  • KCIR man, brings back some memories.Aren't the Kc Royals and Chiefs and the drag strip technically in independence?

  • @JacobbrianS I believe that is correct. Was really sad to see KCIR closed and demolished though.

  • @HenryInKC that sucks, that was the first place i actuall raced at in 2006 when i lived up there. Last i had seen before i went home in early 07 they were expanding and remodeling, what happened?

  • @JacobbrianS Some rich people moved next to the track, then complained about the noise, so they paid off crooked city officials to have the track shutdown and bulldozed and will not let another drag strip be opened.

  • @HenryInKC Always some asshole smdh

  • The Caprice Ate The Stang.

  • Thank you! It was a great running LS1 for being stock. Dyno'd 323 hp to the tire, bu I also agree the stall probably helped as well.

  • man that's pretty good for a stock ls1. Bet that torque converter really helps though

  • At the time of that run I had a TH350 with a 3600 or 3800 stall converter.

  • what transmission you have in that caprice?

  • nice! looks like my caprice i have a78' two door as well being restored, gonna have a 383 in mine i would love to make it a manual transmission it's got a th350 in it now.

  • @MrVideoman44 It sounds like it will be a nice set up!

  • My first car was a 78 Caprice Coupe. It sure didnt run like that.

  • @zorak1704 I hear ya, mine only ran mid 15's back when it had the stock 170hp 350 V8 in it.

  • i love those cars but i hate the back window haha

  • I have an '85 Caprice 4 door and I am looking to do an LS engine swap in the car. Trying to find more information on completing the task. I know you have to buy the plates to use the older style motor mounts but I dont know about oil pan clearances and etc. My '85 has the computer for the ESC and I was looking at speartech to redo the factor LS harness and keep it EFI. I would appreciate any information you can give that would help.

  • @chevychase84 Swapping an LS1 into a Caprice is actually easier then you may think.

I normally have a friend named Anthony (Username: aknovaman on ls1tech. com/forums) do most of the wrenching or tuning I need done on my car, so he would probably be much more knowledgeable as well as more qualified to correctly answer your questions.

  • How well did the hedman headers fit? What body style were they made for? Also what oil pan did you use?

  • @mack2642 The headers fit really well, and were for a 1998 F-Body. The oil pan used was the stock LS1 F-Body pan, with the crossmember on the car notched for clearance.

  • WHERE CAN I FIND AN LS1 LIKE URS

  • @mwd92

LS1's are available all over the place now. Mine is from a wrecked 1998 Pontiac Trans Am for example. Car websites such as LS1Tech.com is a great places to start.

  • @HenryInKC how much do they usally cost

  • @mwd92 Depends on mileage and how complete you get them. I have seen LS1, and other LSX type motors starting at around $500 up to $2500.

  • Thank you! I believe the stall is around a 3500 or so, and the rear end is a 3:73.

  • That there my friend is fucking bad ass!! I'm doing the same swap on a 69 chevelle only thing different I'm going 6 speed, hopefully it's as quick as yours.

  • Thank you greatly and keep me posted on your build, I would love to see a video at the track when you get it done.

  • still runs awesome man i would sell my camaro for this! whats the exhaust setup?

  • Thanks man! The exhaust are the cheapest Hedman headers I could find from summit for a LS1 going to 2.5 inch H-pipe and into some 40 series Flowmasters that dump at the rear axle, but for the 12.7 run I had the dual electric cutuouts open so it was a lil louder. =)

  • granny cars ROCK! especially this one, RMVB on that 350?

  • I wish. Unfortunately its just a cheapy TH350 with a shift kit that I shift manually since the detent is not hooked up.

  • wow and now seeing this video you REALLY got me wanting to know what setup you're running.. it'd be greatly appreciated if you could get back to me on that. thanks man

  • Thanks! Its just a stock LS1 backed by a TH350 (stalled) tranny, 3:73 posi and some M/T DR's.

  • ahhh ok i see. thanks for the info man! now that i know it's that easy I think Im gonna let the Cobra go and start an LS1 Caprice project muahaha.

  • Thanks! Its always good to meet another LS1Tech member (especially one that can appreciate a ol' granny car like mine lol).

  • Love your car! Greetings from LS1tech!
