  • I rode this storm out about 6 blocks from where this was taken. Sounded like we had a 747 in the back yard. Wouldn't have missed it for the world though...

  • 1:28 you can see something get sucked out of the skyscraper

  • @liquidstl OMG - I've looked at this video so many times and I never noticed that until now!

  • @liquidstl

I dont believe that is something being sucked out, but rather blown around.

  • this is an amazing shot! the way u can see the rain hitt the concrete really lets u know how fast the wind is actually moving

  • @jbenny1277748 --cough-- isnt youtube american? wasnt the internet invented in america? ;D

  • @jbenny1277748 Oh shush, I'm pretty sure wherever you live, something along the lines of this occurred because your country did something retarded in order for that something to occur in the first place.

  • Sounds eerie.

  • SCARY! Can you imagine those who weren't prepared for this who got stuck in it!! All the kids!

  • Dude, all I can say is you seriously have balls the size of fuckin' coconuts to want to voluntarily go through this.

    Awsome footage man.

  • Those winds seems as if they are in the region of 120 to 130 mph

  • lololololol the beginning of ODST

    (looks like the carrier jumping)

  • I thought it may be cool to be in a hurricane down south...but after seeing this...NO WAY...thats freaking scary...I live in Halifax and we get cat 2 hurricanes...check out Hurricane Bill Peggys cove...this is in halifax,,,waves are huge

  • I've been to Halifax for a couple of hurricanes - Noel and Bill. I've got some incredible wave footage at Peggy's Cove on my channel. I've never seen waves as big as that day in my life - they'd hi the rock and jump around 100-120 feet in the air. The whole ground was shaking.

  • Acctually its maybe a funnel made by the eyewall...

The eye of a storm is more than a hundred mile wide, it almost covers a whole city...... now this may be the EYEWALL part with its ferocious and detructive winds..... and thats only a funnel made by the eyewall encircling already the whole city....

  • its the wind turbulence as it blows past that tall building creating a tornado like effect...not an actual tornado

  • ok so why does it say eyewall in the title?

  • Tornados can and do occur in the eyewalls of hurricanes, as previously stated.

  • it says eye wall cuz he is not actually in the eye because it would be calm, if thats what your confused about. the eyewall has the most powerful winds as you can see 120mph and it is usually this part where he is in that the most damage is done by the storm

  • You can see a couple of pieces of debris going left and up, and those 2 little trees are being pulled to the left and up when the hurricane is blowing and travelling in from the left to the right.

  • Oh yes. You can see it starting at 1:15 and onward. It was a weak funnel and it stayed in one spot for some time.

  • woah, there's a tornado in this? WTF? Winds in a hurricane can be easily mistaken. Because they usually swirl. I live in oklahoma and i've seen tornadoes, i don't see one. Yeah there's no tornado. Unless you were describing this as if it was as powerful. But the tornado would be differen. There would be a white column going up to the clouds. Not a lightly column. Debris would be hitting you from 30 feet away. Not for some to be confused but it's not a tornado. A hurricane.

  • You can see a definite funnel at 1:15 for a few seconds. And btw it's not uncommon for tornadoes to occur in the eyewall of a hurricane.

  • I know. But, it's really hard to see a tornado in the hurricane. And i saw that, but the winds do a lot of things.

  • but hurricanes can spawn tornadoes, just saying

  • The tornado footage is ftw.

  • J10ATP- Katrina didnt make landfall on New Orleans, it made landfall on Bay St Louis, MS. New Orleans just flooded and suffered wind damage. get it right dick wad....

  • Katrina have weaken Category 3 hurricane 125 mph (205 km/h) when landfall on New Orleans. But it once was 280km/h (150 kts) Category 5 hurricane intensity in the middle part of mexico bay before.

  • You mean Gulf of Mexico :) and Bay St Louis

  • intensity brah straight intensity

  • brigido

  • the guy probly craped his pants takeing the video i know i would

  • it must be awsome to be a stormchaser cuz ya get too do stuff a average person would never do

  • Those trees weathered the storm pretty good. Heck, if you properly stocked up on supplies, you could have got in that building after everyone left and just holed up in there until it blew over. What is everyone whining about?

  • the city was underwater, that might have something to do with it genius

  • Impressive...

