  • I've been practicing an getting better...your tutorial is the best to watch and learn from...keep them coming!

  • @Bannerrj42 hello thanks! keep practicing!

  • im loving this and i so want to get it down now i understand the scratch but my i seem to be clicking the crossfader twice to your once.. why is my hand going nuts what am i not understanding (i also have my crossfader the opposite way to yours)

  • @santaclause163 try going back to basics and learning the flare and chirp separately. then linking them up.

  • RESPECT! Good videos!

  • That's AMAZING!

  • why do you reverse your fader (hamster)? i love Threadless shirts too!

  • @EvolveDrumNBass because it feels more natural to me to scratch this way!

  • Thanks a TON!!!! I've been wanting to do this scratch, but I didn't even know what it was called,. I can do it now, but only the chirp to flare variation :( I'm working on the flare to chip now

  • I've been looking for this scratch forever! I can't wait to practice :)

  • @studioscratches

Hey 2 things. What kind of vinyl do you use to scratch with?and i have stanton str8 60s ,will those work?

  • @grayzywork i used scratchy seal in this video and i also use digital scratch records with serato. make sure you sign up to the main site where i answer these questions.

  • That little finger roll bit on the fader is probably the best I've seen in years.

Truly finger lickin' good! Much Respect!

  • I want to marry you.

  • hey, what record are you using to scratch with? does it have bunch of scratch samples on it?thanks

  • @gza123456789 scratch / battle record with just sounds on just for scratching

  • @gza123456789 thats dirt style scratchy seal

  • @gza123456789 That would be Superseal, I use that one for practice. Each sample is queued to the same 1 line, so you only need to pull your sharpie out once.

  • @gza123456789 this specific record is the SUPERSEAL skratch record, homie!

  • Nice job,....hamster too

  • How come your MK2 is chrome? Did you customize it?

  • @Denso2131 hey its a chrome faceplate! just slots right on top...

  • @studioscratches Oh I see... they have that now huh. How much is it? Ryt now Im just practising how to scratch. Its hard, I cant get the hang on the crossfader thing.... how bout you, how long have u been practicing til got the the rhythm? O by the way Im using a numark mixdeck, it it more easy or hard to practice there. Tnx man for replying

  • @Denso2131 not sure its very old! been scrathcing for 10 years, got ok after 1 year, 3 -4 years to really understand and sound better. depends what deck you have. you need a high torque deck like technics or vestax pdx ideally.

  • got a Innofader in my sa5 one hell of a fader i would recommend it to anyone that has a compatible mixer.

  • got a Innofader in my sa5 one hell of a fader i would recommend it to anyone that has has a compatible mixer.

  • Short-eee your are really dope....

  • @Emac058 thanks for watching!

  • you are really good shorty

  • @mandaltby thanks for watching!

  • whats the record your using. Please recommends a beginners superseal vinyl.

  • @sacd2000 im using the record "Super Seal" by thudrumble.

  • This just drives home how badly I need Super Seal/Skratchy Seal!! Sick of my awful awful skippy Scratchadelic record with all its terrible terrible samples!!

  • @DJUsive1 yeh its dope!

  • @studioscratches

The same day I posted that a mate came round and left me 2 copies of DJ Flipsyde's Breakers Yard 2, as well as Hillbilly Brayks and Peanut Butter Breaks!

    Win. =D

  • @DJUsive1 now thats cool!

  • Where did you get the chrome plates for your mk 2's?

  • @mikewhitford came with the decks second hand, maybe hard to find records

  • @studioscratches thanks they look bad ass and until I can win dmc championship (not happening) there is next to nowhere to get gold or chrome decks. P.S I think you and shortee should have a scratch off if it hasn't already happened to see who is better. I think you would merc her.

  • @RicercarUPSB Vestax pmc 06

  • hey are you varying the speed of the fader from the chirp to the flare or is pretty much constant??

  • @ifYOUcantPULLit good question - mostly constant but do whatever your style requires

  • @studioscratches

Differing speeds will make for different patterns of the same scratch too...

