Why you may ask? Its very simple, its the most hypocritical movie I've ever seen. Its also a typical Hollywood movie.
In this movie the only thing they do, is slaughter Germans as if ALL Germans were evil nazis! Imagine if a group of Germans dressed as American GI's were to go behind enemy lines and kill 'n scalp Americans? Just think of that.
Some of the dialouge is pretty good, but I end up feeling sorry for the Germans, since they are the most humane in this movie.

You have this group killing nazi over and over, any you just keep sending them to be killed? Why not send a couple of tanks, 200 soldiers or burn the breakin forest? why didn't the survivors draw pictures and the nazi distribute them in their ranks? They would have been identified in seconds.... I like a movie with some degree of rationality and this movie had none.

Melanie Laurent also absolutely blew me away. Even the actors with smaller roles brought it in a major way. Kruger gave the performance of her career so far, and Daniel Bruhl, August Diehl, and especially Michael Fassbender absolutely stole their scenes. I've never been much of a Tarantino fan, but this movie made me one. I'd say it's in my top 15 of all-time, even. At the end of the movie when Aldo said he just created his masterpiece, I couldn't help but think "you know what, Quentin? I agree"

I agree with carlyle. I really, really loved this movie. Although it did have it's minor problems and the talking scenes were sometimes too long, I still found this movie to be very good and I consider it one of Tarantino's best films.

I thought it was amazing. It really was one of the best films of the year. I understand many people being bored by the talking, but I thought that the dialogue was great. Conversations just build up tension. You'll find your self at the edge of the seat waiting for everything to go to hell. This a Better Than Sex!!! Not as good as Pulp Fiction which is in my top 10 favorite films, but this is really good.

In fact, the Basterds themselves were about the weakest element in this film. And Brad Pitt was the weakest actor of all in this movie. The dialogue was in many parts dragging along and lifeless. Christoph Waltz was the only actor who made this movie watchable.
This is one of Tarantino's worst films. And this film contained some of the worst, most stilted and faux dialogue of any Tarantino movie.
Without Waltz this would have been an outright boring movie.

for me ,it's a better than sex,Tarantino shared his movie experience via subtitles 'cause of his favorite movies are foreign like memories of murder,the host,the audition,you can focus more on the dialogue when you are reading the subtitles.for the people who doesn't appreciate this movie,'cause they hardly can comprehend all they ever thought of are violence and not the content then they should watch cheap hobo w/ a shotgun and other grindhouse movies.

i give this more some old bullshit for 5 reasons. 1: this movie is un realistic in every way possible. 2: barley any action. 3: alot of subtitles. 4: not that funny. 5: this move is nothing more than an insult to all the brave soldiers that died during ww2. for one thing (spoilers) american soldiers dont execute helpless prisoners. 2nd hans landa 2:34 kills a jewish family at the begining. kills the spy actress at 1:11 by choking her to death and he fuckin gets away with it? this movie is B.S.

Melanie Laurent also absolutely blew me away. Even the actors with smaller roles brought it in a major way. Kruger gave the performance of her career so far, and Daniel Bruhl, August Diehl, and especially Michael Fassbender absolutely stole their scenes. I've never been much of a Tarantino fan, but this movie made me one. I'd say it's in my top 15 of all-time, even. At the end of the movie when Aldo said he just created his masterpiece, I couldn't help but think "you know what, Quentin? I agree"

You guys are way off the mark on this one. It's funny: I avoided this movie for a year because I thought it WAS going to be the movie you guys apparently wanted it to be. But it was so much more than that, and that's what made this movie Better Than Sex. Also, I can't believe you guys singled out Pitt's performance. Other than Mike Myers, Pitt was absolutely the WORST actor in this ensemble. He was straight-up taken to town! Obviously Christoph delivered the performance of the year, but

I just rewatched this movie and im not some tarantino fan by any means (havent seen many of his films). But i loved this movie, the talking is actually interesting and the movie is great. My favourite scenes are when the nazis are "interrogating" people (in the bar, at the beginning, etc)

I agree with carlyle. I really, really loved this movie. Although it did have it's minor problems and the talking scenes were sometimes too long, I still found this movie to be very good and I consider it one of Tarantino's best films.

I thought it was amazing. It really was one of the best films of the year. I understand many people being bored by the talking, but I thought that the dialogue was great. Conversations just build up tension. You'll find your self at the edge of the seat waiting for everything to go to hell. This a Better Than Sex!!! Not as good as Pulp Fiction which is in my top 10 favorite films, but this is really good.

So when I took her to see 'the new Quentin film' I thought it would be a good place to start educating her tastes, and even though she had no idea who he was, she loved this film. She thought it was a masterpiece, so I completely disagree with what you said there.

Look at Death Proof, yes, maybe his worst film, but the dialogue in that movie is some good that it keeps the movie enjoyable and fun to watch. it seems like cyrus and carlyle are the only ones to really understand what quentin tarantino was going for in this film and im starting to think that theyre the only true movie lovers of the spill crew and the rest are more like general film public but still more knowledgeable than the general film public as well.

Hurt Locker was great too, but it fell way short at the end.... the end was cheesy and fell totally flat. Basterds has an AMAZING ending, and is so well done.
