Morale of the story. Save your money and carry a 4" bladed knife. lol

  • @Aryangod40 Dude, you cannot carry a weapon at all times, additionally there are situations were you would not want to use it right away (for example cops when capturing someone). Martial arts teach weapon defenses that can be used against untrained individual.

  • mabie machida could have used this against jones

  • I would love to see Marcel Garcia abuse Ryron and Rener Gracie, and i know he would easily. Garcia has been abusing current ADCC competitors like nothing. He would have an easy time walking through these 2 Gracie brothers. Not that they are easy competition, but we're talking about Marcelo Garcia here.

  • @kanguesso Oh common, stop trolling around if you are not going to say anything objective the Shut your fucking mouth.

  • @IamVeryFrozen I can say anything i want. YouTube is a forum where people express their opinions freely. You don't like my opinion? TOO FUCKING BAD!

  • @kanguesso Dude the point is nobody cares. Nobody cares about your completely biased opinion. Hating on the Gracies is not a justification for pointless comments. Unless you show evidence, nobody will believe you. So shut up.

  • @IamVeryFrozen Nobody cares but yet you keep replying back to me again and again which just shows THAT YOU CARE enough to respond.

  • Best advise you gave guys is to move opposite site to the choke..watched this video long time ago..Last night got my neck caught in a street fight with a punk.He was going to Guillotine choke me but now he has 11 stitches on back of his head!!!Remembered this video and came back to say "Thank you"!! !!

  • @desertir80 Stitches in his head? You meant you have his semen still dripping...yes, dripping out of your ass. In a street fight, hands attack testicles and opponent forgets all about choking you.

  • @Deathwhisperer42 If you are in control of them, they are not going to be able to utilize eye pokes and groin strikes. This has been tested. There are videos of Royce Gracie street fighting where people try biting, groin strikes, and eye pokes. You will not be able to stop a Jiu Jitsu expert. If anything, these "street rules" the jiu jitsu master can use against you if he so chooses from a dominate position. So your argument is useless.

  • @IBJ57 Dude, Royce personally promoted me all the way to "purple 1." I have a few thousand hours of mat time and 2 national wins at Rickson's UCLA tournaments. Come to the Torrance gym and I'll give you a private showing you a few dirty moves that the Gracie's can't respond to effectively. (I'm wasting my time because you're a "knowitall")

  • I am trying to find out why should i take the fight to the ground when i can defend standing. The principles described r good but the whole approach to me is wrong. There are much more efficient ways to defend

  • @andyzoi This is the most efficient way. Why not take it to the ground? That is the best place to be unless there are multiple attackers. From there size and strength do not matter anymore. You cannot defend standing when your opponent is larger. "The world is not ready for the ground but we are" Ryron Gracie.

  • @IamVeryFrozen I know martial artists who defended successfully from larger attackers. BJJ way is not the only way. The deference between "arts" and "techniques" like "do" and "jutsu" is not whether u go to the ground or not but whether what you do is an expression of the soul or just a collection of techniques. There are many reasons why traditional martial artists prefer standing fight. It's a matter of strategy. BJJ however does have some smart answers

  • @andyzoi I am not saying it is impossible, but that it easier from the ground. All leverage based techniques will subdue a larger, stronger attacker whether it is standing up or from the ground. The difference is that height and weight will have a huge influence in stand up fighting, in the ground it does not. The issue is that by using explosive movements such as strikes you are using lots of energy. While leverage techniques preserve it and cause your opponent to exhaust.

  • @IamVeryFrozen What u say is true from one point of view. most "traditional" martial artists today have forgotten how to practice in case of larger opponents. Most practice for sport competition. If u check krav maga for ex u will see very few cases of ground fighting and the goal is always to get back on your feet.quickly. If u also check army combat manuals of second world war for the british commandos written by cpt.Fairburn (i think i spelled it properly) u will see almost

  • @IamVeryFrozen no ground fighting. His opinion was "we never go to the ground in war". Also note that he studied Jujutsu in Japan for many years and he had more than 500 strretfights because he was in military security in China. Also Morihei Ueshiba of Aikido. Used his skills against many deadly opponents in China without going to the ground. Last you can check the reports of the Japanese newspapers when karate first came to Japan.

