  • interesting guy. i enjoy listening to him.

  • What the song at the start? Lovely guitar rift..

  • @shedmeat White Stripes ‐ 300mph Torrential Outpour Blues. /watch?v=mcog70xgyAw

    Brilliant song.

  • @DaewonSmith Thankyou mate! You're right, its a top tune.

  • danced on his grave XD

  • Big hugs and kisses for putting this up! MUWWWAAAAHHHH xoxoxoxo

  • Katy Perry is one lucky bitch.

  • swwooon russell i love u sooo mucchh

  • "Dark laughter would come again, and here we bloody well are." Awesome.

  • she did bumming full marks x

  • Russell is so fit <3

  • "He's having sex with abstract concepts" :L

  • he's gone from this.... to doing adverts for the HP Tablet. i miss the old russell. what happened to the revolution?

  • @AntonioRepiso hollywood :/

  • @AntonioRepiso Could not agree with you more. It's truly such a shame

  • i like Brand, but have just finished reading the book, totally changed my life, looked forward to watching so much - and i find myself watching ten minutes in, and Brand has already moonwalked on the guy who wrote this beautiful books, grave - i felt a little twinge in my heart when i saw that and they just 'hit the road'. you're kind of ruining it guys, christ -

  • Although this is probably the best documentary ever. I am don't like it when Russell swears in front of the old dude 6:13 i dunno why. :/ great documentary though

  • "that's clearly not a shop" ha! great line

  • I'm actually in love with Matt Morgan

  • but jack hitch hicked, no pck up

  • If you love Kerouac like myself and Russell, check out my new book Road Trippn' (by Sean McLaughlin), a tribute to Jack; youth; Freedom; Love; God; sex, drugs, rock'n'roll and America set across the country and culminating in the streets of NYC, a month prior to the attacks of 9/11. Check it out at Amazon.com and support another working class artist from one of America's other former industrial glory towns - Cleveland this carnation around instead of Lowell.

  • haha i fucking love russell brand and matt morgan

  • thats a famous fucking actor and he's not doing a huge holly wood movie for a quick few million ? well ill be a son of a bitch!

  • My favorite thing about people who don't like him will comment several times at different times which means you've seen this multiple times. Which means I'm implying that may secretly have a crush on him and actually adore yes adore his comedy. And I bet your an english comic who is jealous.

  • @ALVARAD0X

I know ive always thought that he looks like him!!!!

  • the contrast between matt and russell when it comes to hamming it up just never ceases to amaze me

i love how russell could just walk around unknown

    STEADY AS SHE GOES!

  • Where's Pee Wee Herman's documentary on Tolstoy?

  • @RollingOrmond the tapes were lost along with mr T's critique of paradise lost... having said that, russell's a genius. dont take the piss :P

  • @yippeekayay1 So genius is now defined as loud unfunny attention-seeking englishman? Man, alot of geniuses out there!

  • @RollingOrmond loud-yes. attention seeking-definitely (but hes brutally honest so i dont mind). englishman- The best comedians in history were english, whats your point?...... but unfunny? listen to some of his bbc radio 2 stuff. he's notoriously quick in interviews. Improvisational master, and brilliantly anarchaic and carelessly witty. Most of your favourite comedians likely love him: american and english. And neal cassady would probably have worshipped him. What else can I say? I'm a fan.

  • @yippeekayay1 After hearing two minutes of Brand's raging mediocrity, Kerouac would've smashed his annoying face in. It's true, if only a time machine could bring these two together!

  • @RollingOrmond naahh ive gota disagree pal. but im sure kerouac and cassady wouldve loved and agreed with your outlook on life, as well as your standards of character judgement... well done.

  • The music to this documentary is awesome.

  • Just what i've been looking for...this guy's awsome!

  • This is a really good program. Brand brings intelligence back into to comedy.

  • thank you so much for putting this on youtube :P

  • one of the children of the beat poetry movement? what

  • matt is the man

  • I want to see Mystery (the pro pickup artist) and Russell go to a bar and compete to pick up the most girls. Or pick one up the fastest. I dunno, something like that. But it has to be done.

  • @oobah2

that would be epic! or maybe style (neil strauss) coz mystery might too similar.

