There was some kind of mix up with my google password and I can't upload to this account anymore. I have uploaded a number of guitar lesson videos on jdmguitar100
You may have me mixed up with another John Morgan (there are a lot of us running around:-) I haven't released anything with that title. Hope you are able to track it down.
There are a couple new videos that you can find by searching "The Morgan After". It's a bunch of folks who are part of a weekly jam session I coordinate.
I caught you playing this song last Sunday at the arts festival in downtown Columbus. This was either the last or second to last song and i was very impressed, to say the least, to hear this piece of work.
Very tasty song and technique. Heard this a few years ago and tried learning via TAB, and promptly gave up - as was too difficult.
Thought I'd have a go at trying to figure it out be ear a week ago. Am half way through, and my fingers are now nice and calloused (after blistering on day two!).
Hopefully I'll nail it, to a certain degree anyway, in the next week.
John, thanks for rekindling my interest in the geetar. Beautiful piece of music you got there.
Often I use a foot stool. It prevents having to twist slightly and seems to have some ergonomic benefits. In this position you are holding the guitar at four points while keeping your hands free to play.
Yes, I do feel blessed. I've been a Christian for many years and God has been very gracious in many ways. You may mean do I feel blessed with musical talent. I've found that most every one is musically blessed to some degree. A few people figure out how to spend enough time with their guitar to begin to understand how it works. The blessing is being able to put in the time and effort it takes to look like you don't have to practice:-)
Wow, nice video. I bought two of your albums, The Journey and Capture The Night and it is amazing work. I have a question for you. Do you feel blessed? I would, with the amount of talent you have. hehe.
Well let's don't worry too much about the age thing. If your Mom lived in a small Ohio town known as Gallipolis, I may be the guy. But there are a lot of John Morgan's running around:-)
Thanks. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The fellow who shot it has some really nice equipment. At that time he was experimenting with some new special effect (i.e. the cepia tone and scratched film effects). The setting is a barn built in the mid-1800's it's owned by a good friend. The part or the barn we shot in had been a chicken coupe many, many years ago. It was a fun shoot. I'm glad it didn't fall down before we finished:-)
Tab for "The Journey" as well as tab for several of my songs is available at www.morganguitar.com. Free, legal downloads of all the music from my second CD is available on the download page of that site.
Thanks. Each of those guys, plus Tommy Emmanuel and Pat Methey have been great sources of inspiration.

My dad has one of your cd's, and there's this one song "Can You Stay" that I absolutely love, yet I can't find it anywhere.

Excellent ... but then I suspect you already know that I love your music.

No problem. Always glad to hear someone enjoys my music, even if they've told me before:-)

John, again, great song. Question: Did you record the record version in a single take?
janektgreen 3 years ago
Glad you like it. The original was selected from several complete takes and then cleaned up with a bit of digital editing.

You have a lot of skill fingerplucking on that right hand. :) But I'm sure you know that.
Can't wait for your next music video!

John, I see you holding the guitar in almost a classical position without a footrest.
I have upper back problems when playing with the bout of the guitar placed on my right leg.
This is encouraging!
Thanks!

Excellently crafted video, and just love the song... very light and uplifting... like a journey I guess... ;)

strange. Maybe not the most well crafted song on paper, but it does translate into a great one to play and listen to. So, I vote -- Great.
