My argument is that your facts are wrong. Cogliano isn't an unproven rookie, he's likely to turn out minimally to be a top 6 forward that can score 25-30 goals a season. Penner isn't a floater, I'll be the first to admit his unwillingness to play aggressively under a MacT system, but his size creates the illusion of being slow and unfocused. People said the same about Jagr too you know. And Hemsky DOES get the room to play with because Penner's sheer size makes him an offensive threat. Discuss.

You just said he isnt unproven and then said "he is likely to ". Tavares will likely put up 50 goals at some point in his career but that doesn't make him proven. Penner can't be compared to Jagr. Jagr put up at least 25 goals in 16 of the 18 years he played in the NHL and it would have been 18 if he had played the full season. There's no need to play aggressively when you're as skilled as Jagr, although Penner doesn't have that luxury. If you're 6'4 240 and soft then you're not worth 4+ million

The move at first was, but he admitted that it was more of a long-term plan that a quick fix. When you look at how he's producing, with no signs of slowing down, 4.25 a season looks like a steal. As for that being the reason why Lowe was fired: the EIG pressured Lowe into making a quick-fix move to get them back into the playoffs. And he "resigned" so he could be the president.