Also have you heard of cobra commander from ''keys to the vip''? If he had a contest with russell that would be hilarious!

  • dude he's british. They are usually cooler but he is nothing compared to kerouac or cassady. He seems arrogant being like i know about this stuff and in on the road kerouac just tells it like it is in a stream of consciousness rather than boasting and shit. I like brand usually and think biritish people are usually funny but it doesn't work so well here for some reason. But that's just my opinion.

  • 'She did bumming, full marks'

  • is it just me or does matt morgan look like matt cardle with long hair

  • @ALVARAD0X OMG he so does. I'm sure they are the same person.

  • @ALVARAD0X matt cardle looks like Matt morgan

  • @ALVARAD0X he looks like a young david gilmour

  • The opportunity to see things like this are why YouTube is an amazing thing, and things like the bed intruder and Chocolate rain and the damage they occasionally do to the collective consciousness are, at the moment at least acceptable prices to pay. In five years on the other hand...well we can judge what stands when the dust settles.

  • "and that`s clearly not a shop.." HAHA LMAO!!

  • HAHAHA. Lowell is not quiet at all, its dangerous as FUCK, don't you hear the sirens nonstop in the start?

  • thats definitely not a shop

  • I love the intro with white stripes, i can imagine Russel and jack together, they are little bit odd!

  • Wow, I live 20 mins from lowell and had no idea thats what he was saying. Sounded like he was saying lull not Low-ell.

  • this is bourgeois as fuck

  • This is more supposed to be one persons view of Kerouac's writing & the impact & effect that his style of living had on him. You could get a stuffy academics view on his use of language and the psychological effects of his actions on himself & those around him but I guess it wouldn't be as easy to sell to a TV network as putting a "celebrity" on it. Also I think this was intended to combat the "Daily Mail" attitude to Russell & the belief by many that he was not intelligent and erudite .

  • No, I've no moral objections to how he lives his life - neither did I imply such a thing. It's just the fact that he took a lot of drugs and did a lot of "wild living" does not in any way qualify him to be an authority on one of the greatest writers of American twentieth century literature. And that's my point, that this program should have been more about Jack Kerouac and less about Russell Brand.

  • And there was me thinking this was going to be all about Jack Kerouac and one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century. But no, it's all about Russell Brand and his attention seeking shenanigans. What a shame.

  • @robinbrum if you're morally opposed to the way russell lives, and in fact, the way he perceives things you sort of missed the point of the book....

  • thanks a lot for hosting this

  • cheers for putting this up mate

  • drugs and sex and livin in the moment, good stuff like that. Sounds great to me.

  • They recently both admitted that neither of them actually fully read it and that it was a humourless relic

  • @noirgris0 where did he say this ? not challenging just curious to read it

  • @bobzillagrr Russell said on his radio show that he read it when he was younger but not since and that Matt has never read it

  • Who the hell are these guys and why do they think they're so awesome?

  • ARGH I HATE THE DAILY MAIL FOR MAKING HIM QUIT THE BBC!!!!!!!

  • I can't stand his [Russel Brand] voice.

  • @Cr1ms0n1t3 I listen to podcast (him and matt) before i go to sleep

    It's comforting to me.

  • @Cr1ms0n1t3 I can't stand your dumbass, whiney yank voice.

  • @Cr1ms0n1t3

I didn't mean to give this a thumbs up.

    I like Russell's voice.

  • 8.45 why is matt morgan such a moron?

  • "look at his little face" oh russell.

  • I wish I could talk like Russell. He just roles out words that are perfect for the situation without even thinking about it.

  • @HimynameisLM Its called Editing :P You dont hink is all just in one take do you?

  • @EatYourChimp Idk, I guess I didn't think about it. But the edits they chose are good. :/

  • " I am the living embodiment of John MacEnroe's courtside lament, ' you can't be serious'."

  • whoa whoa whoa..hang about 3:49 theres a little old lady in the corner of the cafe bearing in mind this cafe is in the middle of the us of a,wearing a fucking arsenal shirt!!! have a word russell : )

  • @24bourney haha good spotting

  • I've always said this but, NONE of that Andew Sachs stuff would have happened if Matt had been on the show that week as usual.

  • @HelpMyNamesTaken soo true russ needs matt :)

  • Love the music on this.. Jack White is amazing.