  • @andyzoi Ok, as long as they are leverage based techniques I am cool, however I prefer the ground since there are much more options from there and it is easier to win since you can control his movements from positions like the mount and side mount and make finishes easier. From stand up these techniques must use pain to limit his movement, because he can always run, or you can use throws. Strikes must be accurate and efficient, always trying to conserve your energy.

  • @IamVeryFrozen It's all a matter of strategy. BJJ does have some good answers in ground fighting. To tell u the truth i studied submission grappling and i find BJJ very interesting. However i do believe that most techniques have to be modified if ones strategy is not to go to the ground as the first option. However if i wanted to study ground techniques in greater depth i would go to Judo and especially Kosen Judo. I also studied TKD, NInjutsu which is basically anchient Jujutsu and Shorin Ryu.

  • @IamVeryFrozen Have you fought on concrete, around curbs, in places where chairs can be picked up, bottles broken and used to stab with? I was a loud mouth jujitsu dude with 2 national wins and have 2 nasty gashes in my back...stabbed while mounted and casually choking out a guy being a dick.

Stay off the ground! Read about champion wrestler, Dusty Harless...murdered. ht tp: / /ww w.victimsofthestate.o rg/CA/Genzler.htm

  • @IamVeryFrozen There were challenge matches between Karate and Jujutsu masters. Jujutsu lost completely, but those days were different. Karate was practiced differently. There is also an old report on japanese newspaper about two judokas fighting a gang of about 15 members. The two judokas threw 2-3 attackers and won the rest of the fight by using strikes, but this was a different Judo back then. You can check out Mifune sensei in youtube to understand the difference

  • @IamVeryFrozen Size and strength don't matter??? Dude, stfu. Put a 2 stripe blue belt at 140lbs vs a blue belt no stripe 250lbs and see who taps who, clown.

  • @Deathwhisperer42 Obviously the 2 stripe blue belt idiot. A 2 stripe belt knows the counter to all white belt submissions. Seriously? A 1 stripe blue belt knows pretty much a counter for all white belt techniques. Tell me how is your weight going to help you escape a dominant position? Dumbass. Dude, I saw a guy 5' 6" tap a 6' guy. And the big guys weights 220 lb. The smaller guy won by rear naked choke.

  • Comment removed

  • @Aryangod40 Oh common, do not be ridiculous.

  • @Aryangod40 Dude that has nothing to do with what you said earlier. Of couse I have fought before. That is why I know that I have to be smart when choosing my strategy depending on the situation. WEight and strength gives power to punches and helps you on the stand up game. However leverage and timing limit the advantages of a heavier fighter. Adding to the fact that they are slower.

  • @IamVeryFrozen h ttp:/ /w ww.victimsofthestate.o rg/CA/Genzler.htm

Now you're really confused. The highly trained wrestler killed by the skinny finance major. hmm? Conclusion, all the martial arts training and hours of mat time can be nullified by a 4" blade.

  • god i hate being guillotined

  • WHILE YOU ARE ON THE FLOOR STRIKE HIS GROIN..... SIMPLE....

  • @slouttop The guy on top or the guy on the bottom? Anyways striking the face is easier for the top guy.

  • Awesome! Do you have a Guillotine Defense in closed guard? I got choked because I couldn't get to the side in north and south.

  • @buckmajor Best Defense: Tap, it is as hard as getting out of a fully locked RNC.

  • @IamVeryFrozen On the street, have a friend to kick the guy in the head or if not possible pray he doesn't rape you while you are unconscious.

  • @guykale... what happened after mount?

  • I got caught in a gilliotine in a street fight 2 days ago by some punk. I used this defense, no hurry, got him to the ground and mounted him. Thank you for this video and all the other videos!! It really is all STREET!

  • It's all Street. It's all Legal! Great vid

  • EXCELLENT video. i can really tell you guys have the heart of a teacher. love the passion for the sport. keep up the great work guys!

  • they dont even compete in mma it wouldnt be a good idea bad for busienss so they keep hiding in their dojo in torrance lmaof pussies!

