  • I came back to watch this video again. George has really put it together quite well.

Here's something that I didn't know. I visited his website and found out that he's also one heck of a guitar player. Man, that guy can really play!

  • To answer your question Caseclosed77, that IS George as the green hypnotist in the beginning of the video, and I believe that the woman is his wife - very attractive I might add (Hey George, I mean that respectfully).

I own the DVD version of this video (it has all 7 segments) and absolutely love it. I play it in my workshops as the perfect explanation of hypnosis and its uses. I've heard that hypnotherapists around the world are using it for the same reason. It's available from IACT.

  • Great Video! I can't wait to watch the other segments.

  • I'm watching all 7 segments of the series and learning a lot.

BTW: Is that George playing the part of the green hypnotist in the beginning of this video?

  • Great info!

Franz Anton Mesmer was actually born Friedrich Anton Mesmer, but later changed his name. I liken his induction methods to those used in stage hypnosis today (flamboyant and dramatic). I was surprised by your omission of Milton Erickson, though.

I am a certified hypnotist, regression therapist, and on occasion, stage hypnotist.

  • Hi 18deadmonkeys,

This is part 1 of 7 from a DVD I created for IACT. I was limited to 30 min, so names were left out - Puysegur, Elliotson, Esdale, Charcot, Bernheim, Liebeault, Hull, Wolberg, Weitzenhoffer, Barber, Kroger, Van Pelt, Elman, Estabrooks, Hilgard, Orne, and others. Erickson is mentioned in part 2, as are the Spiegels. My main hypnosis mentor Gil Boyne is in part 7. More videos will come in the future that will include more of those above. Thanks for your encouraging feedback.

  • Great work! I'm a professional hypnotherapist, and this is one of the best explanations and presentations on the history of hypnosis that I've seen. Bravo George Bien! I can see why other hypnotists are so envious of you.

  • Your kind words are most appreciated hypnocharles. They help me feel that I'm adding value to the profession and to the world. I must add that I sure hope that other hypnotists are not envious. We should support and encourage each other to work for the common good of humanity. Thanks again.
