ah actually sleepless beauty is not by iceman. It's actually by a band called "the Seeker", though Ken (that's our beloved redheaded guitarist) is in the line up so it's an honest mistake! I just have to say I think it's awesome and incredible that we DA Family fans have enough maturity and respect to not bitch at each other about differing opinions. :D
In my opinion, access is awesome. I think Hiro could do better as a vocalist but I also think he has talent. Soloists have it hard; it takes talent and guts to pull it off. *is an ensemble member who fails at solos xD* He's been improving. I think access deserves their popularity; they make great music.
From a seasoned fan's point of view I think that Iceman didn't work because if I'm not mistaken, he hired Ken and Rin join him while he toured unlike his usual process. It wasn't until later that Daisuke grew friendly with Ken and allowed Iceman to be a group rather than just a solo project with two random men thrown in to the mix.
AXS are faves mostly due to fan loyality; DA trusts Hiro which is rare for him. It's basically just 2 friends kidding around.
I like Scarecrow a lot, but everything was just so much better with DA on board. I just miss his part in the songs so much. He is just a musical master!

Well I reckon they did well on stage, but as a band they lacked the synergy that a group needs to function as a lasting unit. Ultimately it's what broke them up, aside from DA's pricky nature.
As for Hiro, no he's not the best, but the reason Access are such fan-favourites among DA fans is basically because Hiro was DA's first and favourite person to work with. The fact that the duo have more doujinshi written about them than most bands have fans helps, too.

The three of them as individuals on stage were great, but united as a band they didn't really meld properly like a group needs to, I think.