  • @MrDasilva8383 WHAT??????...you crazy man... ryron and rener are no joke...go there and say that ..and you will be taking a nap...sorry pussies dont train everyday and dedicate their lives to getting better...pussies make tough guy comments on youtube

  • @mattyblues101 these guys ryron and rener are cool as hell, I met them before it was a great experience

  • @RageMysterio im sure they are some cool people...i mean rorion is there pops how can they not be

  • @MrDasilva8383 You gotta compete too if ur a martial artist? why? respectfully you dont know what your talking about

  • @MrDasilva8383 You real tough hiding behind your youtube comments cause you would never stay that to their faces. Just because they dont compete in mma make them pussies not by along shot. They could kick 99% of the populations ass including yours so stop hating

  • At 1:13 can't you von flue choke him?

  • I lost in a competition for NOT doing what they demonstrated, important to step the opposite side to what you are being choked.

  • this guys are pussies stay in your dojo so you dont get your assed kicked by real mma fighter beoytchs!!!!!!!!!

  • @luizinho81 If you're that "real MMA fighter," their dojo is in Torrance, CA, and they will fight anyone who shows up. I'm sure they'd be glad to accomodate you. Be sure to tap.

  • Jump away from the choke.

  • Why Rickson did not do that with Funaki?

  • @Chevalier765 I thought Rickson claimed to be undefeated?

  • Nice

  • Nicely presented boys. Thank you.

  • GRACIES ARE TOP SHIT!!

  • this was fucking awesome! loved it! epic techniques GRACIES #1

  • A very well presented video. Thank you.

  • this is a very nice demonstration.......as always from these two.

  • this is awesome

  • This is EXTREMELY helpful against wrestlers guys! Wrestlers favorite submissions: Guillotines and Americanas. Seems they dont learn anything else. Shut down a wrestler's guillotine and now he is on his back freaking out with nothing left in his arsenal. lol...LONG LIVE GRACIE!!!!!

  • They are such good teacher. I am on the gracie diet for 2 days and already feeling different. I recommend it!

  • Why aint you grabbing his balls and squeezing it......... I guarantee no matter how strong or big he is , he would let go straight away. Thi is very simple and would save you time and effort rather than going to the floor where he could aso have his friends surround you.....Do you want to go to the floor with multiple atackers? THE HELL YOU DONT......People get some sence.....

  • @slouttop

because if you waste your time grabbing his balls then it will be too late.

he would be pulling guard on you straight away and you will instantly be regretting that instead of trying to prevent being choked out, you foolishly tried an attack of your own, from a VERY bad position.

try actually doing the stuff you preach against a gracie jiu jitsu guy and i GUARANTEE you, you will be humbled in seconds.

  • @slouttop because you're a pussy if you attack the balls... only exception is if it's a life or death situation

  • @slouttop You are not smart. Dirty tricks do not fight submissions. Submissions are far more powerful. If you ever did that, I would pull guard and kick your ass, you cannot keep grabbing my balls when I am pulling guard because if you did, the guillotine would cause your head to smash against concrete, naturally you would post your hand to relieve the fall and once I closed the guard trust me, I will take your head home. (Guillotine)

  • I love JJ but only for a ground fighting . Technics in the stand are better in Krav Maga or Kapap. They r faster and easier. Here we are landing on the ground still in the guillotine but our goal is to get to the defense in a first seconds , next seconds should be a finishing seconds. That's my opion cuz I know very well defences against guillotine from Krav Maga and Kapap and this technics is loosing with mentioned by me from other combats.

  • whooo great instructing. thanks

  • these guys are great teachers

  • I like the Van flute choke when getting to the side of him like that.

  • @1lostinspace "Von Flue" renamed for Jason Von Flue, who used it to finish Alex Karalexis in 2006.

  • @MrMZaccone

    yeah him.

  • @1lostinspace It's a cool choke but all you really have to do is not get your top arm tied up when he goes to your side and it's a moot point. The choke shown here however ... not so much.

  • Amazing how many MMA fighers today don't know of forgot this defense. This has been around since the early GJJ training videos and I remember learning it from Lowel Anderson.

  • Gracie Jiu Jitsu has taught me so much in my life it's my passion to learn the uniqueness of this style & how it is spreading through out the Nations & the World.

