  • circuit. the word is circuit. seems like that would of made things a little easier to explain

  • Just one word to describe this video...Excellent!

  • dude's hat is bigger than his head lol, but this is extremely useful.

  • did you just let them sit on the cone while doing this video o.0

  • Great video. subscribed and thumbed her up. My question for you is what amp to get (noob here). I just bought two small 10" mtx TR4510-44s. 4ohm/200RMS each. I was just wondering what amp you would buy if you were me, and im also looking to buy an amp i can be flexible with such as being capable of matching up with bigger subs in the future. I figured it'd be the best thing to plan ahead while im at it. Thank you

  • hey man thanks for the video i have a quick question. what would be the best way to wire a 15 inch rockford fosgate t2d2 onto a kicker 750.1?

  • Would wiring four 2ohm dvc come out in 1ohm or half ohm I'm thinking half but I'm not sure

  • How should I do if i have one SVC 4 ohm and one DVC 4 ohm?

  • Good video bro

  • I didn't watch this whole video. I know I had those questions a year ago good video. very good. keep working haha

  • how would I connect two 4 omh DVC subs together at 2 omhs into a 2 omh amp? Cause If I did the subs in series and the amp in parallel I would just be at 4 omhs but I did both in parallel I would be at 1 omh and thats not enough impedance for my amp. My amp will only go as low as 2 omh. Is it possible to even have my amp see 2 omhs with my subs together and give out 2 omhs?, or would I just have to deal with the 4 omhs and get a new amp?

  • Ik this is probably a really stupid question but do you need the amp or can you just hook the sub up to a sony stereo system???

  • @sleadhead1g you need an amp

  • @sleadhead1g any sub you buy is going to need power going to it you headunit typically puts out about 50w per channel when your sub could have a 500w handling capibility you really wanna match your subs and amp together ie 500 watt rms sub 500 watt rms amp

  • THANKS SOO MUCH I ALMOST FRIED MY AMP :)

  • dude i love the Orion HCCA's the magnets are MONSTERS! good vid. thanks helped alot

  • awesome!!

  • Dude, u sooo answered my questions to the T.

  • i just watched this to look at the hcca

  • hey can anybody please tell me that i have to connect 4 4ohms normal speakers together.. should i connect then in series or parallel.. if i connect them up in series it gives 15 ohms and when i connect them in parallel it gives 1.4 ohms.. what should i do ? i want nice and clear mid and high end from those not bass.. thank you..

  • pierdolenie kotka za pomocą młotka.. :/

  • good vid dude made it easy to understand

  • i got a question i have two mtx terminator 12s and a koiler amp 1000 watts how do i wire these woofers to the amp

  • thank for the info... 10/10 :)

  • Okay say i am getting 2 12 Alpine type R's and gonna use a Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D. Would i need to buy the dual 2 or dual 4?

  • will i blow my two dual 4 cvr kicker 12s with a Rockford t1500bd at 4 ohm 1000rms

  • Okay im confused... If i am getting 2 12's do i need 2 ohm or 4 ohm subs?

  • @xELx6x12

You need to match them to your amplifier.

Here's the math. Multiply the amount of voice coils by their impedance if you are running series, for instance four 2ohm loads all series will be an 8ohm load at the amplifier. Divide the amount of voice coils by their impedance if you are running parallel, four 4ohm voice coils will be a 1ohm load at the amp.

It really depends on the lowest operating impedance of your amp. Some amps can only do 2ohms, others can do 1 or lower.

  • @xELx6x12

So let's say you have a Kicker ZX1000.1 amplifier. It can handle at lowest a 2ohm load. So if you wanted to get two 12" subs, they would need to be either:

Single 4ohms, which if you go by the rule I mentioned, parallel the subs, 4ohm subs divided by 2 voice coils equals a 2ohm load.

Dual 2ohm, which you'd have a couple of options, parallel each sub to a 1ohm load then series the subs together to make 2ohms, or series each sub for 4ohms then parallel for 2ohms.

  • How much did u sell them for

  • GOOD LOOKING HOMIE. I CAN TELL A BIG DIFFRENT GOT 4 FOSGATE HX2 !!!!!!

