  • My favourite song from Stranglers. Oh how I love this band!

  • This is my theme song. Everywhere I go it plays and people look at me in awe, then, start to dance around 80s style.

  • Missed my train back to Shrewsbury from Euston station back in 87 and only had this song to keep me company all night untill the following morning while sitting on the platform! Great Stranglers Music

  • Misheard lyrics. Better watch out for the school day

  • @7878Roland I recall on my first few listening that I thought it was "Better watch out for the CITY"

That works too. That's all too true.

  • @2000toddowen i thought he said scoobies

  • May I recommend the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties Music' by Karl Vorderman. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • One of my alltime favorites,............what a great song!

  • beavis and butthead brought me here. this is awful lmfao

  • Ive always been a massive Stranglers fan since i 1st heard Rattus in 77,and I can honestly say I was fkn mortified when somebody at work told me that the chorus wasnt "Better watch out for the schoolies!!!"-Well,it WAS the Stranglers, and theyve never been afraid of a dogy lyric have they?...."Wot an old codger I am.....nowadays!! lol-Still a great song tho !

  • I work with a 20 something Indian named Sandeep (our IT guy, can you believe that?) and when he walks past I occasionally sing "better watch out for the sandeep" After a couple of years he still has no idea.

  • "Many people tell you that they're your friend

    You believe them

    You need them

For what's round the river bend

Make sure that you're recieving the signals they send

Cos brother, you've only got two hands to lend"

  • this is bullshit. wheres the film clip. its in my favotites,

  • Absolutely Brilliant song and group

  • A funky, atmospheric, endlessly catchy and intelligent song by a profoundly original band! Like Joe Jackson, Talk Talk, Bowie, one of those rare, wonderful bands who go wherever their muse leads them on their musical journey regardless of what's expected of them by label or fans. Much respect and love for these guys. Damn I love this tune! Thanks for sharing!

  • Ah....college radio before the word "alternative" was even concieved.

Surprised I can even remember this song, after all those many nights spent buzzing{literally} around town with WCNI {Connecticut College} radio on my Honda Civics tunebox.

  • ace song-ace sentiment!

  • I LOVE mp3iffy it WORKS just google mp3iffy.

  • as a dj in the eighties the talent and variety of music was fantastic and i cannot see it being better in the future.

  • @skiwijoe I was a dj back then also used to spin this track sometimes with Our Darkness Ann Clark or Love and Rockets Yin Yang >The 90's rave still good depending on tracks selected told a story then got predictable and even now :))but you know and i know that maybe... we are just getting jaded There is a lot of shit out there or maybe we are not getting the vibe of the new tracks even the Indie stuff of today tries to mimic the 80's underground but sometimes lacks conviction or is it me ?

  • The Stranglers and one of my favourites great memories cheers for posting

  • I used to listen to this on the Avondale High School, MI radio station when I was 15 or so. Better watch out for the Skin Deep.

  • The stranglers were light years ahead of their time and to be honest are still ahead of most of the junk being churned out today.

  • @Glorious80s : Why ahead ?

It is just fantastic music made in the eighties !

  • stranglers along with talking heads are in my opinionj the greatest bands of the last 40 years

  • Agree with you there Sid. Saw the Stranglers at an outdoor stadium where it poured buckets. The entire crowd danced madly and passed joints all around. It was like being at a mini-Woodstock :)

Also saw the Heads at the same location shortly before they broke up. What a fun band, so creative and silly, yet also serious and thoughtful.

  • song like this never fade away

  • Hearing this makes me sad that we gave all our vinyl away ...

  • Even worse than that is the fact I broke most of my fathers beatle lp's when I was a kid. Thought they made good frisbies. Doh!

  • Could have been even worse. You could have melted them on the car dashboard in summer. At least you had some fun :)

  • Top song in my past and present!

  • Use to think they were singing watch out for the Scoobies! lol

  • @Dannoga and me !!!!

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E

  • Am I the only one who has been compelled to create a playlist after listening to this song, Always The Sun, Ghost Train and such? How great the post-punk men in black were.

  • Gawd but I love youtube! What a total blast from my past. These guys opened my eyes - loved them since their first album!

  • The best thing about having an older brother is you get introduced to great music well beyond your years; Stranglers Skin Deep, enough said..!

  • geweldige kwaliteit, deze song kan over 100 jaar nog gedraaid worden, het gaat toch over tatoo's? :)

    bedankt voor de sharing.
