All the Beatles had kids, Paul had a baby girl only a couple of years ago with Heather? And are you forgetting his other? Stella, I think. And there's another too, but I can't remember his name.
The unharmonized music video which was grabbed from youtube and worked with was a semi-tone lower than the audio recording worked with, so the latter was pitch-shifted down to make it sync.
I'm not sure what I think about that old idea of Julian replacing his dad in the Beatles. I mean, yeah, it would sound cool, but something about the idea just felt... "wrong", for lack of a better word. Its like, John's dead, lets let it go, and Julian's his own man.
Then again, can you imagine ('scuse the pun) Julian Lennon in a band with Dhani Harrison? That would be a head fuck! lol
you know what have been amazing..if julian lennon would have sung in his place with the other beatles before george died god bless him...people may disagree but I would have gotten chills I mean he looks like John and even sort of sounds like him..I dunno it would have made me happy...I know no one could ever really replace John lennon but if anyone could take just a momment to sing some old songs it would be pretty cool
Did you really ask him 10 years ago? Still has that chip on his shoulder? On the song "Valotte" I hear him singing about a deep connection he feels with hid dad. Is that just me tripping?
Well, I didn't ask him directly, only through letters and emails. He's a bit reclusive, it seems. But I pretty much get the feeling that he has harbored a bitterness towards his father for walking away from him and Cynthia. I could be wrong. Wish he'd communicate with his fans better.
That would indeed be a great recording. Anyone who sees this and has contact with Julian, please ask him to do it. This summer would be a great time for it, the 40 year anniversary of the "summmer of love".
Quite good in my opinion. I am in the camp of thinking John would approve. Most musicians appreciate other renditions of the work. If John were alive and being given a Musicares Tribute, I don't think he would jump up and scream at other artists singing his songs even though there versions would be dramatically different than his. For that matter, he probably did it several different ways himself and we just don't have those recordings.
Amen. Someone sent a note saying "I enjoyed it. There were moments where the two voices bled together so well it created a spooky effect." John was the master of creating beautifully haunting material, so it's in his spirit in that sense as well.
Well, let's just say that you made a beautiful song and you died. And when you died someone changed that song WITHOUT your permission. How would you feel?
You've made it sound like the version by V/VM, so well done.

The lyrics shouldn't be just imagined but put into practice, if we don't the killing will never stop.

I asked Julian 10 years ago to do it, but it seems that he's got a little chip on his shoulder about his father.

Who could blame him for being reclusive, after what happened to his dad. One never knows when a fan might mutate into a monster.

Julian Lennon should record the harmony part. He sounds so much like John.

You're right. If John had recorded it with Paul, he probably would have been singing the low harmony sung by the youtuber here.
feelskeeroo 5 years ago
It's good. ...very in the spirit of JL too. He usually did the low harmony.

so you harmonized it with julians version of imagine?? i dont understand
flamesgal21 5 years ago
The harmony was sung by an ordinary youtuber partly as a demo for a harmonized version that Sean & Julian could record.

I don't like it.Don't mind my opinion,I just wanted to write something about it. To me,it just seems wrong.

Well, let's just say that you made a beautiful song and you died. And when you died someone changed that song WITHOUT your permission. How would you feel?
Beatlemaniagirl 5 years ago
I feel i did get John's permission spiritually, and even if i hadn't, the song isn't really changed
but decorated with a beautiful harmony. To me it honors John's memory...Now if you imagine
that "there is no heaven" as the song goes, a person can't feel anything about anything after
death, unless reincarnation is a reality.
feelskeeroo 5 years ago
If John is reincarnated on this earth and happens to
hear this harmonized version, i would bet he would love it and might not even remember that
he wrote it in a former life. If anyone deserved heaven, John did, so i hope he is either there
or feeling heavenly in a body somewhere.
