  • What are everyones feelings on associates degrees in graphics design..

  • great info. thanks! :)

  • Everyone should try redbubble, I was there for a while, you can put your designs on T-shirts, Greeting cards, iPhone cases, and maybe I'm missing something. It's really cool.

  • Hey man I'm a new sub and love the videos! I just wanted to add that I've got a lot of work from Coroflot. May wanna check it out..

  • I do graphic design as we'll but my passion is drawing. I love drawing on my Wacom or paper and was wondering if u sketch, draw, paint, whatever. If so can u make a video of our sketchbook please.

  • Great job david! thats how i started and am now hired by a company

  • david, im 14 but i want to do what you do, youtube and graphic designs im taking art and graphic design. You are my role model <3 thxs for the advice and videos:!

  • Wow david..I've known your vids ever since the first iphone came out which you showed with your dad, and you were starting college.. man where has time been flying by lol

  • Was in mcgarveys class with u. Love the vids.

  • I already made 8 bucks on Fiverr! Thanks @thecreativeone!

  • @snapstrax they offer emphasis in web design, photography, design management and studio art. I'm more into studio art than anything..I love everything from drawing to sculpting..I also love graphic design and I just know I have a better chance at making a decent living than just owing my own studio. I just thought that maybe the emphasis in studio art would take me more that way of working in a studio but still have the skills as a graphic designer. thanks for the help though

  • Hey David! Thanks for answering my question... If you want, you can put my Twitter Link... Thanks :) Twitter : Dylan4Tech

  • Im actually thinking of majoring in this in college. any advice?

  • David, you should move to the Bay Area. Thats where I live :) . It really is a great area to find a graphic design job. Hint "The Silicon Valley". All the tech jobs are here and they have great weather, great people and you feel like you are apart of the tech culture.

  • Thank you, David! This video helped a lot!

  • Thank you so much for this video. Fiverr really looks interesting.

  • @jeroenvzeijl Did you even watch the whole video or listen to anything?

  • * A personal website x)

  • AND get like a website on which you sell yourself and post some of your work :)

  • Also oDesk is good.

  • digitalpoint is also good for getting started.

  • 99Designs is also a great website... it runs graphic design contests that you can enter.

  • This is nothing to do with graphic design but university in the UK in general. I got a 2:1 in music production and still can't find a job in music, yes it's a tough industry to get into like graphics but getting a degree isn't always the answer. I learned more from spending all my spare cash turning my bedroom into a recording studio and practicing and getting things sounding right, all university did was give me a huge debt with little prospect, I have a FT job as a roadie but it's not the same

  • @thecreativeone

Im thinking about going to university and doing graphic design.

    What subjects do I need?

  • I'm graduated in visual communication from a College in Switzerland. I love this job and I've learned so much but...it's a nightmare to work. The market is saturated, plus - at least here - people think design is easy and quick: no one realizes how much work goes into a project!

  • David you should share your work with us, make some logos, do some tutorials.

  • I'm slightly interested in graphic design but it does take a bit of time to start up!

  • Wow this really sparked my interest!

  • Great video, was thinking about trying to get into graphic design myself but already in my second year of university doing coding/programming :/ fml.

  • Thanks a ton David, I'll make sure to check out fiverr tomorrow! Graphic design along with programming and audio are things that I'm really looking to get into.

  • I'm a graphic designer major but I haven't gotten into the meat of the program yet and my adviser recommended a double major. He suggested creative writing since that was my major before I transfer but I just wanted to see what you would do?

  • I do freelancing and I think it's a really good experience working in the field. My website is in my channel if anyone is interested in visiting my website. Also, at least DavidDiFranco is making some cash. That's never a bad thing. I'm curious though. Is the Adfor5 a monthly payment or 1 time only?

  • @IAmMrVal your site is great

  • this has been a commutation for a long time people they are video games i play them we all have are needs ok xbox360 is amazing the graphics and every thing but if you have a need for watching movies then you would by a ps3 it have both gaming and blue ray.....if you are buying a consol for gameing you would buy a xbox360 the live costs money but thats is the players choice it has good graphics ok thats the difrence we dont need to fight and piss people off david i love yur videos dont fight

  • How much money doyou m ake a year? And from what

  • in the IT Academy at my high school, Graphic Design was by far the most fun thing I did

  • @bradjkirwan Go on his website and look at his portfolio. Somehow though, it's stuff that you learn in like basics computer design in a high school class. I mean, I went to college for economics but I took 3 years of computer design in high school and I learned cooler stuff than what he's shown there

  • @inetusgaming My graphic design portfolio is very outdated. If you want a better idea of design style, refer to graphics on my channel throughout time.

