Who ever reads this comment please check out my channel. I just got a GoPro HD Hero 2 and i decided to make a channel showcasing my work. So have a look at my videos, and let me know what you think. Subscribe too!
I just bought one of these and what I do to upload to youtube is put it on my desktop from iphoto then edit using Imovie, convert to quicktime and then upload. THE QUALITY IS NOT AS GOOD AS THIS. PLEASE RESPOND, what can I do to improve quality?!?!?!
Its been slowed down using Twixtor. The reason that the ground is going all weird is because the camera is being moved. If its on a tripod then it reduces the amount of warped-ness of the shots.
if the cam doesn't shoot at 2000 fps, then wow did you get to that? editing wouldn't even do that. nice tricks, but terrible video in overall. change the title..
@lukey597 I don't think its anything special, i believe its a vingette effect with cranked saturation and video contrast. program is final cut pro . (once again i did not edit so i am assuming)
@SnowboardEdits It looks "cool" however the program uses compression and pixel grouping to ADD frames that were never there to begin with. This explains the weird shifting of pixels in the frame. I say thumbs way down.
I honestly don't get all the "wow, sick video dude," "badass," etc. Anyone that knows anything about the most basic video technology will immediately recognize that this was NOT shot at 2,000 FPS. First of all, when video is shot at a particular frame rate, the ENTIRE frame is recorded at that rate...not just the objects in relative motion. The artifacts and strange looking portion surrounding the snowboarder is caused from a really poor job of software based frame rate manipulation. It appear
@Papasmerfer Honestly, I love the last part....snowboards are crazy, may as well show it in the video....great video...way to show love for the sport and friends...this is what snowboarding is about......Especially with some Marley style music....Relax, Live, and Laugh
@shaneburton100 its just from the program. It tracks whatever is moving and sometimes makes that weird distortion when there is a lot of things going on the frame.
@shaneburton100 the camera is filming in too low FPS, so and the editing software is using blend mode between each frame, so it isn't realy ideal to do this sort of slow motion while moving so fast.
@shaneburton100 Helmet cams, both Contour and GoPro, currently can only film up to 60 fps. So for true slow motion, you can only go as slow has half speed (when viewing at 30 fps on youtube.) Anything beyond that, a editing program must create new frames to slow down even more. Doing it once produces good results, so 0.25x speed. Once you start creating frames between created frames, details start jumping around, like the ground in this instance. Best to film against plain background.
Very cool footage. The artifacts that the processing software put in there are a little distracting though. I couldn't figure out what the heck was happening with the snow until I read some comments :(
To avoid Warp'ing (as it is called when you get that weird blur around the moving objects) when using Twixtor is to get a onecoulered background, and keep the camera still. If for example the person is doing a jump make sure that you get the boarder in the sky.
@TheVikingShredder This video isn't in 2000fps. It's in 30 or 60, then After Effects was used to create additional frames in between the real frames, but it causes some distortion, like in the snow.
@JonasTheSniper actually @SnowboardEdits probably used twixtor, as ae's frame blending is much worse than what we are seeing here. twixtor is much, much better at frame estimation and produces some pretty good quality stuff.
so u were the kid screaming when i went down the hill lol

lukey597 2 months ago
@SnowboardEdits On the camera did you have it on the Action mode so it was 720p? for the 60fps for the slow motion?
lukey597 2 months ago
Dude, Did you use final cut to put it in slow mo, or is it a FPS setting on the contour??
HAAM111 2 months ago
@HAAM111 the contour does either 1280x720 @ 60fps or 1920x1080 @ 30fps. This is optical flow in the motion part of final cut. (not regular slow mo)

@HAAM111 He probably used twixor. Twixor can get your 60 or 25fps camera to be 2000 fps. You can download the add-on at Twixor.com
kriskk007 2 months ago
@kriskk007 Ok, how do i use the add on, does it work with i movie or do i have to use like sony vegas or after effects or final cut?
HAAM111 2 months ago
@HAAM111 i don't know if it works on i movie, but i know it work on final cut, vegas and after effects. Read it at TWIXOR.COM :)