  • Fantastic video, @around 1:50 it looks like a spin off tornado.

    Again great job.

    R

  • WOW we watched a vid kindah lyk this but ths man [and a frend] were lyk doin a documntry or sumfin....lyk te

  • tubular,, narly dude

  • Beautiful footage. I would love to be there, or even watch from that other building.

  • Mother nature on her rag, the only woman that can make it beautiful; and at the same time ACTUALLY deadly.

  • I cant believe you still exist. id love to do that

  • how can't you shit your pants ?

  • joe biden and barack obama vote for the bridge to nowhere and when palin say no the senate try to redirect some of the money to relieve new orleans and then they both vote no

  • thats kind of odd being that tornadoes very seldomly appear in the eyewall of a hurricane...

  • I guess I didn't make it quite clear enough in the info on this one (sorry!): the "tornado" isn't actually a real one - it's a swirl created by the movement of the air around the side of the bank building. However, you can get "mini-swirls" in the eyewall. We think that one ripped the elevator building on the top of the bank and dropped it on us (didn't have the camera pointed the right way at that point - doh!)

  • I would love to be in your position man. Thats kickass footage.

  • thats because its a HURRICANE.....

  • I love it, I love it, I love it!

  • It is clearly not fast forwarding..you can even hear the guy saying 'oh my god' at normal speed...thats just how gnarly hurricanes can get...

  • pretty intense, especially toward the end with that rotating column of air

  • you got some balls

  • That is absolutely insane

  • A little education: the EYEWALL is the most violent part of the hurricane and the eye itself is calm. When you are standing in the eyewall itself, you're experiencing the most incredible winds in the hurricane and you really can't see anything that could be described as a "wall". Katrina's eye passed about 10 miles to our west so we pretty much got the worst part of the storm.

  • @stormhunter27 Thank you for educating the Northerns about these hurricanes...lol.

  • are you retarded? the "eye wall" is the most violent part of a hurricane... iside the eye after the eye wall is calm and is normally about 5 to 10 miles wide... so dont make any more dumb comments................

  • I remember sitting outside during Rita and watching everything... i'm from sulphur louisiana... and we didn't evacuate cause we have a hurricane room.

It was pretty intense but I wasn't scared, I think I'm just too used to crazy storms and weather living here!

  • I was in the garage too lol

I think the winds went higher then 120

    I'm with another chase team

  • It looks like a small tornado on 2.00

  • how the hell do u not blow away

  • I was braced and hiding in a stairwell, so I wasn't exposed to the full winds.

  • how were u braced?

  • Essentially, I was braced against the wall and I tried not to get into the wind itself. When I was exposed to the wind, I just leaned into it and wrapped one arm around whatever was close!

  • thats crazy man lmao i would do that i just wouldnt wanna die or be blown away lol

  • LUL

This is what I do for fun/living. I shoot thunderstorms, hurricanes, blizzards etc.

Katrina was the most intense experience of my life, and yeah, at times I was scared!

  • he wasn't standing where the wind was blowing that hard...

  • talk about an adrenaline rush

  • damn those are trees looking like bushes in that wind.nuff said

  • I love it, I love it, I love it! This reminds me of the Ron White joke, when he talks about hurricanes and says "It's not THAT the wind is blowing, it's WHAT the wind is blowing. If you get hit by a Volvo....it really doesn't matter how many situps you did that morning". LMFAO!

  • Tornadoes can cause more damage than hurricanes, if they are really strong (EF4 or more), but hurricanes cover a MUCH wider area, sometimes as much as 1000 miles. Thus, hurricanes are far worse than tornadoes, even if the winds aren't as strong. A tornado can't flood you, a hurricane can. Also, an example of how bad a hurricane can be is Opal. It produced tropical storm force winds all the way to the Ohio Valley when it made landfall in the Florida Panhandle.

  • Can you feel the ENERGY!!

  • wow thats insane.....i actually had an argument with someone the other day telling me that tornadoes and hurricanes are no different and that tornadoes are more dangerous than hurricanes.......the dumbest shit i ever heard in my life!

  • I can't believe I lived through that!!!! I was in slidell on my roof!!!

  • WOW, Few people have documented the ferocit of the eyewall as well as you
