Traditional bows usually refer to non compond bows Long bows are one type of traditional bow. Yes, it can be made from layers of wood,etc to be a traditional bow with or without an arrow shelf. Primitive bows are the native American or Amazon, etc. One piece of wood made up the bow. Some bows had a sinew rope to pull back on the bows back giving it a deflex. and called a compond indian bow..Nothing wrong with calling a laminate bow "traditional"; using only hand tools or power tools.
man I tell you if you use the rope and wedge methode its a lot more versetile, and a smaller kit as you wedge it and bend it by hand into place as the glue sets, or carving one out of a singe peice of wood a self bow that is how you make a bow by hand otherwise power tools take off too much material so its done by a knife, and sanding though there are differant ways to make one. I will take a traditional bow over a machine made one, machine made is soo lifeless sometimes in the feel of the bow.