  • this guys would not last against some one who is an expert in shotokan karate and muay tai or in a real street fight with 4 people against one jiu jitsu is really good against one opponent or another jiu jitsu fighter wortless and weak in a real street fight all of the gracies have gotten beat by real mma fighters

  • @luizinho81 thats gay man...

you wouldnt survive in wolfrine was fistfuckin you

  • @buckckck you are probably a homo that loves to have these two losers on top of you!!!!!!!!biatch did n't you see gracie vs matt hughes jiu jitsu sucks against muay tai and other mma forms

  • @luizinho81 you cant base it on the fight of hughes

its not one fighter representin it all

all bjj boys and girls go hard

  • @luizinho81 Wow, you're an idiot. How old was Royce in that fight? Why is it you think any MMA practitioner worth their salt learns BJJ?

I'd love to see Hughes vs. Demian Maia, or Anderson Silva's ground game, for that matter. Give me a break.

  • @Virility youare the idiot my friend and probably a homo that loves to have guys on top of him first off jiu jitus is japanese second most arts originate from india and china and you don't need jiu jitsu to win have you seen sakaruba vs renzon vs royce vs ryan you idiot mma is the best form like bruce lee said a true fighter masters all yoshida used judo to choke gracie out and kimura broke helios arm idiooooooooooooootttttttt not using bjj fool

  • @luizinho81 Haha, that's ripe. You call me an idiot and then spout off nonsense like that. Way to prove my point. Also, good job completely misrepresenting my argument.

  • @Virility :)

  • @luizinho81 first of all matt hughes doesnt strike alot he is what alot of people call a submission wrestler and the gracies he fought were all pretty old and only new gracie jiu jitsu and matt was just a beast any ways. you want proof of gracie jiu jitsu or jiu jitsu look at jake shields. all he uses is submissions and he got his belt from none other then... cesar GRACIE!! he is WEC champ right now.

  • @luizinho81 besides not just him but look at every MMA fighter. they have to be good at jiu jitsu or else they dont get far

  • @Tracer564 or you smuggle a raizor in the ring i did that in my gym at training took the raizor out from my gi and cut that motherfucker while he had me in a guillotine than i acted like it was accidential but i got caught and was fired from the gym :(

  • @luizinho81 No art can reliably defend against multiple attackers and any that claim to be able to are lying. No, all of the Gracies have NOT been beaten by mma fighters.

  • @MrMZaccone

BJJ apparently looks very weak as they only deal with one onto one. What happens if there is multiple attackers. Do you want to go to the floor. You have MINIMUM mobility on the floor and there is more chances of defending yourself on your feet if face with many attackers at once. stop defending BJJ and THINK...BJJ IS BETTER AS A SPORT. It makes no sence in BJJ as a martial art if there are NUMEROUS attackers onto ONE. However I like their ground fighting abilities.

  • @slouttop At the risk of repeating myself. No art can reliably defend against multiple attackers and any that claim to be able to are lying.

  • Comment removed

  • no disrespect but how in the hell do they have so many stripes??? Roger Gracie and Demian Maia two of the sports best and multiple world champions are only 2 stripe black belts and these guys seem to have 5 or so...how is that possible???

  • These guys are the Gracies. There ancestors like Helio Gracie created BJJ and they have studied it since they were very young.

  • @chuteboxe5 How is that possible? simple, there is no comparison between them and roger gracie and Demian Maia. The thing is: Rener e the other are good teachers, but not competitors. You can notice the difference of a graduated competitor and a graduated guy that does not compete.

  • Good explanation

  • thanks guys i got cought in the exact same one and my sparring partner lifted me off the ground and i didn't know what to do from then on

  • cool defenses, but they failed to include how to get out when someone has caught you in this hold with a closed guard. the video shows him escape slightly before his attacker closes guard on you.

  • lol yeah right! He would yank you forward and sprawl or wrap their legs around you.

  • um...

you do realize that this is meant for STREET self defense and the opponent would most likely do this to stop you from punching them or to try to control you.

AND even if he does try to pull guard you see how Ryron? moves to the side and keeps tight leaving no space for Rener to adjust and pull guard.

  • @deemon16

sounds like your rolling with blue belts, not only can he catch you in the guillotine but there is a triangle waiting for you.. good luck I ll pass.

  • yeah well you know rener is one of the 17 people to receive a black belt from helio gracie right? so if you really think you know more than him I would love to see you teach it the right way instead of someone taught personally by the grand master.

