And if the hook rips out, they're going to either die or get eaten from not being able to swim well. I understand what you're saying if somone lets like 5 dozen goldfish into there. But using one at a time for bait.. I think there's nothing to worry about.

the real name for shiners is shad they are great for catfishing never used them for bass..

I only speak english...IT IS Against the law to use goldfish or any other tropical fish to use as bait..Only use bait that is found already in your area.