  • Thanks man! Helped alot!!

  • 1 / R = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3 +... in parallel. It only halves in this case due to R1 and R2 being the same. So if you have a 2R and a 4R loudspeaker, then the total R in parallel is 1.334

  • i have 2 jl audio 12w 8ohm with 1000 watt kenwood can they handle if i cut them down to 2 ohms there at 4 right now buh i hear the lower the better it gets an i also have a 2 way crossover that doesnt need power supply can i use that with this much power i dont wanna wreck anything an one more thing i did some reseach an the jls are 125 watt with 2000 watt peaak is this amp safe to use a can i use more power (another amp)

  • @sledman11 you'll have to read the manual for the amp to see what's the lowest impedance (ohms) it can handle. If you go beyond (lower than) whatever limit the amp is designed for, you risk letting the magic smoke out of the transistors. As to the crossovers, simply put them before the amp, it'll put less strain on the crossovers, and the amp will be used only to amp the part of the signal that you're sending to those drivers, better use of power, and less heat generated.

  • @sledman11 I had 2x JL12W0s (8ohm version) in parallel for a combined 4 ohm load. Pretty sure that's the lowest resistance you can go with those two subs. Check JL's site, they used to list the performance of their various subs running off various power levels. Form what I recall, should be able to run W0s off of double their rated power limits for short periods no problem (eg 250watts RMS each). 1000watt amp is no problem so long as you don't go too crazy - can check voltage draw.

  • Thank you so much! i was curious as to how to wire down to 1 ohm and such, great explanation!

  • @a21bravo thanls 4 sharing DUDE !

  • bad taste in window treatments. Who ever saw fabric granny curtains over vertical blinds?

  • hey can you please help me! i have 2 12" kenwoods running at 4 ohms but i wanted to parallell wire them down to 2 ohms. but they only have ONE terminal. can you please help me?? D:

  • @p1n0ym4n321 positive to positive to amp, negative to negative to amp. make sure the amp can handle a two ohm load first though.

  • So if I wire two Dual 4 ohm subs in parallel to my mono block amp, it'll be at 1 ohm?

  • the impedance get "cut in half" in parallel if they are the same ohm* not always

  • Hey got a question for ya or any one who can answer this. if you look at my video my subs a 4 ohm sub. can i do that with it? and what would be its ohms be after i do that?

or whats better higher ohms or lower ohms. for a sub that maxs out at 1500 watts?

  • Comment removed

  • you're hat must me like 2 or 3 sizes too big. does it fly off with the windows rolled down? lol

  • that was really clear! i had doubts about how to wire my new Vibe Space and u made it really clear, thanks bro!

  • Dude thank you so much. Seriously, THANK YOU!!!

  • I have a ? I have a 93 ranger with 640 cranking amp battery and a 95 amp alternator I already have one amp a renegade ren 1100s 75x4 rms pushing 4 2way spkrs @4 ohms I have it hooked up with 8 gauge wire it seems to work fine my ? is i'm about to buy another amp that puts out 450 rms to push a sub should I buy a cap for my second amp or battery or will it work fine with what I have thanks for any advice.

  • Where can I order these wires??

  • bobo!!!

  • Ok what is it called when you have 3 subs wire together with 1 positive/ negative cord for all 3 subs. I have 3 12"s (JL w3 v2's) hooked to a JL 500/1 Mono block, but i have 1 set of wires coming out to 1 channel.where you show here each speaker has its own posi / neg wires. What is best for straight LOUDNESS?

  • 1:45 am in Norway

  • Is there any difference between 2 ohm and 4ohm subs in terms of which one is better than the other?

  • got a question if i have 4 12's at 4 ohms all wired in parallel going to a mono block amp that has two sets of positives and two sets of negatives what is the ohm load

  • mader fock

  • 32337440

  • 32337440

    32337440

  • why would you want to wire it with more ohms? i thought the lower the ohms the harder it hits?

  • More ohms meens better sound quality, listen to the video.