  • @tojiro12

When I was at the gracie academy in 93 as a blue belt he was a child.

  • Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.thanks that help a lot

  • dang the defense from them pulling guard is sic.

  • whenever im grappling it seems I always get caught in gullitines when i try to go for a takedown so i norm just try and pull them to guard I hope this will help to get outa it...any tips tho?

  • used to have that problem. when you go for a double leg, keep the side of your neck against their leg so there is no room for them to fit their hand around. it has worked for me, hope it helps

  • thanks man but what if its just you wrestling around with your friends and i dont really wanna go for like a full takedown can i stil do this by getting them in the clinch and pick them up like a double leg takedown but not using my full body weight i thought about just trying to tuck my chin and kind of press it against his chest would that work?

  • @pulseshock2009 good tip if your grappling someone that's good off there back, and you want to take them down dump them into side control.

  • alright igot a scenario.. after you get down into side control but your heads still in his guillotine... could u pass to mount? slide the knee across and turn INTO the choke and maybe posture up? or is there a flaw somewhere in my thinking?

  • yes that does work but i like to spin to north south and completely escape the choke they may still be able to hold your neck from mount but you can escape it just takes longer

  • I got one today. I took him down and submitted with an armbar.

  • i did that one time when rolling, i didnt move to the opposite side and i got submitted from side control, pretty embarrasing

  • Thank you Rener and Ryron I have used this technique many times to escape a guillotine

  • That is nice escape! Well done

  • 1:54 He said "Even a layman can choke you out" I thought for a split second he said "laimon".

  • lol Marc Laimon

  • haha, quincidence. royce showed me this move.

  • this is the best guillotine choke defense ive seen and this was well taughtwell done

  • Why not just hit him in the groin?

  • because the tosser fighting you may not have much a one to hit... lol

  • Also because The groin isnt the fight stopper you think.

  • It may or may not work, you could stil get choked out or if he's really strong, crank super hard to hurt your trachea

  • The one thing this is missing though is that he doesn't control the other guys legs first before turning to his side which can allow the other guy to take you down by falling back and wrapping his legs around the your body while applying the choke.

  • renner does address this at 3:38.HOWEVER,the FIRST PART OF THIS LESSON ADDRESSES A STANDING SELF DEFENSE GUILLOTINE ,a situation more likely to occur against a person not knowledgable in jiujitsu or grappling.street & sport jiujitsu are touched on this lesson.

  • @SteelCity1981 One thing at a time, dude.

  • Thanks Ryron and Rener, This defense is often overlooked... Great Details...

  • These dudes are awesome haha. They really break things down. I like how they make references to street fights too.

  • whats your number ryron so i can call and thank you =)..lols buts serious thanks for the tips i appreciate it

  • Helio Gracie would beat him now. R.I.P.

  • von flue would be the best in the end

  • i can't teach this technique without teaching the von flue anymore!

  • Thanks for the great instuctional video. My partner who is 60 lbs. heavier than I am has the edge, especially when I screw up and "let" him get me in the guillotine. It caught him way off guard when I used the techniques shown which resulted in an arm bar submission. Thanks again guys!

  • MMA fighters get caught in standing guillotine's & have NO clue what to do. The do not know this defense. All they have learned is "sport jiu jitsu". This defense is something a beginner training in Gracie Jiu Jitsu would learn.

  • awsome technique i was rolling with a friend of mine today and he is teaching me some things and he beat me with a guilletine like 5 times. im going to try this the next time we roll.

  • Nice teq my Guys My good friend Pedro Sauer showed me to block in let him hold the choke then throw him over me and he lets go :)

  • Great Video. I am 11 years old and have been practicing for 2 years. You are almost as good as me. lol. I like your videos to help me practice.

  • but what if the person gets you already in a choke while standing up jumps up, and gets his legs around you, then falling down?

  • And now you watch submissions 101....

  • Love your videos, they are amazing. Great instruction, plus an added bonus -- you guys are totally cute.

Hope to have the opportunity to train with you in the future! --KEEP IT REAL--

  • Nice and clear guys! Thanks for giving us your art and letting the rest of the world run with it (even 10th Planet guys like us ;-)

    all the best!

  • I like to go to the von flue from here.

  • I was the very first person to watch this video.

    Good job as allways guys.
