Abortion is legal anyway, people get abortions through private insurance, so I don't know why that is an issue, and I don't know if illegals are covered in this bill. A previous bill said that it would not cover illegal immigrants but even if it did, do those people not deserve health insurance? A mandate requiring all individuals to purchase health insurance would be an unprecedented form of federal action. The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States.

Should it pass the next round, the GOP will get the Supreme Court involved. I doubt that we'll ever be subjected to the mandates in this bill.

I have had many docotrs checkups and appointments free of charge, I have been given at home nursing care after my operation free of charge. I'm glad that this passed. First, deficit spending is how we've always gotten out of recessions. Even Reagan did it when he tripled defense spending. Second, this will eliminate the concept of the pre-existing condition and should regulate rescission. Third, it will assist in trust-busting the insurance companies that control 85% of the market in some states. There's countless other reasons and I don't have enough space here.

Absolutely nowhere will you find any language in this bill that makes it a crime to not have health insurance. No one is going to be arrested/jailed for not acquiring health insurance. Dont you know that hospitals cannot turn away ANYONE who comes in through the emergency department ? We have to take the uninsured and illegal aliens as well! It is the law...... Emergency rooms to have to accept disadvantaged people, but guess who pays for it when the patients can't. You do. Everyone does. This practice is partly responsible for premiums being so high. This practice raises the cost of health care.

However, emergency rooms do not provide chronic treatment. People with cancer cannot go to the emergency room to get chemo-treatment. People with epilepsy cannot go to the emergency room to get medication.

The ER is best just for emergencies.