  • Thanks for upping this. I caught the last 15 mins of it on tv lastnight and was gutted I missed the beginning.

  • I have the same book copy :-)

  • It is indeed refreshing when someone famous/popular has respect for the written word. Perhaps many beautiful yet seldom used terms will no longer be considered 'big words.' I can only hope.

Anyway, I love how Russell Brand makes witty banter seem so damn cool.

  • - this guy's a maggot -

  • they choose a pick up truck with the most horrible gas mileage

  • Who are these rock stars without guitars. I know Kerouac. I recognise him and his legacy.

  • NO Chicago?! :(

  • PIN PIN

  • This is an embarrassment to Kerouac and the BBC

  • Jeez, how many BBCs are there?

    "Like an angry Pope" lol.

  • thank you for uploading!

  • "That's c;learly not a shop". lol

  • Matt Morgan is the coolest motherfucker in the world.

  • 'woman with no toe and hairy shins!!' hahaha

  • "The situation was exacerbated by an unnecessarily large, giant tennis ball."

    LMAO

  • is matt morgan eddie vedder's twin brother?

  • @shambler92 No, he is Aphex Twin's hahha

  • tyvm Miss Fable! :D

  • Russell Brand is the man.

  • I miss Matt. Desperately.

  • @LittleMissTeatime he's like a mate isnt he. i just want to know he's ok - i feel like his mum or something...

  • @20SAULiO91 I know, you just don't wanna let him go to waste. He's such a talent. We need more. He and Russ need to get back to working together, or even solo Matt. I almost have this image of Matt crashing through the doors of Russell's wedding, waving a small pin as a weapon and complaining about a ridiculous illness, and the two running off to make wonderful comedy again...

  • @LittleMissTeatime i hope he is at russ' wedding, he should be

  • @20SAULiO91 That would be nice...I mean they went through so much together. Appearently Matt got married last year. Wonder if Russ was there...He married a girl named Katie, strangely.

  • @LittleMissTeatime Matts back in London and is well according to Russ' twitter, they are also still working on 'Bad Father' together which is nice!

  • @20SAULiO91 Yus! Oh that's good. However, I have heard the plot of "Bad Father" and it is insanely like the movie "Fallen Angels" (or something to that effect) staring Robert DeNiro and Sean Penn. Russell's a conman hiding as a priest in a small town, they are escaped convicts who pose as priests in a small town.

  • @LittleMissTeatime Well, i cant help but think 'Sister Act' with Whoopie Goldberg which has to be one of the greatest films ever made, so i hold out hope...

  • @20SAULiO91 Oh yeah...don't know why I jump for the lame one nobody remembers and forget about one of the most "always-watched-at-christmas-time-but-not-actually-a-christmas-movie" movies ever...

  • @LittleMissTeatime you are ibviously cooler than most people then :)

  • @20SAULiO91 Cooler? No. Useless retainer for movie knowledge? Yes.

  • @LittleMissTeatime YOU FOOL, those things are ONE AND THE SAME!

  • @20SAULiO91 Don't worry, I am aware that I am far cooler than those who mock me for not watching Jersey Shore. I mean, really, of all the things to mock a person for...

  • Matt is hilarious! 'you haven't bought that. that is clearly not a shop.'

  • this is one of the funniest documentries I've ever seen

  • She does bumming. Full marks!

    Funny

  • 'SPANISH COMMUNISM...he's avin sex with abstract concepts' lmao

  • The world is not as great a place without Matt and Russell together.

  • are they not working together at all now? I never understood Matt's "holiday" from the show! :(

  • you just danced on his grave

  • im f-ing young dont you think

  • you can see the top of the jar they nicked when they are in the car! LOL!

  • @EnemyOfChocolate ROFL :']

  • Why does that crappy Megaupload site NEVER work for me?? Rapidshare or Hotfile link pleeeeeeeeease? thanks

  • fuckin brilliant!! " youv'e not bought it... and it's clearly not a shop!"

  • Just watched the wholo doco. Incredible. Really makes you think.

  • so funny

  • lolsage

  • "You just danced on his grave."

    "Oh no!"

  • "...for years he roamed the country like an oboe..." Like an oboe? What? Oh, like a hobo, got it. Actually ran through my mind that he said this. Silly me.

