When I see Mazy Star in 1992 in Berlin, it was unbelievable. The band sit on the stage and nobody beside Hope moved. It was nearly dark, little spot to the stage, and the music sounds like a perfect recording. This was within the best concert, I´ve ever seen. But this - sorry, but I don´t think it is a song. The weakest I´ve ever heard form Hope. Now all the blinded can throw some mud on me, for doing this critic to your goddess. Nobody is perfect all the time, even Hope.

I think what helps give her voice a dreamy, moody, slightly otherworldly, psychedelic effect, is a subtle electronic echo effect she uses both in the studio & on stage. She`s already blessed with a beautifully emotive, sensual voice,but that slight echo adds a bit of extra magic & helps transport the listener to a pleasant other-world with Hope! I could happily live in that astral world!

Saw Hope in concert last week. It kills me to say this, but it was possibly the worst gig I have ever seen. Her voice was magnificent as always, but why she is wasting time with the Warm Inventions I will never know, they are second rate at best. Hope seemed as if she was in some kind of nasty mood as soon as she got on stage. She seemed disinterested the whole time. She yawned. She walked off stage after about 45 minutes and didn't return. it was just one big fuck you to the audience

Well, technically "For the Rest of Your Life" on her new CD is a reworking of an old Nina Simone cover performed by Mazzy Star on their last tour. Otherwise though she doesn't play Mazzy Star songs at her solo shows and she's not too happy when people request them...she wouldn't do them without David being there anyway.

However, I would like to see her do some covers. I'm going to her show in Milwaukee tonight and Chicago tomorrow so I'm hoping something new appears in the setlist.

I like Hope's post Mazzy work as much as her work in the band, "Around my smile" and "Bavarian Fruit Bread" are just as amazing as "Look on Down from the Bridge" and "Into Dust". Suki Ewers also came out with an album, the songs I heard were awesome, some very Mazzyesque others not so much.
