I adore this beautiful song and your wonderful singing makes me swoon and long for the islands. Luckily, I'll be visiting the Hamakua Coast in Sept. I'll be traveling solo and I'd love to hear music by someone local who carries such music in their heart. Ideas? Mahalo!
@jdjour I didn't stumble on much in the way of very traditional music on the Hamakua coast. Look at restaurants around area and see if any locals are playing. Have fun!
Jesse, this is way swell. You are doing exactly what I would love to do....go to the places of the mele pana and sing the mele right there. You know there is mana in each of these places or someone would never have written the mele for the place. Your singing, as usual, is so beautiful, and your photography is superb. Mahalo for sharing your adventures.
@idrnoel I think the Japanese tourists thought I was some kind of entertainment. They would stare, then they would stop, then they would take a photo or video, then they would giggle.

@imuahawaii808 This time on the Big Island. We loved Hilo and the Hamakua coast. If I lived in Hawai'i, it would be there.

Thank you very much for the view and the song. I enjoyed this very much I'm going to try learn this song.
As for the tourist, I think that was really brave to have been stared at. Did anyone of them give you a coin or something?

@JesseTinsley Hahaha! That is so hilarious. I've seen Akaka Falls a few times but your performance was awesome. It's made me want to learn this.
