  • Listen to yourselves fools...My nigga Knaan did not steal as its illegal.

Knaan is an international star and he borrowed the sample and he acknowledged on his album if you bought it and not downloaded it. Knaan is bringing African talents to light and showing it to the rest of the world..that is why he borrowed samples from Ethiopia...Even though we kill each other every day..it doesnt mean we cant appriaciate our talents and share somethin. East Africa Represent...Big up Knaan ....Somalia...

  • @SomaliMidnimo

This guy is right. Guys, he sampled a song. A beautiful song, a song we all love. Hiphop is built on creative sampling, nothing wrong with it at all. If anything if it opens some people up to this music then what is the problem, we all win.

    :)

  • @SomaliMidnimo The sample belongs to an eritrean artist; Get it right Ethiopians! And I second SomaliMidnimo's comment.

  • @somali

fuck off eritrean, are you fucking retarded

  • k'naan was inspired by ethiopians?

  • Comment removed

  • @SomaliMidnimo ok ok i wasn't trying to say he was inspired only by ethiopians i just didn't know that. I also know he is into jazz music which not all ethiopians may listen to. So stop trying to blame me for being an idiot youre the idiot who just went too far on me

  • @TheIm2BiZ11 what's wrong in being inspired by ethiopians? now becouse he's somali he cant enjoy ethiopian music?

and every hip hop singer or group samples older songs.

  • first heard this after finding out k'naan sampled it. I don't want to sound patronising but this is an amazing sound considering its 30+ years old and from ethiopea. 5 stars.

  • This song is playing on repeat in my head-I Love Ethiopian music .

  • @Rosemism lol...me too!!!

  • ha the marley brothers really did strip mine these ethiopiques cd's....just check out the sampling on K'naans album and the new damian marley and nas project...

this one was used for K'naans 'Dreamer'

  • who killed sgt pepper?

  • The hooks and drumming on this track are peerless

  • it is so clear that ethiopia is the center of the music in africa

  • center of what music? maybe your ideas of music are monolithic. get out of them. music has no center.

  • Classic!

  • is every body know about this music is stolen by the somali now rapper ,im a dreamer

im so mad when i listen this dude music ,he is thief ,this was golden era ya more music please

  • hey selambryant

He didnt come on he have a right to use it, as long as he told the truth in one of his interviews he clearly stated that all his music was influenced by Ethiopian olds (jazz), so give the guy a breath thanks.

  • The undisputed Ethiopian Elvis.

  • The Ethiopian Elvis, Alemayehu Eshete..my dude is still kickin it like dem old dayzz..keep doin it Alea..

  • They used to have these on emusic when they first went to buffet style downloading. This was one of the best tracks off one of the best volumes. So much good stuff, if only the fidelity was better. Mahmoud Ahmed is great. Check the Samuel Belay cut, whoa.

  • Wow look at my comment 7 months ago! K'naan has sampled this track on his new album (song is Dreamer).

  • Yeah i saw that yesterday. Do you think Alemayehu will get any compensation or is it legall you just to ripp it off like the way K'naan did?

  • yea, i think its owned by the french label that released ethiopiques. im pretty sure k'naans label wouldnt release it without permission. yea when i heard it i was like, i knew someone would eventually sample this, im glad its someone who is actually worthy of sampling it like k'naan.

  • Classic 1970s Ethiopian pop! I have all of the Ethiopiques cds (except for the ones that don't have the classic stuff). Thumbs up to Buda Musique for reissuing this incredible music. I hope more cds in the series are on the way! Keep 'em comin"!

  • k'naan-dreamer!!!

  • there he is...elvis ;)

  • Whoa, has a great beat and a near eastern/ funk feel. The band is spectacular and really feeds into the parculiar tempo of the singer. Something any audience could dance to.

  • what a wounderful song

  • God beless agrachgin!

  • ETHIOPIA TIQUEDEM LEZELALEMU AMIEN

  • I can't believe this song is a classic. It sounds so fresh! I can definitely see this song making waves if it were released today. Wow, love it.

  • So true!

  • Indeed! I agree 100%||||

  • I nod in agreement.

Classics will always sound fresh! That's the goal of making music I feel. Some cats of today have forgotten or do not understand that concept. You have to put out music that you wont be ashamed of 40 years later.

    Blessings,

    -Yah

  • click hear for some good pathways

  • wow such a nice song

the beginning part would sound perfect in lke a rap song or sumtin lke tht

  • Good call, dude.

  • Ethiopiques! Fantastic! Volume 4 is my favorite; definitely worth checking out.

If I could be inclined, I would upload lots more, but I'm a lazy bugger!

  • What a great classic. Thanks for posting this. Alemayehu is amazing, a living icon.
