  • i can see you have done this for quite some time. hand tossing is the best way to make pizza. it turns out a nice crispy crust pizza. can you give me any tips for how to handle the dough before it gets to the hand tossed stage. i use 3 cups flour to one cup water and one pkg yeast. it turns out to be a nice dough ball but i dont know if i need to put it aside and let it rise or in the fridge for any length of time. can you tell me what the precise method is..

  • I work at Papa Johns too and I can say that washing your hands becomes second nature, for one the pizza is going in a 500 degree oven, and two we aren't touching anything but pizza the entire time :)

  • Last time I went to Papa John's.. We ordered 2 pizzas, and 3 boxes of wings.. They didnt give any sauce for the wing.. and the 1 of the pizza wasnt sliced... We were fishing at that time.. had to rip the pizza with our hands..

  • Is this job difficult? I got an interview, and they said they would call me. They told me I was mostly going to be on the phone talking to customers until I am 18 where I can legally touch the doe/ovens. Also doing that to the doe, would that make you sweat a lot?

I miss the creativity of making pizza. And surprisingly it kept me in shape because I busted my arse on a regular basis...

  • wow ok and also , other than you wasting dough, 1) banana peppers, jalapenos, and pepperoni go ON TOP of the cheese. second, you use more than 2 cups of cheese on the banana pepper pizza, unless it was extra cheese then ignore that, but that most likely wasn't the case since you're doing everything else wrong anyway

  • @KiMiix0x actually that's the way papa john's does it. They put the toppings under the cheese. I like it like that. I have to agree that was WAY too much cheese but like you already said that could have been how it was ordered.

  • nice spinning, how fast can you slap out larges onto a screen? my manager would do about 4 a minute.  he was so dope. i worked days with him sometimes and we'd get Microsoft orders around 9 for delivery at noon. he'd start slapping them out at 11 and i'd be out the door by 1145. granted, these were 25+ pies.

Gloves present a false sense of security in you food. ppl don't have to SEE the guy wash his hands anymore, I will not eat at places where the people where gloves. they hold just as many germs as hands and some times managers even get on to their emps for using to many from changing them when they realy should. and besides, have you ever tried to slap dough in gloves? Impossible almost. you put gloves in papajohns and they have to use as much FROZEN dough as the others, and thats gross.

  • when food is put in the oven all germs are destroyed, its a good idea to wear gloves when preparing cooked food such as making sandwiches.

  • You don't have to wear gloves. You only need to wear them if you have: a cut, nailpolish, or something else on your hands. The gloves cut into making the pizzas right.

  • When I worked at Papa John's in 1999 we weren't allowed to spin the dough. They told us it made for thin spots. Also, we always had to spread the cheese with two hands, never by sprinkling it directly from the cup. Of course, our manager was a coke-head ass.
