I agree with that you can ride a bike on the road, but you don't need to be in the center of the whole lane where you will hold up traffic. The law is you can be on the road, but have to be as far to the right you can so you won't block traffic.

116 people don't know that the law actually requires cyclists to stay off the sidewalks. The lane was standard width and there were no obstacles, therefore according to the law that you quoted yourself in the description, you should have been riding on the right.

It's illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk. Even though you may have a few nice cops who will turn a blind eye, a lot of them will write a citation for riding on the sidewalk. I've known people who have been cited for riding on the sidewalk. Bikers have to follow the same exact laws as cars do, and they have the same exact rights as cars do.

In Colorado, a law was passed recently that a motorized vehicle must give at least 3 feet of clearance when passing a bicyclist. Unless you're on a motor cycle, that means changing lanes.

I've noticed that, in general, the bigger the pickup, the bigger the asshole behind the wheel. Of all the harassment I've endured as a cyclist, easily 90% is from pickup trucks, and full ton crew cab and bigger are a disproportionate share of those. There can be three lanes available, and these jerks will give me ten inches of clearance when passing or honk and cut me off entirely. I've bee buzzed by an old lady in a Prius, but that's the exception, not the rule.

i started riding my bike to go to the parke, to go to the goceries store , to soccer practice. it is fun and healthy, And Most main avenues have smaller streets that run parallel to the main avenues. I Ride those street and thay get where i am going without incoviniences, with the occasional ashole reveing their emgine. And if i have to go into a piece of big road i do it on side walk or as far to the right as i can when there is no sidewalk.

Cars need to give a minumum of a metre (3 foot) clearance, to a cyclist, to pass safely. The cyclist judged correctly that this could not occur and did what he could to prevent an unsafe overtake. Again, changing lanes is not hard.

116 people don't know that the law actually requires cyclists to stay off the sidewalks. That hundreds of teenagers ride their bikes on city sidewalks doesn't change the fact that this cyclist was obeying the law. Also, police are well-versed in cyclist rights and blaring your horn at a cyclist because you are unhappy with driving slow can get you pulled over if they catch you doing it. I've seen it happen.

At least in the video it looks likethe person was almost in the middle of the lane. If that is the case then i probably would have done the same. If you have a problem riding in the city then you shouldn't. The same thing would apply to older people who are nervous to drive.

The lane was standard width and there were no obstacles, therefore according to the law that you quoted yourself in the description, you should have been riding on the right.

It's illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk. Even though you may have a few nice cops who will turn a blind eye, a lot of them will write a citation for riding on the sidewalk. I've known people who have been cited for riding on the sidewalk. Bikers have to follow the same exact laws as cars do, and they have the same exact rights as cars do.

In Colorado, a law was passed recently that a motorized vehicle must give at least 3 feet of clearance when passing a bicyclist. Unless you're on a motor cycle, that means changing lanes.

I've noticed that, in general, the bigger the pickup, the bigger the asshole behind the wheel. Of all the harassment I've endured as a cyclist, easily 90% is from pickup trucks, and full ton crew cab and bigger are a disproportionate share of those. There can be three lanes available, and these jerks will give me ten inches of clearance when passing or honk and cut me off entirely. I've bee buzzed by an old lady in a Prius, but that's the exception, not the rule.

I Ride those street and thay get where i am going without incoviniences, with the occasional ashole reveing their emgine. @bigjim2521 I think you need to re-read the law, nothing states I need to allow passing. A driver must wait if they can't not meet the requirements of the law to pass. People have a perception of a huge danger which does not reflect reality. People who use the road understand it 's safer than the sidewalk. (faster also) The motorists are the danger, if using my freedom to get around is putting me in danger. (which there is) Then maybe we should try to reduce the danger, and not freedom.

@mcbodo If you cycle on the "FARRRR RIGHT" then idiots in cars pass FARRRR too close! there was not room in the lane for the guy in the Truck (suv) to pass the cyclist safely in the same lane. Cars need to give a minumum of a metre (3 foot) clearance, to a cyclist, to pass safely. The cyclist judged correctly that this could not occur and did what he could to prevent an unsafe overtake. Again, changing lanes is not hard.

@mcbodo I do know a thinkg about driving a car and riding a bike, I doubt you have ever ridden a bike on the road. If I was in the car, I would have simply LOOKED ahead (something some motorists apparently are incapable of), indicated and changed into one of the other lanes. Then passed without incident, the same as if there was a slow car in front. When I drive a car I have no problems whith cyclists because I can actually drive.

If the biker road on the side of the road in this video the guy in the enormous truck (sorry SUV) would have passed too close. I drive and I cycle, in fact in one of my jobs I drive for a living, and I am held up far more by cars then bikes, and that is a fact. Less cars = less traffic jams.
