  • i need skip button!

  • Now put a guy on it and test.

  • five minutes to watch a bike go 2ks and hour into a plastic wall WEEEWW WHOOOO

  • Change the fixing mechanism to hold the frame instead the wheels and you're good to go.

If you'd try an "elk test" you'll end up with bent rims.

  • Crash it sideways now

  • Now set it on fire

  • Why?

  • the Creme Eggs video satisfies the craving for crash test destruction

  • How about a reverse collision? Should be interesting to see how the clamps handle it. At any rate, congrats for passing the test.

  • 2:13 What IS that rover looking robot?

  • @Yourveryking Ha! that is an old bomb disposal robot that someone is trying to convert into something else, cant remember what tho. great toy to have lying around.

  • "YAY look at this great bike we've made over the last few weeks! Now lets go SMASH it! YEAH!" :p oh wow, that hurts. It's kinda win-win actually. If it's still intact, great! (for test). If it's busted into a million pieces, great! (for footage and experience).

  • that front clamp seems rather dangerous (yet very functional) I can imagine people losing there fingers in there rather easily.

  • @puretroubleman The way it works you never have to touch it when its moving, it clamps automatically as you saw, and you pull a string to release a catch that opens it with a spring. i cant tell you any more im afraid!

  • Check where the rim squished into the tire & you might find it slightly bent.....

  • Make a mouse with a trackpad instead of a scroll wheel for the middle button. Everyone will use it. Give me ten cents per unit in royalties :)

    TrackMouse (C)2011 kcazzo69

  • @kcazzo69 Sounds like Apple's (already existing) Magic Mouse!

  • Carry on, chaps.

  • Now, the side impact test! :D

  • loced it, great stuff keep coming with the videos

  • 2 : 15 pm :D

  • very bad design, but the idea about the clamp are great except that it might leave heavy mark on your rim.

  • glad it work, gutted for the unspectacular nature

  • Your own design appears perfectly good, it is the so-called 'crash test' design which is flawed. Try hitting your bike rack with equal force side on or at an angle.

  • @dockie1971 you are probably right, but the crash test is specified by international standards for roof load carriers, so we dont get to choose it!

  • poor bike :(

  • Hope you all enjoy the vid! big thanks to brady for coming down and doing all the filming and editing the vids, a lot of work goes into that behind the scenes. Im very sorry that there wasnt an explosive disintegration, lets face it, you all wanted to see that when you saw the title!

  • @JCDCEE Spoilers... :(

  • @1p2o3i sorry about that its a fair point. i didnt expect the comment to get stuck at the top. altough did you ever expect it to explode? oh yee of little faith!

  • @JCDCEE I meant it more or less tongue in cheek, don't worry. ;)

  • @JCDCEE You should take a leaf from the book of Mythbusters. If it doesn't explode, MAKE it explode!

  • @JCDCEE it didn't look like much of a crash, but 12G's is not a small amount. Good job!

  • @JCDCEE I bet your rack is far better than any you'd buy at the shop. Let's face it, students get brilliant ideas and do their best for their projects to work. That's what I did months ago, a dead low noise audio amp. 5 times cheaper than comparable consumer product.

Would you mind if I ask about the total cost of this project? Excluding your efforts, of course. :)

  • @rageagainstthebath cheers! becuase we were using the university facilities, the costs are not clear. if you hired all the equipment and facilities we used it would be a few thousand minimum. in terms of the raw materials and parts etc. im not sure i can tell you, that sounds a bit lame i know but the uni might not like me giving information away, it technicallly belongs to them. what i can tell you is that we think we could mass produce it £70-100 per rack. so £250-300 sale price.

  • @JCDCEE Lucky you, I've already seen a lot of Nottingham's tools and labs on Brady's channels. I wish i could see it all with my own eyes.

My technical university (And I'm not sure I should tell which one) gave away 250PLN (about 45£) per each project to be built, no matter what it was. Despite that, our amp is working and has competitive parameters.

Yet I still hear polish engineers are regarded professional workers in the west. Either a miracle or a gossip, don't you think?

  • Engineering design projects are awesome.

  • there is a small part of all of us that wants to see small bits of metal go flying

  • congrats on your result! hopefully your report will be just as good

  • Nice rack! ;)

Psst... I couldnt stop thinking that I would love to see it go waaay faster.

    20 times faster.

with that idiot stuntman robbie knieval on the bike.

    is that bad...?

  • first to say first

  • Where can i buy one!
