Looking at where the work ended last year on this line it appears that no further progress has been made.
Last week the Enfield Town Council has directed the DPW to provide them with a report as to the status.
Since the Town Council is on a summer break it will be sometime in August when the report is issued along with an interview with the rail owner and ConnDOT at a public meeting.
The funds are in place and the Town is very anxious to have the project completed very soon.
Nice to see new life coming to it!!! Not many Railroads get reborn these days. Is it being reactivated??? I think just about every crosstie will need replacing!!! Will you do a follow up video on this when it is rebuilt??? I would like to see it when they get it rebuilt!!! Thanks!!!
The Central New England Railroad is receiving funds from the Connecticut DOT through ARRA TIGER Discretionary Grant funding for re-construction of this line.
Someday, I will try to film the first train to arrive at Scitico Station [which is no longer there] at the Rte 190 crossing in 20 years and post it up.
Wow...seeing this Track reminds me of the old Georgia & Florida Railroad in North Augusta, SC back in the 1980s...before it was torn up...the line had been out of use for over 20 Years...the track had just fallen apart like the track here. Is this Track still used??? Looks like it is abandoned.....great Song for the Video!!!
@LCRV1 This line has not been used in 20 years but it is slated to be completely rebuilt within the the next 2 years up to the Connecticut state line in Enfield with a new rail bed, small bridges, road crossings, signals, ballast, rails and ties.
