Germans had amazing tanks. Nothing the us had could barely penetrate. If it did at all. And the fire power. Very amazing tanks. I would hate to face a tiger in a Sherman. Unless I was in The Sherman firefly with the Brits 17lb gun. (I think it was the 17lb.). But that would penetrate tigers. But the Sherman still couldn't take a hit from a tiger. But now with the m1 Abrams. It's a different story. But def. in wwll hands down nothing we had could compete. And the jagdtiger was amazing.
@dweese30 They do do that to raise morals. HOWEVER, most of the time the Sherman spent in North Africa, it was the dominant tank (that is until the Tiger I's started showing up). The Soviets and Germans would do the same thing too, sometimes exaggerating battle victories over and over.
No The Chassis, Roadwheels and Engine is designed to make sure the Vehicle can drive on missing roadwheel and other parts. Battle damage was a big comon thing on the russian Front, Tigers Would simply drive with-out the outher road wheels wich allowed Crewman to acces the Tank road wheels easier.
if you make a bigger version of the Biggest Production vehicle You have, a Köningstiger (king tiger) then you have an even bigger tank/ tank destroyer then you had to begin with!
i'm sorry, but thats the best Dutch i could do... =D
The Bovington JagdTiger has a Porche turret.. It's probably highly likely this is the one, as they can't have captured and evaluated too many of these beasts.. and they both seem to have the wheels missing in the same place! The Bovington tank was captured by the British in April 1945.. I think.. :)
An old gentleman in the church I grew up in fought in the US army in WWII as a tank commander. He spoke with the utmost awe and respect about the German Panzer arm in general but he genuniely harbored feelings of unease still all those decades later when talking about the three things he and his crew feared the most: A Panther, a Jagdpanther and this awesome beast the Jagdtiger. He related a story of when he was in the Ruhr of a single one of these wiping out half of his company, an awesome tank
awesome, my Grandfather was a Panther Comander, and He alway's wanted to know what made people climb into Shermans, etc. because you know that You'd got killed if you were in a Sherman?
@ThePanzerWarMachine Americans were told both in North Africa and in Normandy before going into battle that their machines were superior to anything the Wehrmacht or the Waffen SS possesed. From what I remember from talking to my own relatives who fought (on both sides ironically, I had family in the US Army, British Army and the Wehrmacht in WWII) and from others who did as well is that they did it out of duty. And any American tank vet will tell you that German tanks were simply better, period
Yes, History and Warfare are stange things. the big this with war is progoganda. they tell you that your own weapons are better then those of the enemy but it is allways the soldier and the men at the front line to find that out the hard way. German tanks are still the best.

Is it not a risk running such a large beast without it's "full" running gear?
Doing 360 degree circle will surely put stress throughout the whole system and tracks?
Awesome machine!