  • WHO the Heck is disliking these videos

  • No offense but you seem like the type of "designer" who starts and finishes a logo in Photoshop. People like you and crowd sourcing are devaluing the trade.

  • ARE U GONNA MAKE A CHRISTMAS 2011

  • that's what I was thinking..thanks for the help!

  • creativeallies and 99designs are up there....

  • Comment removed

  • @bradjkirwan he's 25?

  • @Everything4Tech Pretty sure.

  • @bradjkirwan i was thinking 19

  • room tour pls

  • Dave I forgot to ask you, how do you start a graphics design portfolio if you've never had a client and are just starting out. It's hard for me to think of any ideas to make? Thank you so much.

  • Your audio sounds a bit flat and distant. What did you record it with?

  • hows the taxes lol?

  • @Imappleboy Now that I have an accountant, things aren't too bad. It's definitely been a learning experience, though.

  • @thecreativeone dam i though yu could get alway with taxes lol

  • @goodgames I'm using the word "jobs" in a general sense, such as looking for an actual career or individual gigs.

  • Is that what you're pursuing, David?

  • guys, when he says bills, he means like his 3g bills for his iphone and ipad, also he means for his subscriptions to fourspace and things like that.

  • David! what do you think of the youtube redesign?

  • Sic Parvis Magna - Greatness from small beginnings.

  • David can you do a desk tour (I know you did one on Spring, but I can see you moved your desk, and if you moved something else on the desk, please do a desk tour, only a desk tour), nice videos an tips!

  • I never saw that Aero hoodie before. I like it!

  • I love these Q&A videos! As well as the Christmas ones!

  • you pay your parents bills?

  • @ksarkis12 i think he means phone bill's, and products he buys. And even so if he did pay his parents bills which he probably doesn't it would be a nice gesture.

  • @ksarkis12 Like most adults, I pay my own bills. ;)

  • Seems like a hot job right now. Probably wouldn't go into that field myself because so many people do but it would be a fun job

  • @mrelclark94 Sadly, many people simply suck at it too. They may be able to make some impressive stuff in Photoshop and Illustrator and whatever, but they don't understand WHY things are done in certain ways or the reasons behind things being as they are. I see a lot of people overloading with effects while totally ignoring typography, which just lets the entire thing down because the font doesn't fit, or the kerning and so on is messed up. These guys seem to get more work though lol. Dunno how.

  • I'm a busy graphic designer. There seems to be work out there if you have experience but very little work for Graduates, so try anything to at least get some experience to get yourself going.

  • I am loving these Q&A videos. Dave I am interested in graphic design work as well do you think it's fair as to say to look for graphic design jobs even if you don't have a degree in it? I understand that having a degree looks better to the client but if you've learned on your own through online websites and books would it be harder? Thanks.

  • @daniel151994 Sure, having a degree certainly helps. However, I wouldn't say it's required if you primarily work in freelance.

  • please do more christmas videos

  • thanks for the tips on finding online jobs man i actually just got my degree in graphic design and i will be going back to school for more education in webdesign.

  • Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance is a must have first read.

  • Hey David, I am currently about to be majoring in Graphic Design at my university. I noticed that they offer many emphasis alongside the major..one that stuck out to me was an emphasis in studio art..I was wondering if you knew what kind of job field that would lead me to..I love studio art but I also love Graphic Design so I thought this would be a perfect balance between the too..thanks for the help.

  • @applelife0800 That's hard to say; possibly freelance? I wasn't too involved in studio art, so I am not entirely sure. I did find it interesting, though!

  • @applelife0800 I too am a graphic design major. They offer emphasis alongside the major like what? At my university I am a Studio Art Major and I've chosen the Graphic Design option. I think of myself as a non traditional artist because I hate drawing and all that stuff. As a graphic design major we have to take drawing classes and sculpture and printmaking and ceramics and I guess that's why they call it studio art. Because we're in the studio for 3 hour blocks. Studio Art?

  • Hey David! Thanks for answering my question...

  • everyone wants to be a graphic designer

  • Nice

  • I mean 100th

  • Wow 3rd and 109th view lol

  • Oh wow, 2nd comment -- Great video David! :D this video helped me out

  • Great video! Birthday was Saturday Shoutout?
