All of you people in the this-is-not-true-martial-arts crowd are totally missing the point. This demonstration is meant to be artistic and display the level of dexterity that he is capable of. He has combat moves in his repertoire, but they're quick, easy to miss, and probably doesn't impress in this sort of performance.
Kid's damn good... unfortunately he seems to be going for flashy rather than proper nunchuku technique. I would love to see him performing a proper kata.

Inmates went to outside hospital I returned home unharmed at the end of my shift. Question. Has this kid ever been in a real fight? Have you ever observed 2 inmates fighting? Vicious animals trying to kill each other is the best description I can give. Train for real and stay alive.

For all you wannabe martial arts experts and keyboard warriors, this kid is doing a demonstration. Do you really think any respectable martial artist will use the same moves and techniques in a real fight? There is two completely separate movesets for martial artists, the demonstration and the practical. Showing mastery over your demonstration moveset shows the level of control and intensity/power you have in your basics and apply it into a well-coordinated chain of moves.
ive been playing with these for a LONG time and YES they can be effective but by using two you are lossing much of your control but its very flashy. they are very easily concealableand and quick. i would recomend using one nunchaku in a fight

Actually in some ways I agree with IEKUKATAKA, the way he's using the chunchakus is more for demoing. Most of the fancy techniques of any martial arts is usually not that effective, it looks flashy, but not effective. You know what I mean? There are only quite a few techniques that were meant to be really effective. Of course, I'm only saying it as if this boy was going into combat.

the type of Nunchaku that Matt Emig uses is called G-Force Nunchaku they're about $38.00 to $65.00 for a set of two and in my opinion Matt Emig does too much gymnastic -wanna be martial arts routine during his nunchaku performance and not enough nunchaku routine,and when he does nunchaku moves,all he does is extremely fast figure 8 spins.....i've seen Matt Emig only ONCE recently do any type of catch/release techniques, hand rolls, thumb rolls,etc I'd actually like to even see him try hand offs

I know many very traditional martial artist that have studied under Ed Parker. They love watching XMA. And why not? Its fun, is a good work out, and works your control. Pratical? No but its fun. Times change and progress. That is one reason why Bruce Lee was so good, he was able to modernize his martial arts.
First and foremost, since Matt Emig was born in 1987 and Ed Parker died in 1990 he couldn't have studied under him much...secondly I've spent 26 years of my life studying several disciplines of the Martial Arts, Kung-Fu, Animal System, Ninjutsu, Tae Kwon Do and Vovinam, just to name a few and these techniques Matt Emig performs is just too inpractical, his Nunchaku routines for one is mostly gymnastic routine with martial arts wanna be techniques in there,but even that has no real implications.
Where did I say Emig studied under Mr. Parker? I said I know many who have. I have never met Emig. And I also said it is not practical. Did you even read my post? Just becuase it is not practical doesnt mean it is not considered a good martial arts performance. Key word, performance. Obviously you wouldn't use this in a fight. You should check out some of his new stuff like from 08 and 09. Sadly he broke his leg in the summer of 09 but he is on his way back. But is considered one of the worlds best in chucks.

Actually in some ways I agree with IEKUKATAKA, the way he's using the chunchakus is more for demoing. Most of the fancy techniques of any martial arts is usually not that effective, it looks flashy, but not effective. You know what I mean? There are only quite a few techniques that were meant to be really effective. Of course, I'm only saying it as if this boy was going into combat.

the type of Nunchaku that Matt Emig uses is called G-Force Nunchaku they're about $38.00 to $65.00 for a set of two and in my opinion Matt Emig does too much gymnastic -wanna be martial arts routine during his nunchaku performance and not enough nunchaku routine,and when he does nunchaku moves,all he does is extremely fast figure 8 spins.....i've seen Matt Emig only ONCE recently do any type of catch/release techniques, hand rolls, thumb rolls,etc I'd actually like to even see him try hand offs

I know many very traditional martial artist that have studied under Ed Parker. They love watching XMA. And why not? Its fun, is a good work out, and works your control. Pratical? No but its fun. Times change and progress. That is one reason why Bruce Lee was so good, he was able to modernize his martial arts.

First and foremost, since Matt Emig was born in 1987 and Ed Parker died in 1990 he couldn't have studied under him much...secondly I've spent 26 years of my life studying several disciplines of the Martial Arts, Kung-Fu, Animal System, Ninjutsu, Tae Kwon Do and Vovinam, just to name a few and these techniques Matt Emig performs is just too inpractical, his Nunchaku routines for one is mostly gymnastic routine with martial arts wanna be techniques in there,but even that has no real implications.

Where did I say Emig studied under Mr. Parker? I said I know many who have. I have never met Emig. And I also said it is not practical. Did you even read my post? Just becuase it is not practical doesnt mean it is not considered a good martial arts performance. Key word, performance. Obviously you wouldn't use this in a fight. For studying 26 years, you are kinda dumb.

You should check out some of his new stuff like from 08 and 09. Sadly he broke his leg in the summer of 09 but he is on his way back. But is considered one of the worlds best in chucks.