  • Thanks

  • Hi, Please help me with my setup. I want to get the coils right from first time and not unscrew the sub later from the box.

    i got SWR-1223D 2x 2ohm

and kenwood 9104D wich say it's stable at 1 ohm.

the kenwood specs tell that you get 900w at 2 ohms ant more than 900w at 1 ohm.

later it say that i should connect my 2x 2ohm voice coils to each connection to amp. i'm confused and i want to get out the most from my hardware. thank you

  • parallel wiring equation: avg ohms / # of voice coils

series wiring equation: avg ohms x # of voice coils

If you have 2 dual voice coil subs at 16 ohms each:

parallel would be 4 ohms (16/4=4)

series would be 64 ohms (16*4=64)

  • I have a question.... i have two alpine type x subwoofers and they are double coil each. if i want to run both at 4 ohms how should the wiring be? i have a mono amp that has 2+ and 2- .do u have a video about that? or can you explain to me how its done?

    Thanks!

  • Great video. I stumbled upon this video on accident and I'm glad i did. Helped me out tremendously.

  • ciota!

  • Yo!!!!!!!! No lie.... You look just like that drummer dude from blink 182. All you need is the mohawk & tattoo's. Lol!

  • Have a question I have a RF amp 1000wats and one punch p2 subwofer is bes that I wire it at 2 ohms ? Thanks… I'm new into this things thanks.

  • I didn't know a f'n thing about complex amp-sub wiring (a.k.a. more than 1 sub, multiple voice coils etc...) until I read some guides online and your video made the reading stick. Basic electronics principles but watching it being done in front of you inspires confidence. Thanks for sharing. Big up!

  • i got 2 , 4 ohm boss tens, and my friend sold me an amp for really cheap wich is why i bought one with little power (400 peak, 150 rms) its a DUAL , 2 channels, but can be bridged, i was going to wire them in series, so that would make them 8 ohms right? so if i wired them in series and bridged it how much power would they be getting , bcus the ohms do make a difference right, like less is more type of thing?

  • @frankster262 nvm i actually figured out alot in 6 minutes , i got it all figured out

  • hey i have a question i have two 15.2 hcca orions run two ma audio 3600watts rms when it brigde each subs as each amp...the deals is it keeps cuting off..the amps also got hott do u know whats going on witth that .. wring in 1 ohm

  • nice show

  • Do you like oranges :) ?

  • thanks man really helped me out.

  • when im putting the speaker wire into the amp do i put the positives from both woofers in one terminal and the same for the negative?

  • Thanks for th vid man. Explained alot and very good!

  • Is it the same for wiring subs in my car??

  • @713slipkn0t713 thats what hes talking about doing

  • good shit bro.now can you explain watts vs rms..thanks

  • Great Video. Nice explanation!

  • @Nathanhansen5254 only like 30 times on this comment thread alone...

  • has anyone ever told you that you kinda look like rob dyrdek?

  • I have two kicker l5 15s... their dual 4... thanks for this, they sound so much better off my 3k watt amp

  • great job bro! now take yo ass 2 sleep haha

  • Good vid man. I have a dual 4ohm sub each going to their own mono amp.

I want the amp at 2ohms, so I want all + to the + on the amp, all - to the - on the amp & it will see 2ohm, right?

  • you fuck men hjajajaja

  • @a21bravo.Nice explanation video!I have a question,how could i wire my two Mtx Audio thunder 9500 dual 4ohm voice coil to a Mtx Audio thunder 81000d class d amp?series or parallel?please help!thanks

  • ok, so i got a 2000 watt amp at 4 ohms bridged, do that mean i have to do series parrallel to 2 dvc 4 ohm subs?

  • Can anyone tell me how i should hook up my system?I have a Mtx Audio thunder 81000d class d amp and a pair of Mtx Audio thunder 9500 12 inch subs with dual voice coils. If anyone could help me i will really appreciate it!

  • i have 2 dvc 4 ohm subs an a 2 ohm stable amp how should i wire them ?

if anyone knows help is appreciated thanks

  • i have 2 pioneer champion series pros and an amp that can drop to .5 ohms. do i wire it like ure video or what do u recomend?!?!?!

  • are u selling subs man??

  • Thank you so much you helped me out alot

  • So i have 2 4ohm Infinitys, and a 1 ohm stable mono amp, i would parallel each sub and bring both subs wires into one per (+) and (-) on the amp to make 1ohm? Like ur first set up with 2 subs? Thanks

  • Thank you very much!

