@Klattu not only that but dirt gets behind them and then bleeds into the portawall turning it really yellow and never comes out.you can tell portawalls right away, shaving not so much especially if during the shaving, you are able to either grind of all of the lettering, not half of it or to grind up to it and not touch it cuz when you see half the lettering ground down its obvious.either way though, with shaving, you have to be up close to tell.the bug in my vid has portas and i couldnt stand them.
good idea>its so stupid that companies like coker charge such a rediculous amount of money for tires that we have to rely on making them ourselves.and i cant believe not one company has came out iwith whitewalls at a more resonable price.
Next time you have a old wornout white wall tire...cut it from bead to tread and roll it up and look at the cross section of the sidewall...it will tell you the whole story and you will understand all.
cool!

Why not just buy Port-a-walls?

Have you ever tried port-a-walls?
I have a set if you want to buy them.
They are terrible!
Only worked good on a 12" boat trailer.
On the 15" rim, they flapped in the wind and had wrinkles.
If someone made a set that was stiff and held close to tire, there would be a market for them.
But they are made from a soft rubber that squirms its way out from between tire and rim as you go down the road.

excuse me, stupid question: you just sand them till they get white?? is that it?? thx
fsayestaran 2 years ago
Not a stupid question...the white is about 1mm under a black layer.
But the white has a limit, it does not go all the way to the tread.
So you grind lightly until you find the outer edge, then you can grind only in the area needed.
Also...watch my other video...a little better example and discription

Car is running in reverse, so side I am on is moving up.
A little safer, legs don't get pulled under.
