i use those LEDs headlights at work and the batterys dont last long. find a way to use bigger or Li-ion batterys, maybe attached to your belt. generally speaking the bigger the battery the more juice it can hold. a compass would be helpfull too, not GPS.

For an alternative power source I bought a power inverter. I plan on hooking it to my car so that I can use my car as a generator. I know it's a temporary solution but so is a generator. It's a lot cheaper and lighter than a generator. As a plus, I can buy solar panels and batteries to use with it later.

Any disruption of the oil supply would be worse then an economic collapse because fuel is needed from the farm to the factory. Countries might stop taking the dollar or it collapses but they will still take goods and services. The only problem with that is we do not make anything anymore. We have to change our dependency on oil because that is a trigger point for a chain reaction that society will not be able to handle. Buy some farm ground to grow your own food, Try to get off the grid and be self sufficient. In the 1st depression 85% of the country was self sufficient but now only 4% is. Of course I have 10 guns and 10,000 rounds which I obviously cannot carry by myself, but if my fellow patriots can reach the designated rendevous point in time, then we can make a real fighting/survival force.
I like where your head is at, I think teaming up with other survivors/patriots is a great idea, I wish I knew people in my area that are aware and preparing. My biggest problem is finding a piece of land me and my family can live on.
Along with all my other preps, I bought a wheat grass juicer. Supposedly normal grass juice has a lot of vitamins and enzymes that your body could really use in a stress situation. I'd mix up a mild bleach solution and wash it first then cautiously start juicing it. In a famine situation. I'd be able to exploit a resource that most people wouldn't know about. Of course if I had my deck garden available, I'd be able to grow real wheat grass and eliminate the guess work.
You need to have gasoline an a plan to get away if you need to especially if you live in a big city or near one. Get any problems with your car fixed now while you have money that has value.
when you get your gas make sure you add fuel stabilizer. 1 ounce per 2 1/2 gallons. I use a brand called STA-BIL which you can buy at most hardware stores.
Acquiring game animals can be best done with traps and snares and arrows as these are reusable unlike guns where ammo may run out and allows for stealth where required. As far as food stock lots of rice, beans, sugar, flour, oil, cocoa, salt, spices, yeast and canned veg and meat...some of this can also be used to barter.
I bought 1 doz of traps 6 months ago as well as 100 rounds of ammo per gun. Bought a cabin in the mountains and stockpiled enough food for more then 6 months as well as various meds and emergency kits.
I also bought a food saver. In some countries where the currency failed I heard they used bags of rice as money. With a food saver I can vacuum pack rice into 2 or 3 pound blocks that can be easily traded. That's why I bought my food saver (although I've found many additional uses for it since then).

Very good video and advice. I am an old man (70) and I am having the hardest time convincing my grown kids to pay heed to this economy. They laugh at me. Well, when the shit hits the fan, and I believe that it will, it's me and mamma they'll come running to. Too bad, I only have enough provisions for the two of us. The reason you will need a gun is your neighbors. I don't care how nice your neighbors are, when you're starving you will do whatever it takes to feed your family.

i use those LEDs headlights at work and the batterys dont last long. find a way to use bigger or Li-ion batterys, maybe attached to your belt. generally speaking the bigger the battery the more juice it can hold. a compass would be helpfull too, not GPS.

For an alternative power source I bought a power inverter. I plan on hooking it to my car so that I can use my car as a generator. I know it's a temporary solution but so is a generator. It's a lot cheaper and lighter than a generator. As a plus, I can buy solar panels and batteries to use with it later.

Any disruption of the oil supply would be worse then an economic collapse because fuel is needed from the farm to the factory. Countries might stop taking the dollar or it collapses but they will still take goods and services. The only problem with that is we do not make anything anymore. We have to change our dependency on oil because that is a trigger point for a chain reaction that society will not be able to handle. To many people in government and industry dragging ass on this issue.

I just learned, through trial, how to can my great-grandmother's chicken (dead now); I still need to learn how to can it for the shelf though, and not for the refrigerator.

@drutter good point, if there i something like that happening there will be a police state running things (marshal law), and you don't want to be brandishing a fire arm unless you want it taken away, or worse, you could be killed. On another note, I don't have the feeling we have to worry about this collapse to the point of anarchy, but being prepared to farm your own produce and live stock and having some emergency currency that isn't worthless (as the dollar might crash at any time) is good.

My BasicsRice, dried beans, Flour, Dried Oats, Dried pasta, tin veggies, tin meats, tin fruit, Powder milk, Sugar, tea/coffee, soap, Water.
I worked out 14kg rice, 7kg oats, 10kg Flour should last a family of four 28 days. Oats, bread, rice.
Have Fishing, Trapping, Hunting, Cooking, Clothes, bedding, and shelter gear.
Have Veggies Seeds and let some go to seed to collect more for next season when planting. You can collect water from rivers, streams, Rain water off roofs into barrels, etc.

I'm in the same boat as you(the "crazy one"). I don't have a 72 hr bag, instead I have a 2 mo. bag. It weighs over 100lbs, but with my selected relocation spot, I won't have to walk for days. Of course I have 10 guns and 10,000 rounds which I obviously cannot carry by myself, but if my fellow patriots can reach the designated rendevous point in time, then we can make a real fighting/survival force.

Along with all my other preps, I bought a wheat grass juicer. Supposedly normal grass juice has a lot of vitamins and enzymes that your body could really use in a stress situation. I'd mix up a mild bleach solution and wash it first then cautiously start juicing it. In a famine situation. I'd be able to exploit a resource that most people wouldn't know about. Of course if I had my deck garden available, I'd be able to grow real wheat grass and eliminate the guess work.

Acquiring game animals can be best done with traps and snares and arrows as these are reusable unlike guns where ammo may run out and allows for stealth where required. As far as food stock lots of rice, beans, sugar, flour, oil, cocoa, salt, spices, yeast and canned veg and meat...some of this can also be used to barter.

I also bought a food saver. In some countries where the currency failed I heard they used bags of rice as money. With a food saver I can vacuum pack rice into 2 or 3 pound blocks that can be easily traded. That's why I bought my food saver (although I've found many additional uses for it since then).

I already have SPAM and MRE's piled to the ceiling in my garage. Plenty of dried beans,rice, and bulk grains. The freezer is stocked, the generator has 500 extra gallons of gas. Guns are loaded and there is plenty of extra ammo. Extra car batteries and and propane tanks. I have an pop up trailer but also have several tents and plenty of camping gear. Your bugout bag should have everything you need for 72 hours. Don't forget your Bible.

What do you think's going to happen to students? Or even the education system in general? What should the students that are still attending college prepare for?
Also, I've been accepted to UAF (Fairbanks). Do you think it would be safer to stay here and finish or would Alaska have more to offer in the case of an economic collapse? Reno's pretty much the armpit of the USA so I think crime would break out here in no time if anything were to happen economically.
