My Pentium 4 641 went to about 4.3 GHz with air cooling (and Arctic silver 5), I think i got to 4.3 ghz probably because of the 65nm fabrication instead of your 90 nm fabrication, I have an AMD rig now :D
also cant get sound drivers for OS X86 on this board. if your looking at this and thinking about buying one of these just get an asus or gigabyte board instead
Don't get a board with an nForce chipset to run OS X86.... that's just obviously asking for trouble.... The manufacturer has nothing to do with the chipset selection....
I think it was built really nicely.... the documentation wasn't that great, but the feature set was great.... it's also very overclockable considering that it has onboard video!!!
these boards are "ok" for over clocking Asus has always had the best boards for overclocking. I have the xfx mg-63mi-7159 and it sucks at overclocking can barely get it to post past 3ghz and I have a q6600 and using a dedicated graphics card. should be able to hit at leats 3.4ghz before I start running into problems but all in all is an "ok" board. still buying an asus board and using this one as a Frisbee
I thought the board was a great overclocker for the CPU i threw at it..... however, your memory, video card, and CPU play a very big role in the stability of your system when increasing the front side bus..... the most reliable way to overclock for me has been to leave memory at stock values or below if possible, and then increase CPU voltage + FSB frequency until limits are reached.... then cut back a bit for a good safety margin..
would a xfx 630i motherboard with an xfx 9600gt play gears of war on max at 1024x768 and 1280x800(flat screen tv is 1024x768) usin tv until i get a monitor
i'll see if i can chege this mobo cause i bought it with a intel mobo so no oc. i'll see if i can get an asus one, and see if it can reach 3.8ghz or why not, 4GHz
lol i recently fried my q6600, so i put in my old p4 630 the same in the vid and im posting as we speak at 4.5ghz 300x15, didnt know this shit can go so high lol, i have a rampage formula with 4gb pc2-8500 with a 4870x2 pumping the vid ill post some 3dmark scores with this cpu, ill see if i can beat my q6600, which i doubt. had that bitch at 3.6ghz all day!!! and if ur wondering im running thermaltake big water 750 with swiftech plates on the cpu and nb its at 40c on load
Is it just me or is this nothing special?...I post this as I have the exact same core at a stable 4.2GHz on air and can push to 4.7GHz to show off and then tone it down again.
and running smooth(1016 mhz NB FSB/ 845 mhz ddr2 ram 667 OC'd), i tryed 3.7ghz but i get random restarts, so im good at 3.5. my games got a big speed boost. All i need now is to get a 485 watt(28 amp x 2 12 volt rails)psu ,a 9600 gt, and im oc'n that too.
Sweet i'm thinking of buying this motherboard for my old celeron D computer (i don't got much money hehe) is this a good choice because my old motherboard is stuck and this one seems a got choice.
w12ardx,,yeah too fucking bad AMD cant hold a candle to intel,,i use to be AMD fan !but those days are long gone!the fucking best AMD cant even match intels bottom line quad!, no need to mention models and numbers anybody with 1/3 of a brain knows!yeah even a caveman!
heh, intel may be better now, but i'll stay to the company's i know well, like geforce, i never buy an ati card :P i hope when octacore comes that AMD will be the one that sells it first, overclocking is cooler with amd, i overclocked my athlon xp x2 5000+ from 2,6 ghz to 3,4 ghz with a stock cooler! roflol!
but anyway, the only difference between intel and amd is actually the locked multiplier i think o.O

What did you increase the FSB to? I have brought my
Prescott P4 HTT 630 3.00GHz(2 CPUs),~3.60GHz
took my FSB from 200MHz to 240MHz

its 1 cpu not 2.
bongman4ghz 3 years ago
I know, but it makes the computer think it has 2 CPU's, b/c it has HyperThreading.
Airportchris2 3 years ago
no it makes you think you have two.
did you know hyper threading was created to make the core chips.
bongman4ghz 3 years ago
lol, I have a P4 with HyperThreading, I know what it does, the CPU with HTT may only have 1 physical core, but the computer see's it as 2 processors.
Airportchris2 3 years ago
yeah i know.
but it was created to fool idiots with these new core 2 duo chips.
bongman4ghz 3 years ago
lol, I am not sure I follow you.
Airportchris2 3 years ago
to fool idiots? so two cores, or two hyperthreaded cores working indipendently to double performance is fooling idiots? noob.

overclocking can only go so far...why don't you guys try building a beowolf cluster and benchmarking that with SuperPi or something.
mao12345 3 years ago
because non-scientific applications don't run well or at all on Beowulf clusters.