  • Good explanation. I learned Series and Parallel wiring years ago and it sure helped me since I played in a band and it is good to wire up speakers correctly.

  • Great video man explains a lot.

  • yep u forgot series series ;)

  • This is a GREAT explanation. You made so much more sense then the other things that I have read. My question, for clarification, is this...

Using your Series Parallel wiring as an example. You said that the series wiring doubles the impedance. (2ohms per coil become 4ohms) Taking the 4ohms, and wiring parallel to the amp is half. (Takes the 4ohms back to 2)

Is the amp "seeing" a total of 2ohms? Or is it 2 ohms for each sub? (4ohms total) Trying to make sure I completely understand. Thanks

  • @billyray97404 Yes amp will be seeing 2 ohms

  • Okay, this is really helpful. BUT, just to ask, i have 2 subs at 4ohm (dual), and my amp is 2000W @ 4ohm (each sub is 1200 RMS, but i never will max them =P)

With this, i have a box that allows me to wire them to one connector on the outside, i'm not sure of that wiring (but i can change it if need be). So i need to know the best way to wire the subs in the box to go to the single connector, if that makes sense. any response would be appreciated!

  • I got Two Kenwood Performance Series 12" Single-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofers any cheap amp recommendations?

  • Dude, I've seen this vid but never clicked it til now. Super helpful video! Well explained man. Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

  • hey man, when wiring in parallel can you hook up the + from the amp to VC #1 and the - from the amp to VC #2? just wondering if it makes a difference. thanks

  • he looks like Rob Dyrdek!

  • what happens when you wire your subs below the impedance like right now i have two 10s wired at 2ohms bridged but my amp isnt 2ohm stable

  • good explanation, props

  • U did a good job explaing and those hcca's are sick!!

  • When did Rob Dyrdek start making car stereo videos?

  • is there any way to get my 3 4ohm dvc subs below 2.67??

  • @zunit128 yes, wire all 3 of them in parallel/parellel

  • If I have two 8 ohm subs wired parallel to a 4 ohm and I add another 1/2 (half) ohm sub to it in parallel what ohm will I be running at

  • i have a dual 2ohm and a dual 4ohm ones a L5 ones a L7 and they are both wired the same way to my memphis 1000/1 PR and it sounds fine to me

  • Those subs are fuckin HUGE!!!! Where do I get one and how much lol

  • @DezertRacer7103 Sonicelectronix(.)com and theyre too much. Look for Fi caraudio, Sundown, Audioque, Dc audio, Digital designs, Ascendant audi, Sound solutions audio (SSA) etc...

  • @Invin86rs I really like MMATS. I sat in their van at a bass show in Daytona Fl. I lived in Orlando. I have never felt something hit that hard. It had 16 15`` Speakers. Blew my mind and eardrums LOL

  • when 6your doing you series parralel wiring at the end of these you get 2 + eand 2-? what do you do with these? cause i have 2 fi q dvc 2 ohm on a audioque 2200 and i wanna put it in 2 ohm but it doesnt work!

  • Dude I got a serious question to ask u Hmu at spynx17@yahoo

  • Ok now. I Gota get 2 more fuckin amps. Shit. Both of mines at 1 ohm stable. That's bull. I just spent lik $1400 on this. Fuck

  • what if u have 2 speaker that has the 2 voice coils and its 3 ohms what does it get cut to ?

  • @ThePotsmoker1996 1.5ohms ... You must have jl's

  • what if u have 2 speaker that has the 2 voice coils and its 3 ohms what does it get cut to ?

  • @benenarmor What kind of amp!!! It will probably play at .5...

  • nice explanation for everyone. good video

  • 0.5ohm load? you could fry eggs on top that amplifier after playing it for a while

  • @wow1022 not always some amps play very well at .5 or lower

  • @a21bravo

orion hccas are rated at 2000W RMS right and you have 2 of them so....

    4000W at 0.5 ohm is 89 amps

and 4000W at 2 ohms is 44 amps

either way the amp is gonna get incredibly hot from that much current

fyi your oven in your house at it's max setting doesn't pull anywheres close to 89 amps... and ur putting that into speakers? lol?

