attempt to dehumanise gay people. If they make gay marriage illegal, then they'll try to make gay sex illegal again, then they'll want stronger penalties, and what will stop them pushing until they can do what Leviticus tells them they must?

I am hetrosexual, and I have had my share of gay men making passes. LOL But I am also assertive in my sexual oriantation and prefrence...so saying all that I am for gay marrages as long as population levels are sustained. If America were truly based on Christian values it would be communist (not Marxist) or at the very least socialist. I would say Britian before Thatcher messed it up was a nation truly built on Christian values.

Depends on how you look at that one. Are you free, when you must sacrifice the majority of your time to earn a lot of money for someone who doesn't work...and if you pay income tax, you basically get no compensation for 3 months out of the year. Is that part-time slavery?

Benefits like what? Tax breaks are bullshit. If you're serious about your marriage, all assets should have both the husband and wife's names on them anyway in case someone dies. Social security needs to be abolished anyway. What else did I miss?