  • @cofcfemmes Seriously sounds like he says that. Gotta love his accent.

  • @cofcfemmes PMSL !!

  • @satsumamoon

    PMSL? Explain please.

  • @cofcfemmes with russell u never know lol

  • @cofcfemmes hehehe '...like an oboe..."

  • lol you just danced on his grave, I laughed so much at that bit! XD

  • I say 'well done' to Russell and Matt for bringing Jack Kerouac to the attention of a new younger generation. Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Son Volt's Jay Farrar are releasing a CD of songs dedicated to Jack Kerouac in October called 'One Fast Move or I'm Gone'. If you want to join a group/thread of Kerouac fans search through 'Yahoo! Groups' to Subterraneansgroup or Beat_Happening - be good to have ya!

  • I love it when they are looking at the love list and comes upon Spanish Communism and Russell says, "He's having sex with abstract concepts. Democracy... God, that was a hell of a night, it was very fair." Then later when Matt teases him about his list... "Girl with one toe and hairy shins, that girl at the bus stop." He's so sharp and lovely.

  • "she did bummin' full marks!" lmao :D

  • This is so weird. I bought Russell's Booky Wok at the Barnes and Noble in the background @ 3:24 ....I'm freakin out.

  • Lol, Booky Wok! Is that his Chinese cookery book?

  • I miss these two together!! :(

    Bring back the radio show...

  • @LillyNoCake

Definatley - just discovered the podcast archive a couple months ago. Hillarious stuff.

  • I live in Lowell and I can definitely understand why kerouac would want to leave. It's really dirty and filled with weirdos.

  • well that's only in recent years... You're also forgetting all the self centered bitches and the stuck up assholes, too.

Back in Kerouac's time, it was much different.

  • tbh you sound like one for saying something like that

  • Russell is so dreamy when he laughs at Matt for being stage frightened. Matt is an incredible comedy mind, I'd sure like to see more of him!!!

Love the way they joke about the tennis ball, etc...

  • "you haven't bought it and it's clearly not a shop" ha!

  • "You completely missed the point of the book ya bastards!" hahaha

  • "She did bumming - full marks!"

  • i love Matt! he is so mysterious, silent, funny and good looking!

  • I have watched this a few times now. Russell is brilliant, but I wonder if Matt will continue to be in the background. I think Matt is an exceptional character, dazingly funny and yes, very handsome. Hopefully Matt won't hide... he's very underrated!!

  • 'so its not like "she did bummie-FULL MARKS!" '

    'no.'

    hhaha

  • At first I thought he said oboe instead of hobo.

  • Russell is real sexy but Matt is BEAUTIFUL!!! Me makes me 'SIGH'!!

  • they're both sexy boys hehe.. i think thats the raconteurs- steady as she goes playing the background there. it was a side project of jack white's

  • as if he unintentionally danced on his grave XD

  • Wow, three of my favorite things all together: Russell Brand, the White Stripes and Jack Kerouac. I read On the Road when I was 19 and was entralled, too.

  • Does it matter?

  • why wouldnt it?

  • well, i should say, if you understood the book, and dug it right...that the writers revelance is minimal...Jack Kerouac woulda said the same thing probly.

Not that i strictly act that way myself. I enjoy knowing alot about the people i read.

    :) x

  • before the names sal paradise and dean moriarty were edited in it was written as "jack kerouac" and "neal cassady"

id say understanding the writer is an important key to understand the book...in this case. =)

  • hehe, yeah i know what you mean...im finding hard to argue because i totally agree with you :)

    Its a strange situation.

But the only thing i would add is that, IMO, theres two types of readers.

    Us n them, I guess.

  • "Us n Them"

right you are my friend, right you are.

  • thank you for posting this :D

  • What songs playing in the begining. Fell stupid for not knowing

  • 300 MPH - The White Stripes

  • Got all nervous and wore make up ..lmao..like you do

  • Children of the revolution: Russ and Noel G have a radio show on talksport at 9pm on saturday the 18th of march! Listen!

  • Nice.

    But... WHAT ABOUT MATT???

He was actually my favourite part of the radio 2 show. Matt's gotta be there. :P

  • I know yer, I loved Matt, he was the funniest and now Russ doesn't mention him. : (
