Listen to yourselves fools...My nigga Knaan did not steal as its illegal.
Knaan is an international star and he borrowed the sample and he acknowledged on his album if you bought it and not downloaded it. Knaan is bringing African talents to light and showing it to the rest of the world..that is why he borrowed samples from Ethiopia...Even though we kill each other every day..it doesnt mean we cant appriaciate our talents and share somethin. East Africa Represent...Big up Knaan ....Somalia...
This guy is right. Guys, he sampled a song. A beautiful song, a song we all love. Hiphop is built on creative sampling, nothing wrong with it at all. If anything if it opens some people up to this music then what is the problem, we all win.
@SomaliMidnimo ok ok i wasn't trying to say he was inspired only by ethiopians i just didn't know that. I also know he is into jazz music which not all ethiopians may listen to. So stop trying to blame me for being an idiot youre the idiot who just went too far on me
first heard this after finding out k'naan sampled it. I don't want to sound patronising but this is an amazing sound considering its 30+ years old and from ethiopea. 5 stars.
ha the marley brothers really did strip mine these ethiopiques cd's....just check out the sampling on K'naans album and the new damian marley and nas project...
He didnt come on he have a right to use it, as long as he told the truth in one of his interviews he clearly stated that all his music was influenced by Ethiopian olds (jazz), so give the guy a breath thanks.
They used to have these on emusic when they first went to buffet style downloading. This was one of the best tracks off one of the best volumes. So much good stuff, if only the fidelity was better. Mahmoud Ahmed is great. Check the Samuel Belay cut, whoa.
yea, i think its owned by the french label that released ethiopiques. im pretty sure k'naans label wouldnt release it without permission. yea when i heard it i was like, i knew someone would eventually sample this, im glad its someone who is actually worthy of sampling it like k'naan.
Classic 1970s Ethiopian pop! I have all of the Ethiopiques cds (except for the ones that don't have the classic stuff). Thumbs up to Buda Musique for reissuing this incredible music. I hope more cds in the series are on the way! Keep 'em comin"!
Whoa, has a great beat and a near eastern/ funk feel. The band is spectacular and really feeds into the parculiar tempo of the singer. Something any audience could dance to.
Classics will always sound fresh! That's the goal of making music I feel. Some cats of today have forgotten or do not understand that concept. You have to put out music that you wont be ashamed of 40 years later.
im ethiopian and i LOVE knaan .. i dont consider this stealing . he must have grown up listening to this funky shit.. one love... somaila, ethiopia