  • @wow1022 well the speakers are not ovens they have specifically designed cooling... And depending on voltage and if the person operating the system has some self controll and educated use of the volume knob, everything will be ok.

  • @wow1022 How did you calculate that?

  • @ChrisTwitty

    ohm's law

  • @wow1022 How did you get the voltage?

  • @ChrisTwitty

    square root(P / R)

  • @ChrisTwitty

    square root(P / R)

  • fuck those magnets are huge

  • i have 2 pioneer DVC 4 ohm 1000w RMS and an autotek mean machine 4000w monoblock amp. how should i wire the subs to the amp?

  • awesome vid best example i seen so far as usual hell with you tube haters thanks for your time

  • whats the best way to wire 2 12inch kicker cvr(800max 400rms) to a brutus hifonics 1200w amp?

  • Great vid man, very informative, hit all the important points!

  • um you something a bit wrong, because net everybody has a sub like that one with two voice coils. on a series sercit on a regular single coil sub it will drop both subs you did that with to two ohms if it is a 4 ohm sub, you need to get a little more background on what your doing because for a dual coil sub everything is basicly backwards

  • @bigdogdig Well. Not one time in the video did I say I was going to cover every wiring combination in the world... I did however explain the relationship between different wiring combinations. Wiring a single sub with 2 coils has the same result at wiring one sub with 2 coils. NOTHING is "backwards" when wiring a dual coil, you will have a identical final impedance when wiring the same number of resistors with the same wiring combination... 162,000 views and you're the only one who is confused

  • Haha I just learned this stuff in physics you should be a teacher u explained it better and nice vid

  • nice vid but i ave a quick question if you wire in series parallel and one goess out do both go out or just one if you have 2 dual voice coil subwoofers...? thanks really helped me out

  • Thanks man. I learned how to match impedences because of this VIDEO!

  • Can I do this with 1 dvc sub?

  • nvm says orion at the end of vid

  • what kind of speakers are these, i notice powerbass box early in the vid. these magnets are fat

  • cool info dude , thanks for the vid !

  • Great video for people who might need a primer to electrical circuit design!

Its always easier for me to come up with total resistance in a parallel circuit by : R/n = total resistance

where R = impedance of one resistor and n = number of resistors

assuming that all resistors have the same impedance (like here)

    again great vid!

  • thanks very helpful

  • i have a dual 4ohm and a dual 2ohm how should i hook them up for the best result

  • @nibbler1973 its not good to hook different subs to the same amp.. messes with the wattage coming out..... i mean you can do it, but every one who knows what they are talking about will tell you not too.... what are the amp specs your planning on hooking them to?

  • dude no offence or anything all do respect but if i lived in a house like that iwouldnt be spending money on subs no offence

  • @skoalrocks57 not my place anymore. I don't think you would have taken the time to send the message if you didn't mean it to be offensive. I highly doubt you are expressing concern for my best interest... yay, Im Allowed to start buying subs now !

  • @a21bravo Fuck that guy.

  • @skoalrocks57 that seems like something that you would say to offend somebody dick head... keep your fucking opinions to urself

  • @skoalrocks57 you're a fuckin hater dude, this guy gave good info, so fuck you and your family have fun burning in hell

  • @skoalrocks57 you're a fuckin hater, this guy gave good usable info, so fuck you and your family, fun burning in hell cunt

  • @skoalrocks57 who the hell cares about his house??? He's trying to help explain how to hook up subs(and I thank him for taking the time to do so) dipshit!!

  • @skoalrocks57

And your comment is on a video where he is using subs he is trying to sell as an example. How ironic

  • with the series parallel wiring will the white wires be connected like the blue ones are?

  • if a amp says 700x2 @ 2 ohms that means both channels can hold 2 ohms?

  • holy shit thats crazy it was 2:18am when he said it was 2:17am in the morning haha

  • nice bimbo cap

  • @CosmicSPC Thanks

  • so im thinking of getting a new sub Fi Q. my amp is stable at 2 ohms, so i should get the dual 1ohm coils sub and wire it in series to get two ohms right???

  • HEY!! Its Shitty G!
