  • I've noticed that you should clap small parts like that one in the vice and have the narrow edge faceing up and use the end of the mill to clean it up. The way you clamped it up was very dangerous be cause it was pinched on one side of the vice and try to avoid climb milling undell if you have back lash arrestors. to give you an idea for speed and good finish try 1/2" 4 flute for steel from 500-750 and aluminum from 750 - 1500 been in the trade for years. too fast on the spindle speed. have fun.

  • did your figure this problem out?

  • is your mill trammed? Maybe an un-trammed mill can "lap" texture from a weird angle.

  • Thanks. Can you explain your homemade nuts? Sounds interesting.

  • Nice setup and shop! Regard the poor finish, do not use slot mill for side milling.Try with 4 flute mill.I got BF20 for about 2 years and i replaced steel nuts on both table axis with homemade POLYAMIDE 80 (polyamide + molybdenum) nuts.Finish improved a lot,i saved my acme screws from wear and after 1 year of using play in the nut/screw assembly is still about 0.08 mm.

Once again, good work and videos (drawbar is my favorite !)
