The voice of an angel. Lord, the moments of pure, unadultrated joy this great man gave to the world and to me. Listen, children, listen to that voice. One of the finest talents of the century. Listen. Please. For your soul.
I first heard jackie wilson in 1956=Lonely teardrops. It was nice listening but Alone At Last vividly illustrates his range and talent. oh where have all the great Black singers gone?
Do you think people will be listening to today's "music" 50 years from now the way we are listening to singers like Jackie Wilson or Roy Orbison, etc.? No way.
@tallyshark Prince made a comment that today's music is "bubble gum music". Now I was born in 1964. This song was out before I was born and I love it!
With all of the so-called docu-drama movies (Ray, La-Bamba, Lyman, Dream Girls, etc) they've made over the past twenty-five years, I fail to understand why a movie has yet to be to be made with an unbelieveable story, about an unbelieveable talent, with an unbelieveable voice, wrapped up in an unbelieveable tradgedy no screen write could ever devise. WHY NOT? For all the money Gordy made off of Wilson, HE (alone) should do it. Or maybe Nate Tarnabaums family? RIP great one!
I really feel sad listening to such a great artist. I watch bandstand a million years ago. Jackie was the one. His range is almost impossible to reach. Nobody did the songs better. Singers these days don't get what great music is about. I agree with you. pianoman123

"Alone At Last", based on a Tchaikowsky's "Piano Concerto in B Flat" was a double sided hit, the flip side was "Am I The Man" a great Rocker! The man could sing anything...they sure don't make um like that no more! "Alone At Last" reached #8 on the Billboard Pop charts in 1960, and # 20 on the R & B chart... That's probably the first and last time that Tchaikovsky will have an R & B hit!!!
some singer died to early what a choir he has up there

IT'S SAD THE WAY JACKIE PASSED...I WISH THEY COULD HAVE MADE A MOVIE ABOUT HIS LIFE..BUT IT IS SO TRAGIC.....

@bcopp Two different genres. Silly to compare. It's like comparing Johnny Mathis to Steven Tyler, or Ella Fitzgerald to Madonna.

"Alone At Last", a personal favourite so
wonderful to hear once again... I love all
of Jackie's Great Work... But the Operatic
Classics, just take me to another Place.
What a Magical Voice, Brilliant, I truly love
it.
Thanks, Marcie
