I remember when I was younger that I was with my mom swimming in the ocean in Honduras and all of a sudden I felt a knife made of electricity stab into my foot and leg, I got out of there as soon as possible. I went to the Hotel's bar and a sweet African-American rubbed a lemon on my foot and leg, and he told me that a jelly fish had stung me. From that moment on I never step foot in that ocean again, it was the worst pain of my life. :'(

@beaboyy It's not that they're consciously choosing to 'attack', it's people running into their dangling tentacles which can be up to 10 to 50 meters long and virtually invisible. Additionally, they're unable to move themselves in any one direction, so it's the wind and water currents that pushed them into a body of water this close to humans.

@Pigroota Different people have different experiences with stings. I was stung by a Portuguese M.O.W. over 21 years ago in Hawaii. The venom stayed in me for several weeks until a dermatologist froze the welts with liquid nitrogen. I had pitting edema in one of my arms and the welts were very painful until I had them treated. Most of the scars went away after a few years, but I still have a small scar on my elbow. I think I was the exception. Most seem to get over it quickly.

I was about 10 years old, I went swimming while my parents and sis where at the hotel. there was a swim practce going on like so and I was swimming around when I notice life boats and people yelling for help I didint no what they were yelling for, So I looked in the water I saw thousands of man of war! luckly I didnt get stung but they were all around me. this jet ski came out and helped me, I was just floating on the tiny body raft coming to shore

Turned out that when she was about my age (13, going on 14), she fell into a huge HEAP of bluebottles on Durba Beach, South Africa (ME AND MY MOM ARE AFRIKAANS). recentl i stepped on a poisonous fish called a COBBLER

and i stepped and its spike went throgh my foot almost to the other side and apparently the lifeguards (in lancelin) said that the cobbler pain was 10 times worse as a blue bottle.

I went to the beach in California over the summer, and i was swimming all day for the three days i was there. I've found a lot of these jellies washed onto the beach, yet i still swam. Luckily, I never encountered one in the water! They seemed like baby ones, They were about the size of my palm, but didn't have long tentacles while they were washed onto the beach.