  • This scratch for me was a lot easier to learn than a 1 click flare for some reason. It just feels more automatic. A 1 click flare is really awkward feeling, even today i still have some trouble with it and can't do nearly as fast or as clean as i can a chirp flare.

  • @Joeybits yeh the flare is a weird one! stick with it!

  • @esassin thats true. theres quite a few hamster tutorials but regular is more common for sure.

  • sweet vids short-e ur a ledge im in love x

  • sweet vids shorty e ur a ledge x

  • ehy short-e, you're one of the only people i know who jog with the left hand and fade with the right. I do it too, but i thought i was the only one. just so i know, is your cross fader inverted (right deck to the left and left deck to the right)?

  • @TheGOMES37 hey yeh its not just you! :D fader is inverted. I really need to make a video explaining this. its a common question - Reverse or hamster style. Same as Qbert but i use hands the other way round!

  • @TheGOMES37 I think she uses the fader crab style.

  • @mikedubmixing

Yes she does. It's Hamster/Reversed fader. Find 1, 2 and 3 click flares so much easier in Hamster, but its all about what feels right for you (or the guy who asked you)....

  • @DJUsive1 true dat!

  • Hey Short-E can you futher explain what you're doing when you swing this scratch? The movements don't seem the same. It sounds like you're doing a flare forwards, but I'm not sure what's happening on the way back. It doesn't sound like a flare forwards and a flare back. It sounds like the flare back might only be half a flare then you go right into the chirp. Yeah I'm confused :(

  • @djlightsout06 hey its definitely a one click flare forward then a one click flare on the reverse then a chirp. just try to do it slowly then eventually you will find a rhythm. Swing is hard to explain you have to feel it. go for the motions slowly at first till you get it down. If you want to send a video response I will check out what you are doing. Thanks - Short-E

  • i would to ask you a thing...

why you perform scratches whit hamster style?

don't you think is better for a beginner lears to scratch in normal crossfader first?

    peace

  • @Ellipidioveronica I get asked that alot. its just style or preference. like skating regular or goofy. neither is right or wrong, easier or harder. i started regular but preferred hamster. flares are slightly easier hamster, transforms are harder and vice versa for regular. hope that helps! - Short-E

  • @Ellipidioveronica hamster style was the roots of scratch cause back in da days use the phono/line switch to cut and not the fader (cause was crossfader).

  • how big of difference does your mixer make when it comes to scathing

  • @mug04life its more the cross fader - you need a sharp cut in.

  • @DJMakeWay cheers check the video description for the beat and link to get it. its Beat # 8546 from the Studio Scratches beats for scratching series. Digital Download available.

  • nicee

  • @forkii hey there, the record i use is superseal and search on turntable lab in the usa or google for where you can buy it. thanks!

  • Hi, i am a beginner in scratch and i watch all the scratch videos i can find in youtube and yours are the best, really you helped me a lot !

Sorry for my english, I'm french ^^ !

  • @BeastieSpoke wow thats great, pleased to be of service! peace :D

  • What would be the best brand of turntables and mixer for a beginner DJ?

  • @SolidusSnake142 i personally love technics 1200 / 1210 mk II and mixer either vestax 05 / 06 / 07 / 08 or rane ttm 56 / 57. hope that helps.

  • @studioscratches Thanks, I'll take those in effect when I'm buying my stuff.

  • Dope tutorial!

  • good tut

  • hello short e, is that a cover for the technics? look rather mirrored and shiney..

  • certainly is!

  • Nice.

  • can you do live loop sets short-e

  • not sure? tell me more about it...

  • Live looping is the recording and playback of looped audio samples in real-time, using either hardware (magnetic tape or dedicated hardware devices) or software. It is a process with numerous sonic directions, open to instrument textures, improvisation and composition techniques.

  • Ha nice wording! I don't do that at the moment. Just freestyle scratching!

  • sexy hands

  • HEEEEYYYY!!!! You made it! Awesome! - Silknz
