Help. I don´t want to call this art. I don´t want to spend taxes on this. I want the world of art stop their cocaine consume. This is just cheap and awful.
why mark as spam a non- violent, non-agresive comment?? is it because I'am linking to my video? do you think it has nothing to do with yours?? if that were true I wouldn't have posted it here in the first place!! the net is about sharing and you're making it difficult. don't become a spam person and let sharing continue!
I see 'preoccupation', as you said, twrc, but it doesn't feel to any end; her relationship with her audience, ghost images, and camera shift so much without rhythm that they thwart the creation of the feeling of a cohesive time or state of mind, and too often painfully become the author shooting a video. I think video can't help but address issues of time and performance, but it should also be interesting in its actual subject/aesthetic matter. I think this video seems fed by Ego and needs work.
The dreamlike essence is communicated to me most in the times when (cinematically) she stares at the ghost images, or beyond the camera, the reality becoming more complicated with her gazes directy into the lens - at us - which is what happens most of the time, in a somewhat disjointed, repetitive way. Though it feels low-energy, it's simply without a sensible intention; it feels like bad acting when she stares at us, playing the film subject, waiting for our response.
After watching this video again, after so long, I liked the first half more than I did last time, but found myself growing wearier and wearier of watching it; resolved to watch all of it, I only made it through 8:15 or so (after what felt like almost a solid minute at her window). I think a slow pace was a good fit for this (as mini wrote) dreamlike video, but in both of these qualities, I felt the slow pace did not ever vary, evolve, or hold me in awe, resulting in flatness and monotony; (cont)

i feel very connect to it. here the beauty woman does fit because here puppy eyes are following innocently whats inside and outside. i think its very good. the name of the actrice is kind of cute *g* i´d thought of pipi langstrumpf first time i´ve heard it. but didnt know that it actually is inspired by her :3
As we go through our daily routine, are there people that occupy our thoughts? They are always there, hovering...are they good thoughts, nagging thoughts, or are they like angels watching us, or ghosts that haunt us? Does this mean we are really present, if we are preoccupied. When you look at her eyes, she's not always present and gazing at us. So is she any more present and real as the image that she is gazing at? Many things to ponder. Loved it.
Wow, for someone who is into sacred art and music, I cannot believe you don't understand her work. You should rethink your opinion and bring some openness to your views on contemporary art.
I like the idea of the projections that pop up and interact around her head, but it was not executed as well as it could've been: it became an effect whose use was to reference its own medium, and the filmmaker seemed preoccupied by it, planning for it as she made the video, giving off a self-consciousness about the filmmaking that erased a sense of viewership (she has made the video for herself). i stopped watching at 3:46.
Interesting comments. I disagree. Pipilotti Rist has just made her first film released this year. At the time that this was made, she worked strictly in video. As you probably already know, video and film are not the same. They are very different mediums. Video is branch within contemporary art that investigates the cinematic but also is preoccupied with performance, installation, time-based elements etc. Although I love to access these on Youtube but its not in the right context. Much is missed
unbelievably narcissistic and tiring. her ingenuous gaze is unsettling (though I doubt this is intentional). I like the part around 3:00 when she sticks with one camera position for a bit, showing the right half of her face and the rest of the world slowly spinning behind her. (cont'd)
Estupidos videos.
